  • I have a problem with the bottom of my 1st finger always getting in the way of the high E string and my 2nd and 3rd fingers seem too short to stretch a C chord and tend to mute out other strings. Can you help me with this?

  • it's encouraging.. thank you :)

  • Waaaaazuuuup good people !

  • you are a great teacher.

  • i dont even know how do a G :(

  • Thanks for the videos, you guys are great. Do you always keep the same fingering for chords each time? In this progression, I find it easier to change from D to Dm if I haven't already used my index finger in the D chord and put my little finger in there instead. Is this ok or am I being lazy?! Thanks again.

  • Hi - its a good idea for sure to keep your fingering consistent - especially when first learning. This really helps the muscle memory. Then later when you get more playing time under your belt you can explore different chord voicings and fingerings for the same chords. Enjoy and keep on rocking!

    David T

  • Thanks so much for your videos; you guys are great! When changing between chords do you always keep the fingering the same each time? In this progression I find it easier to change from D to Dm if I haven't already used my index finger in the D chord that precedes it. Is it ok to do this or am I just lazy?! Thanks again.

  • land of uncomfortableness... lol i like your lessons!

  • how do you learn teh strumming method of songs? i cant seem to grasp it. folow the beat? watch other ppl strum? its so confusing! please answer! D:

  • Hi - check out some of my other beginner videos lessons on strum patterns and rhythm and timing - start with the easy strums first then move to harder ones as per the lessons and then start developing your ear so eventually you can figure out any strum just by listening - we also have a boatload of strum and rhythm lessons on the website

    David T

  • buy a guitar chord diagram and then see what the notes to each chord. When you practice just look at 2 chords and learn the notes that your finger go on. Eventually you will remember!!!

  • definitely reading off a promt

  • I love your guitar! You help alot too. I really can do anything on guitar if I try. I read music, transcript key changes, and improvise everyday until my fingers are soft and burning. I am an acoustic kind of person, but i like both. One day i will have a guitar like yours. Its awesome! My dad barely plays and he has the $1200 guitar and I play hours a day and have the Jam Pak Ibanez acoustic for like $100. Well there is my musical story. Thanks for helping! (Random Sorry) Thanks again.

  • thx only 1 problem... i cant read notes.... =p

  • David is definitely the easiest instructor to learn from...followed by Wilie "TWOOOOOOO FIST" Magee.

  • Hey David

I was wondering, are you in the dvds as the teacher?

You are so good at this and want your dvds, but wanted to make sure you are the teacher in them.

  • Thank you so much, mate. This is really helpfull ! :)

  • watch from 06:00 to skip the introduction

  • Thanks alot

  • He's fucking crazy at the start XD. Great video

  • @jbiarnesen Everybody's selling something. If you have a job, you're selling your labor and time. Musicians sell their talent, and some people like him are selling their knowledge. He obviously has put in the years of work it takes to be able to play like this, so why shouldn't he get paid for the knowledge?

You think he should teach the whole world to play guitar for free?

  • @jbiarnesen go to TABABUNGA . COM you will find video guitar tabs with the tablature to the songs posted, anyone can join and upload videos, its free , TABABUNGA THE

  • I focused on electric guitar and shredding technique for about a year and half, and now I want to lay back and practice chord changes. This video was very helpful and inspirational, and you are a fine teacher. Thank you very much, 5 stars, and we appreciate it!!

  • Hey great lesson just strumming open chords can be a bit boring a great easy song that incorporates most of these chords is time of your life by green day, g chord played twice, then cadd9,then d, so dont forget play the 4 finger G then cadd9 and D are much easier, then Em, d, cadd9 then G, then Em to G, a great song , and great practise for these chord changes. hope this helps

  • The land of uncomfortableness?

  • great video! youre a cool teacher!!! five stars!!!!!

  • Thanks for the nice approach and the pep talk to push on.

  • G to Em you just got a song right there "fire water burn - Bloodhound gang" G Em C D is "earth Angel"

  • i just learnt all the changes by playing songs, once i played enough songs i had most of the chord changes.

  • hes right, songs ARE important to the guitar player........cant tell him hes wrong!

  • funny... but songs are the least important thing to me. I just want to be able to play really well

    Bill

  • i learned my changes from going to google and typeing in the song title and then "chords" so lest say "chris young getting you home chords"

and it comes up with it and i turn on the song and i play alog till i get it

but this way is also good

  • You're the man David, keep rocking these videos to us & thanks a £m...:))

  • with this lesson i learnt to play the song wonderwall by oasis really apreciatte ur help rockongoodpeople!!

  • A very good lesson. I've been doing this for several years. I'm not the greatest guitar player in the world, but I can't hit the chord changes. It was just an instinctive thing I guess. I love just strumming chords. Thanks Dave. Keep 'em comin'.

  • Thanks for an excellent video for people like myself who want to learn the basics for playing the most common chords in most rock songs.

Now, what would be the most useful 5 chords?? Anyone? And maybe name a few songs with these 3 to 5 chords?

    Thank you in advance.

    peace.

  • Well, heres 6 chords and 2 songs that would contain only these chords.

    A, Am, C, D, Em,G.

Wish you were here by Pink Floyd.

Take it easy by The Eagles.

  • Thank you and my sore fingers thank you.

  • Getting those badges of honor on those fingertips DAN!! WAY TO GO!!

    KEEP GOING!!!

  • nice, although im at a point where i wanna learn som chords that are more advanced.

could you make a video for that?

  • bo ya ki cha!

  • Very good lesson thanks! More on strumming and rythm please! i feel like im rythm handicapped and whatever i play i always fall back in the same patterns of playing, though i have no problems following instructions playing the d/d/u/u/d things :p.

  • Awesome lesson. I like how you mentioned that it wont come to you right away, it could take a couple of weeks. It is just one of those things you have to keep at.

  • great lesson. thanks for that.

btw: this is my fave acoustic guitar. seen it many times.

which one is it exaclty?? ive seen many similar, but never found it with that color...im loving it

  • Great LEsson

  • what cords did he play in the intro?

  • Sounds kinda like G, D, and A, but I don't know.

  • I'll take a stab at it.

Cadd9 - G Major - D major? IV-I-V? -- you can hear that the thiner strings stay the same between the first two chord changes, and then the voicing changes for the third.

  • G, Cadd9, D, Cadd9, G.

  • U CAN DO IT! LOL

  • great lesson

  • also to add more to what i said, you will notice the acoustic is a electrical acoustic so why no just use a electric guitar like a strat if its easier to play for a beginner?

  • you should learn on acoustic, it really strengthens your fingers because the action/string gauge are typically higher on acoustic, then when going to play electric its like nothing.

  • I agree =) i played acoustic for 3 months, played electric afterwards for 1 year, played an acoustic at sam ash yesterday and it was hard to play barre chords.

  • id like to ask a question,

how come when demonstrating a beginners lesson that people use a acoustic guitar, i was told that they are harder to play because the strings are thicker so why use an acoustic??

surely its nothing to just plug in a guitar to a amp and play?

  • @kaleluk31 well it all depends on the gauge strings you use. you can have strings just as thin as the ones on an electric

  • personal preference i guess

but i think its better to start on accoustic cuz there when you misplay it really shows but with electric your amp might cover it up or your effects might cover it...

+thicker strings make easier and less painful to hit them...

  • Acoustic guitars sound so much better though. :]

Of course it's more about preference. But I just love the sound of an acoustic being played.

  • Sweet Taylor... I'm envious...lol

  • it's tough going....i gotta go get a better guitar first i think..... thanks for the great tips by the way ..... your a great teacher !! best of luck !!
