@wejump2 well that depends on your style of dressage, german or French Classical. no this is not the best representation of the french classical that i know and love, but it is what it is. and besides, my dressage nightmare is watching so called "high-level" riders on their fancy warmbloods ride around with their horses nose to its chest, with the reins tight and the curb over-rotated, while their spurs repeatedly gouge the horse with their flopping legs. i have seen it and it, is not pretty.
Bending the neck in the opposite direction of the movement blocks the inside shoulder. This horse would be much more free in the forleg if he would straighten the neck.
@dragonharte8 its called a shoulder-in. it is very helpful, and a foundation movement of french classical dressage. the purpose is not extension, but cross-over of the legs.
I am so blessed to get the opportunity in a few weeks to audit Dominique at a clinic that is being held at a facility very close to my home. Dominique shares very similar values and ways to my beloved trainer who is sadly moving out of country very soon.... I feel honoured to get the opportunity to see him and his spirit at work.
Honor other's and their opinions of riding. Clearly, you're a Groupie of his and you've made judgements upon us. I've broken, trained and ride PRE's stallions, Lippizans and warmbloods everyday-I too know what works & doesn't work for my horses. (MY HORSES) Personally when you put a video out on YOUTUBE of yourself riding EXPECT to be looked at with a critical eye. He's too fast & yes I can see the saddle. The cantle & channel are tell all signs of fit. Too fast, hard seat & ill fit.
People who have anything negative to say not only never sat on a Lusitano, they also have no idea what it means to just let go, relax and feel the power and energy of the horse to flow from the hindquarters into your completely relaxed hand....
I've only heard good things about Dominique; however, I must agree. What it is ultimate goal here? Is he teaching the horse something? If so, SLOW DOWN.Personally, I don't like a thing about the rider. The saddle doesn't fit him nor the horse....What a shame that poor uncomfortable horse. I've lost interest.
@lexusascheman ... slow down? The saddle doesn't fit? Can you even see the saddle? Plus I bet that it is one of Dominique's personally designed saddles made in France, and there is no better fitting saddle in this world, both for the horse and rider.... .... you just show us another comment of a jealous and uneducated negative person...but it is OK, not everyone has the privilege to have the knowledge...
haha eggy Im just re reading your comment "he rides with his hands ." fantastic observation, would you prefer to watch him ride with the handles of his mustach haha... bet he could do it.
Sorry but he is no Nuno Oliveira ... what happened to him ? I cannot even recognize him from his past videos ? , his posting his horrid , his leg position is just bad , as a result he is collapsed forward so tremendously . Very slapy work , I mean look at 1:42 just horrid , he rides with his hands . Put that horse in a snaffle and I guarantee it will be a different story. He rides with his hands as he just cannot seat any longer and does not have a correct position to influence the horse. Horrid
Hard seat??? Then you really don't know... Dominique is the harmony in person AND there is no softer rider on this planet!!! We all can only dream to even come close to 10% of his riding ability in our lives...
This is a Dressage nightmare.

Simple equine biomechanics:
Bending the neck in the opposite direction of the movement blocks the inside shoulder. This horse would be much more free in the forleg if he would straighten the neck.

What has old got to do with it? There are no young masters of riding.

And does anyone notice that the horse is being beautiful on a loose rein? Now that's beauty.

I'll bet none of the naysayers on these comments has ever sat on a Lusitano Stallion nor will they ever.

A lot of ego in this rider. The horse looks to be less of a horse under this rider. Perhaps he is blowing his own mind?

Many have their opinions on Dominique, the horse is lovely and the music selection is fantastic

I hate that, seat against movement of vertebral collumn of the horse, and against the natural anatomie of the horse too. Very hard seat of the rider.

very nice - we don't get to see too many videos of Dominique in action. Thank you! Lovely horse, too!
