okay wait..i need someone who can make this clearer...like what IS the Grudge really about and what does it mean ...when a the person loses his life a new curse is born? So if the family moved in the house where the grudge lives they take over htere minds and theyrre actually cursed?
@brokeninfinitysonic1 ....in Japanese folklore a Ju-on (curse or grudge) is created when a victim dies as a result of another's rage. If the victim had unresolved issues related to feelings of helplessness that victim returns to the mortal world as a Onryō (a vengeful ghost). The Onryō is confined to the place of their death. Anyone who enters the place where the victim dies becomes a target of the Ju-on and in some fashion will ultimately die.
@brokeninfinitysonic1 ...with that death the Onryō is no longer confined to the original place of death. Thru the death of the target the curse expands, the Onryō can spread out to the places the target could go to in life, thus the Ju-on can spread out and kill family or friends of the targets. A spreading evil until it is recognized for what it is and the proper death rituals are conducted to stop the curse.
@geekeing ooh! so it spreads to 1 target to another? Oh, so the ju-on is actually following the targets life debt and it's also targeting the target's family as well, so thats why everyone dies...oh okay...if i still got this wrong you can correct me if you want
@brokeninfinitysonic1 ...when you refer to "life debt" do you mean karma? If so karma is not a factor in the grudge. Just walking into the cursed house or being close to someone who did enter the house is enough to become a target. Otherwise, you got it!!!....:-)
@geekeing teehee thank you..i enjoyed the movie...i think this is more understanding than the american one..cuz the grudge in the american one wasnt even japanese...i think....
@brokeninfinitysonic1 ....no, the Grudge is still Japanese in nature, but it was dumbed down a bit for American audiences. Stephen Susco wrote the script for the American version when Shimizu Takashi (Takashi is the first name) was both scriptwriter and director for the Jpn original. But there is one saving grace for the American version, Shimizu-san is the director.
@geekeing ooooh....okay.....but the game was kinda okay....it's for the wii but basically it all talked about the family members and you play as them but at the end of the level you die
Boy watching tv: oh no, its snowing so much, I can't see the lady anymore (gets closer to the screan) AHHHHH it won't go away!!!!! (backs up in horror)
exactly, why did kayako kill kobayashi if she is so obssessed with him?? or did kobayashi died of heart attack?? no one seems to answer this question so why??????
@firewrecker ...because Kayako is no longer Kayako, her Spirit is trapped by a curse of blind vengeance because of her death was the result of her husband's rage. In Japanese folklore Kayako is now a Onryō, a vengeful ghost. And her vengeance doesn't follow the Western idea of righting a wrong done to the victim. This vengeance lashes out at anyone within it's sphere of influence, in this case, the Saeki house. And with those new deaths, the curse can spread.
@Mikuru83 ....that would only happen to foreigners. Since all Japanese doors open the same way, everyone already knows not to stand too close. And with a little experience, I'm sure, foreign visitors will know better...lol
@LisaTigressHardy ....the suicide of Takeo Saeki is only seen in the American version, The Grudge. In the original Japanese version Kayako kills Takeo in Ju-on, the 2000 direct-to-video film, which started the series of movies, both Japanese and English.
Kobayashi's wife, Manami, died from having her fetus removed from her body. The fetus of course died in the removal process, and Takeo was behind this. He called Kobayashi from a phonebooth near his house to tell him he had done it. He (Takeo) then leaves the phonebooth with the fetus in a sack. When he stops for a moment, he hits the sack repeatedly on the ground or railing. Takeo, then falls in front of piles of trash and is killed by Kayako's ghost.
@KayHeL Glad to see someone actually takes concern into a movies story line!
I believe that the deaths you listed - Kanna, her brother, their mother - are shown or explained in some kind of prequel or sequel from Juon. I believe it's called Katasumi and 4444444444 - something in similarity - I'm quite sure that this explains Kanna's death and probably her brothers, too.
If not message me and I'll look into it more for you. :)
OKAY, going to clear up the deaths for those who are confused:
Yuki was killed by Kayako when she was pulled into the attic by her. Mizuho was killed by Toshio, while in admist of awaiting for the janitor to return. Kayako was killed by her husband, Takeo. She had her neck twisted at a 90 degree angle, and her throat crushed (hence the gurgling noises she makes). Kobayashi had a heart attack when he fell against the wall, looking at the bloody corpse of Kayako.
what does it mean elementary teacher dies? at the end of ju on 1 they said kobayashi was sent to the hospital, but his wife and baby died... right? or am i confusing that with someone else?
@neroxero ....perhaps you are mixing up the Japanese and American versions? In the original "Ju-on" (2000) Kobayashi dies before he can escape the Saeki house. He dies at the front door by heart attack. In "The Grudge" (2004), Karen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) survives and is sent to the hospital.
@foxfire1500 This is the internet I think you can search it by searcing google not something I will bother explaining. but that was a dumb comment... Shesh it's common sense...
@foxfire1500 ....trolling is a internet slang term. It refers to a person who posts insulting or nonsequitur comments just to annoy others for no good reason. They do it because the troll thinks it's fun. Think of the disputive student who acts out in class just to get attention.

@JapanItWithCortney omg! i freakin thank u ! i will watch it. if ur like me and wanna watch smthin gross u should watch 3 guys 1 hammer-a real video showing 3 guys killing an old man with a hammer accidentally leaked ol. :D
Which Ju-On film am I thinking of? it's the one where Kayako is shown as a young child and she pushes her mother down some steps and kills her. (It may be the newest two films)
@jedfernanlitonjua, I grew up watching all kinds of gory horror movies & I truly enjoyed them! When I was a toddler, I'd sit up at night with my mother & watch them before going to sleep. They actually bothered her instead of me! (^_^)
@oomsbun ....actually no. The original The Ring (Ringu) was released in 1998, 2 years before Ju-on (the original Japanese direct-to-video film, 2000). This one, Ju-on 2 is the sequel later released also in 2000. So Mildseven73's question is valid.
@oomsbun ...no problem. I, myself hadn't seen the original Ju-on until I found it here on YouTube since the original was a local video which was only seen in Japan. Later the official DVD was released to Germany and Scandinavia only. Such a pity, after the movies did so well you would think the original and the sequel would be released internationally too. Myself, I want both for my collection! I wish you success in all you do.
wow, you're a stupid ass mother fucker who needs to understand that the universe doesn't revolve around america and that not everything comes from here. The Ring, The Grudge, all that shit are remakes of movies that are originally Japanese! man, if not leave the U.S. once in a while, you should at least learn a thing or two about the world.
@mildseven73 ...not exactly. While the original Ringu was released in 1998 and Ju-on was released in 2000 both draw on Japanese folklore regarding ghosts. But the major difference between the 2 is the Ringu (Ring) Sadako was a powerful psychic who channels her essence via the tape. Kayako is a traditional ghost; a Yūrei who is trapped on earth due to a strong emotion; anger or hatred.
Yeah but let me add this to make it easier to understand. this is the order of ju-on films (japanese) Ju-on, Ju-on 2, Ju-on: The Grudge, Ju-on: The Grudge 2. So that is 4 total then Here on the U.S. The Grudge was release and it was a remake of the 3rd Japanese film or Ju-on The Grudge. exactly, im half japanese, and as a matter of fact, asians are the people who bathe most often, so EAT THAT!!! because we are clean. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, sorry, something in the movie startled me.
No, the kid is the son of the real estate agent who manages Kayako's house for reselling. Later on it is reveled how the flat that the Real Estate agent and son live in is strongly connected to the curse.
Hardly. Do you really think eveyone can afford it? If you been there, you'll find most of the people actually live half as well as we do here. It's just that they eat more iron, zinc, vitamin B with fresher ingredients (fish and seaweed are great for this) and maintain a regular schedule. You know, simple but consistent stuff that most beautiful people here do as well
most japanese are not rich, but in japanese culture they do have a better diet than Americans, less processed junk food. I've been to Japan and I found even their fries are less greasy than in the USA....lol
it is the 2nd part of the series. This great series started as V-Cinema, direct-to-video productions. It proved so popular efforts made it into the theater versions we all know now...both Japanese and English. And the homemade look, since it was a direct-to-video effort the budget was very small.

What was the point of the first part where the kid was just sitting there watching a movie or something? Is he related to the teacher at all?
JiChau 2 years ago
No, the kid is the son of the real estate agent who manages Kayako's house for reselling. Later on it is reveled how the flat that the Real Estate agent and son live in is strongly connected to the curse.

japanese ppl really concern on beauty. they have better cosmetic tech and thats y they have perfect hair
mynameisahben 3 years ago
Hardly. Do you really think eveyone can afford it? If you been there, you'll find most of the people actually live half as well as we do here. It's just that they eat more iron, zinc, vitamin B with fresher ingredients (fish and seaweed are great for this) and maintain a regular schedule. You know, simple but consistent stuff that most beautiful people here do as well
FoieGras 3 years ago 3
why do Japanese people ALWAYS have perfect hair?? Sooo not fair! Most of them don't even have to photoshop their hair for a shampoo commercial!!
KenyagirLL 3 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
cos they are rich, they can buy a lot of protecting shampoo to make their hair better
mynameisahben 3 years ago
i'm kinda rich too but guess you can buy much better hair products in Japan!
KenyagirLL 3 years ago
@KenyagirLL AAHAHAHA
nekonekobot 1 year ago
most japanese are not rich, but in japanese culture they do have a better diet than Americans, less processed junk food. I've been to Japan and I found even their fries are less greasy than in the USA....lol

@mynameisahben 1 year of this comment being the most stupidest thing evar
nekonekobot 1 year ago
it's because their diet is almost based on rice that it's fibre and food like this, that's why their hair is perfect hahaha :s

RickvanVeldhuizen 3 years ago 2
Actually, this is one of the films.
kyougoki13 3 years ago
yea this is the real movie
merilovessos 3 years ago
not homemade, rather a made-for-TV movie. It proved so popular via video sales it led to the major movie we know today
geekeing 3 years ago
it is the 2nd part of the series. This great series started as V-Cinema, direct-to-video productions. It proved so popular efforts made it into the theater versions we all know now...both Japanese and English. And the homemade look, since it was a direct-to-video effort the budget was very small.
