  • "The hammer is my penis."

  • I WILLL STILLLLL have her babies for her !!!!

  • when mtv was good

  • great song! reminds me my youth!

  • FUCK HEADANDSHOULDERS PUBLICITY AND ALL OTHERS, LET US LISTEN TO MUSIC, NOT SHITTY ADVERT MESSAGES, THEY SUCK!

  • @riclob77 PLEASE PICK ME TO REPRESENT YOUR RAGING AGAINST THE MEDIA MONSTER.

    I TYPE IN CAPS.

  • @toomanylesbos :) I hereby name you my Youtube anti-publicity soldier, just change your nick, there are never too many "lesbos" or "homos", live and let live!

  • shit im a recovering addict and it all makes sense to me lol

  • She's well bendy :D

  • whoooooooooooooooa hot

  • What is with the madness below?? I think I like the LP version better...still amazing though.

  • To anyone who cares: I don't know Kim or anyone else on this thread. I know nothing personally of her past with substance abuse/alcohol. I'm here because I like her music and that she is a strong musician with a clear perspective and style of her own. Her sister went into rehab once (public knowledge) and is doing well now. I wish them both happy and productive lives and hope to hear more music from them in the future. The past is the past.

  • Junky chicks are a blast until you get the conditioning they give...An example: She stole your wallet and is helping you look for it while she giggles, acts all helpless and infantile, and a grown up she smell wafting from her reminds you where you are. Yeah, junky chicks.

  • @kern0099 What is a junky chick?? Your second sentence didn't make any sense, I'm curious to what you are talking about, though!

  • @lovingthejourney A chick like Kim Deal who is addicted to Heroin, methamphetamine, Pharmas, you name it. Nice to see an obvious troll asking leading questions after my above post, it bolsters my faith in the eternally bored to continually come up with nothing better to do. Congratulations. BTW, a Junky chick stealing from you and then pretending to help you recover the goods makes perfect sense to you, you've heard it all before in a previous hipster life, remember?

  • @kern0099 Excuse me, all I did was ask a sincere question about something I've never heard before. I didn't know what a "junky chick" was. I only started looking up Kim Deal songs because I was listening to that song Cannonball (the only song I ever knew from this group) and then came to this video and saw your post. I had no idea that she was addicted to heroin. PS, I'm not a troll and never been a "hipster," lol

  • @lovingthejourney kim is an alcoholic, not a junky, as you erroniously point out. why do you dolts talk about things other than their wonderful songs? Fuck off. kelley had a heroin problem, but she is alive and well and still creating. You people need to get a life...one that does not entail hopping on a bandwagon. ARGGGGGGHh

  • @FlaviasCucumber I didn't point it out, Kern0099 did. What you said about Kelley is what I had read, too, and that she's doing well and has her own show on the DIY network, which is great. I was simply trying to appease Kern because he/she seems to have been hurt by Kim in the past. I came to this video simply to see more of Kim's work and saw Kern's note and questioned it. I don't give a crap who smoked or drank what in the past! I'm happy everyone is clean and sober now. That's what counts

  • @kern0099 The reason I was asking about your post, btw, was this sentence: "She stole your wallet and is helping you look for it while she giggles, acts all helpless and infantile, and a grown up she smell wafting from her reminds you where you are." That last part about "and a grown up she smell wafting from her reminds you where you are" didn't make any sense to me. This is the reason I was asking about your post. I'm sorry that happened to you. I wouldn't be friends with anyone like that.

  • @lovingthejourney Well, apologies for calling you a troll, but this...

"I wouldn't be friends with anyone like that."

It's a throwaway line when you consider making music and making a band work. You'd break it up to "not be friends"? You'd have no band or future with that attitude. As I pointed out in the above post, I wish you luck with your boredom. You are 100% potential at this point, so there's definitely an upside. You should check out some Pixies music next. Cheers.

  • @kern0099 I didn't know you had played wtih them. How would I know that??I thought maybe you had just hung around them for a while. Yes, it would be complicated if would affect your career or future. I don't know why you attacked me for an innocent question, "What is a junky chick?" I told my husband about this interaction with you and he said, "She's talking about junkies, dealers." LOL, the way you spelled "junky" threw me off. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • @kern0099 I will check out the Pixies, thx. ok, I may be boring. I'm a proud mom of one, and am busy with him most of the time or helping my husband. In my "spare" time I listen to music and explore new artists. If you knew me IRL, I would have tried to get our kids together for a playdate or invited you over for dinner. I try to be nice and do the right thing. I don't hurt people intentionally.I do wish you all the best. Peace.

  • @lovingthejourney I didn't say you were boring, I said you were bored.

  • Kim Deal she was so hot! And talented!

  • AN MTV LOGO, BLASPHEMY!

  • One of the 90s best tunes!

  • Thumbs up if you masturbate to this video... at least until Cartman appears :P

  • Kudos to all of you who actually know what kind of 'divine hammer' she is looking for. Kim Deal had a filthy, filthy mind - go watch 'Gigantic' by The Pixies for more.

  • i've always thought that this song references, or was influenced by Pete Seeger's "If I Had a Hammer."

  • so i'm guessing "hammer" is code for a certain part of the male anatomy. good song.

  • @eydie57 maybe it's about the thor comics

  • @eydie57 nope...but close.....strap an atrificial on her guitar player & figure it out!

  • @f1471in3r Well the guitar player is her twin sister so I don't think that is quite right

  • @1callumcallumcallum1 I never said they were right.

  • @eydie57 No, pretty sure she has a predilection for carpentry :)

  • I'm trying to cover this song, it's harder than it sounds.

  • Kim Deal, LOVE.

  • I'd hammer early '90s Kim Deal any day. Yum...

  • @MegaAries1992 motha fuker!!!!!

  • Je suis le 1000ème vote ^^

    And I love this song!

  • pffft.... yeah i think it is,that is my opinion.

  • I'd like to take my tool and bang Kim and Kelly...bang bang...all day bang bang

  • the song is actualy about sex !!!! not drugs or god

  • @SuperMISTERW pffft...yeah

  • back then, she was also looking for "one divine bag of scag..."

  • "Gigantic", "Divine Hammer"...what's the DEAL, Kim ? lol

  • I love Kim Deal! She should be Kim Cotter!

  • I miss the Breeders!

  • thor's new theme song, lol

  • what does she need a hammer for? what is she building?! does it really have to be a divine hammer?! they don;t sell those at wal*mart....I'm gonna try lows and home depot tomorrow ...WE CAN BUILD THIS!!! WHATEVER IT IS!!! BOB WILL HELP!!!!

  • Beautiful song and the sexiest music video ever. Perfect.

  • 1:48

  • OK?

  • I'd bang it all day.

  • Love this song. Wished I am the Green Eyed Goddess's divine hamer.

  • id bang it all day n all. you know what, you have such a filthy mind.

  • i effin love the breeders

  • I'm not trying to brag, but my girlfriend looks EXACTLY like the lead singer of the breeders, it's uncanny!

  • @sammyh1982 Is your girlfriend her sister?

  • Young Kim Deal is so awesome.

  • @kwizzeh So is the old Kim! :)

  • I just wish that i wasn't smoking some much pot and drinking back in the '90s. LOL. When I wasn't, I was too busy with football in high school and just getting into th Army in '95. Next thiing you know it, I'm married and my wife is popping out kids. :-) Didn't really sit back and appreciate a lot of the good music we had back then (rock and rap). 120 Minutes I used to watch after wor (I worked late nights). There is still some good msc but not so much now onthe mainstream level. It will be back

  • @jkbezo you sold out!!

  • @RedSoreLips

    Haha

  • I think listening to this yesterday led to a dream, which helped me locate my Dad's Estwing framing hammer from 1977. I am not kidding. Yesterdays earworm. This morning I open the shed, move piece of plywood and there it is. I knew it wa there when i opened the shed, I had a flashback...I have been looking for it for weeks, even replaced it with an inferior hammer from Lowes....

  • did she ever find it?

  • Awesome.

  • I just wanna hug her.

  • Some of the old school framers will tell you that a eastwing is a great hammer, Yes, they are more durable but I wouldn't call them the greatest hammer on the planet. Kobalts are overrated, I tried one for a while but they have a bad swing to them. For the money, you can't beat a craftsman, they are very comfortable and have a lifetime warranty. So in the end, if you are looking for a divine hammer, look no further than your local sears store.

  • *already not ever, righter for sure ;)

  • my divine .... for u kim i luv u

  • I wish i have spent my adolescence in the '90s!

  • It's about a hammer!! Not drugs, not sex.....a freakin hammer!! She looking for a good hammer, maybe a finish or a waffle face. She needs to go to lowes or home depot.....just don't buy a kobalt hammer, they suck !!

  • @markx64 I remember this song from the olden days, she's looking for the perfect female orgasm.

  • @RedSoreLips She's looking for evidence for the existence of god(s). She's an atheist and that's what the song is about, the futile search for divinity in a material world. This isn't a half baked YouTube theory, it's straight from the lips of Kim.

  • sounds like a Dota move.

  • i found this song on a skate video. It was beast

  • @jamjuice1a Toy Machine Flow Team!!! crazy shit :)

  • @3mexico lol yea

  • arent we all????? if i find one i am gonna cut it off n take it home. he will just have to sit down n pee lmao

  • try the tool department at Sears

  • I gotta 23 ounce Deluge...Its hanging in my garage...

  • this is different from the album version!

  • 1:48 lols

  • DAMN!! kim is sexy!!!

  • @Dltn97 I discovered some good music today...

  • If you like this version, get the single. It's different from the LP version.

  • oh to find a divine hammer - sigh.

  • @sivvyx01 you hit the nail on the head with this comment.

  • Comment removed

  • she needs a good hammering... i'm up to the task!!!

  • id bang it all day.

  • Hammer of Thor and Sickle of Saturn...

  • By devine hammer , do they mean huge COCK!!!???

  • @RobinDropping just a really good fuck

    orgasmic

    just one divine hammer

  • @AdiLenoir I don't think they get the 'one devine hammer ' any more , I think it's a walking stick made out of an old mans penis from hell . Their music is still good though.

  • A Breeders video directed by Kim Gordon/ Spike Jonze/ Richard Kern...

No actual video can top the amount of talent in this piece.

  • back when mtv played music

  • you can score a pretty good hammer at you local hardware store.

  • @TheManolakis So , what does a hammer have to do with a hotel ?

  • @ 0:15 homegirl is reading the first issued fanzine of Bikini Kill.

  • Comment removed

  • Is Josephine Higgs a lesbian?

  • I saw them open for Nirvana in Nov of 1993, what an amazing show. L7 were there too...in Miami...

  • i miss 90's alternative..):

  • You people should all stop breeding!! great song and memories though..

  • 1:14... aww

  • Love the harmony....

  • hmmmm HAMMER!

  • she comes to my local starbucks

  • @jediknight73 lucky son of a gun

  • @jediknight73 Thats really cool. People like Kim should still to this day get mobbed in public!

  • One of the great ladies of rock. Looking hot as hell here.

  • Kim Deal rules!

Too bad.....after the 90s, she become too much toxicated with her stuff and becoming fat.....

Hope she will start training again!

  • @Rudeawakening333 male artists get fat all the time and and go bald and people still love them and would never be so disrespectful...

  • One of the songs that just make me smile and dance. Yeah.

  • @saincai As wrong as this comment is... i had to give it a thumbs up because it made me laugh when i was down.

  • @saincai what are ya talking about? tools n shit

  • @saincai Interestingly, that is EXACTLY what this song is about.

  • @saincai Perhaps ironically (or maybe not at all) from what I understand the song is exactly about that.

  • i would

  • I love the flying nun scene.

  • Man, this song brings back memories. In my opinion, music was a lot more soulful in the early to mid 90's. I actually got to see the Breeders in San Diego, @ Lollapalooza '94. Unfortunately, a bunch of idiots started throwing water bottles at them, so their set ended early. After that, the audience got a lecture from the Beastie Boys, Green Day, & the Smashing Pumpkins. Nirvana was actually supposed to be there, but Cobain had already passed away. Luckily, I got to see them in December of '93.

  • @himes6489 thats a bastard about the audience. i would have been gutted

  • @himes6489 you sir, have lived.

  • @himes6489 That's an old tactic bands use if they don't feel like playing , set up a false flag operation . It works all the time and people are none the wiser. They still get their paycheck too.

  • @himes6489

This entire post is made of win. I can still recall how stoked I was that Nirvana was (seemingly) headlining Lollapalooza in 1994. Then, of course, Kurt Cobain killed himself. Man, that sucked.

  • @himes6489 lucky you. And I agree.

  • @himes6489

I heard about a time when an all female band opened up for Nirvana, and the audience kept throwing stuff at them. Kurt Cobain was so pissed that he purposely made his show mostly feedback. I would've loved to see Nirvana defend the Breeders!

  • @scartissue94 -thats awesome

  • @scartissue94

I don't know if this happened several times but I was in a Nirvana show in Buenos Aires. The opening band was Hole. And the audience were spiting and throwing things to the girls. There was a lot of feedback in the Nirvana show yes. But Cobain did another thing: he played the initial riff from Smells like teen spirit three times in differents moments, but didn't played the entire song...

  • @ricoramavideo That's because no one likes courtney love. And Kurt hated playing SLTS after a while, so he stopped playing it live.

  • @ricoramavideo Wasn't it Calamity Jane ??

  • @dummytree maybe

  • @himes6489 Yeah, I love the music from that era. I got to see The Breeders at the '94 Lollapalooza at The Gorge in Washington. It was such a great set of bands that year.

  • @eqsheiky I saw them at Lollapalooza in Charlotte. Great show. Very nice memory.

  • a lot, yeah...

  • Different to the lp version ??

  • I'd be her divine hammer if she still looked like that!

  • @InspectriceGadget

the breeders are so much better than elastica

  • @MrPixxxan Oh nooo I don't agree although I don't know very well the Breeders. Hva you ever listened to a lot of Elastica songs? (I mean, not only Connexion or Stutter etc, Blue and 2:1 for instance? =)

  • @InspectriceGadget *have you

  • @InspectriceGadget Elastica totally copied The Breeders. Justine admitted so many times...

  • @mercuriopiccoli oh yes, know it and Elastica members were sued by Strangers too! but personally i still don't think their songs were influenced a lot by them, in my humble opinion Elastica's songs are "catchier"... ;)

  • @mercuriopiccoli *Stranglers sorry, haha !!!

  • @InspectriceGadget have you ever heard "Three Girl Rhumba" by Wire? please do it....

  • @mercuriopiccoli yep thanks, i've ever heard it... ;p Another E.'s influence, mmm...

  • @MrPixxxan Nope, not.

  • @MrPixxxan NO WAY !!! Mylie Cylon!!

  • "Last Splash" is one of the great albums of the 90s. I'd put it up with "Nevermind," "Vitalogy" and "Siamese Dream."

  • @NeilHolmes72 Couldn't agree more. The only thing is that you listed only 4 great albums of the 90s. There was at least 100 if not 500. Last Splash is definitely up there with the greats of 90s music. This album and song bring back good and bad memories of my teenage years back then. Kind of like the song "1979."

  • apart from my wife, i trully love kim deal... i really do.

  • Fans of this song look for 'You Always Hang Around' a rare demo track that this song is totally based on

  • this song reminds me of when buffy uses anya's demon ex boyfriend's hammer to defeat gloria whose an evil god trying to use buffy's sister as the key to open all the dimensions.

    righteous!

  • The early 90's- the last stand of rock.

  • i think this is the best video ever.

  • still sexy .. love it

  • Id give Kim a divine hammer...gladly lol

  • I always thought the Breeders were the female Pavement

  • every man alive wishes they were Kim Deals 1 divine hammer

  • totally true!

  • Brilliant simple little tune :D
