@louisekennedy65 I'm so crazy about this song! I LOVE your version of it. I even blogged about it on my website a few months ago.
P.S. - One of my close friends lives opposite your old school - ISB, now NIST, on Sukhumvit 15, right? I even went there to see the kid of some friends sing. Wonder if you performed in the same auditorium once upon a time...
@VintageAsian What did you say when you blogged about it on your website ? I remember ISB very well. I also remember taking a boat along the klong from soi Ekami to soi 15 on mornings when traffic was so heavy on Sukhumvit !
I was stationed there with the 105th Signal Co. I am happy to have found this song again as it is a remembrance of 25 months spent in Bangkok as a 19 year old GI. 1965-1967 billeted at both the Capital Hotel and later, what was then called the Chavalit Hotel (Sukhumvit Rd.). Hello to all of the rest of you vets who had the privelege of BKK.
Thanks for your recent reply to my comment. I probably heard many times the Sunday morning radio show of which you speak, but never really paid attention to what it was. Would love to hear more about your life at and since International School.
Yeah, definitely a strong element of "Green Onions" - with lyrics unintelligible to Americans, who might be familiar with the original. And that adds to the beauty and intrigue.
Stationed in ole' Krungthep 1964-1967 (played basketball in International School gym) and never forgot that song! Been looking for a recording of it ever since and only recently discovered it on several albums. Ordered one (Thai Beat A Go-Go 1) from Amazon. Hope you're still getting royalties from it! Love that song and love you for recording it!
@StrayEight Thanks so much your comments ! Did you ever listen to our radio program on Sunday mornings on the Thai Army Radio from 1964 - 1966? We received lots of requests for songs from many who were stationed around Bangkok and upcountry.
@bluelouwwoz Thanks. Actually the original song was performed live in Bangkok. I prefer that rendition as the tempo is a bit faster and the audience reaction is wonderful. At the time we were all students at the International School.
Better not be any dislike....

@hebneh As you know, the Thai language has many tones. The Green Onions melody was the perfect song to handle the lyrics to Puyai Lee.
