Let's face the facts. Livanov and Solomin are way better than English and American actors who played Holmes and Watson. It seem that only the Russians read Conan Doyle. This is why the Russian Watson is the Watson that Conan Doyle wrote about.

well, you ca say that the series is a good bit more dramatic for sure than my favourite. And I like drama but I find that Jeremy Brett is a better Sherlock since he has more charism and attractivity than this autor. But I have the impression this is a good performance of Watson.

Livanov might not be universally "the best Holmes" But the two of them are the best Holmes and Watson for sure!

I have read your words every time I watched this clip (many times!) and it has convinced me more and more about the impossibility of the existence of THE performance of Holmes. He's such a unique personality and there's so much, deep inside of that man that has been never known, that even the author wouldn't know. And since Sherlock Holmes isn't completely known, there can't be the perfect adaption of him!

Yes, it's Russian version of SH. Vasily Livanov as Holmes and Vitaly Solomin as Watson.

I'd recommend you 'The Hound of Baskervilles' on YouTube, with English subs. Other series I know in Russian only((((
