I was having problems but noticed that I had ANOTHER system DEF file in my mugen1 folder inside of data folder also. I just changed that system DEF file only and that fixed me right on up. Hope that helps

I wonder for those folks saying it doesn't work if it has to do with their operating system. I've done this example before and got the music for select and vs to work on Windows XP but when I upgraded to Windows 7 it doesn't seem to be recognizing it.

I checked the System dot def file many times and everything is correct. It's gotta be the computers OS. It's an incompatibility issue.

IT works you just have to make sure people understand that a file like "file name 01" will not work you have to rename it to "file_name_01" yes it worked for me thank you very helpful

i think the reason why so many people are having problems is because with some mugens you have to add the mp3 file name in another system.def. its in the data folder in the mugen1.

the mugen1 is the default screen pack.

that's why this isn't working for a lot of people because you have to add it there.

i found this the hard way.

It works well, but the only thing is that, since I converted a WAV file to MP3 from RPG Maker 2003 in Format Factory, and changed my fadeout/fadein to 20, it will not play the versus character noise. The other songs will, but when I exit with ESC to the main menu, it is inaudiable. I did it right, I guess it is just the way it is supposed to be.

Please reply, I know you said it would be an error on my part but it just seems to be an error.

I put this in the title screen bgm section: sound/06_Open_Your_Heart_(MAIN­_THEME_OF_SONIC_Adventure).mp3 and I placed it in the sound folder. I opened up Mugen with no errors except from the fact that the music doesn't play. Please, DarkValentine, if you have had this error or you know how to fix it them please comment back!

i have the same error aswell, i think it's abit unfair saying that if it doesn't work it's OUR error, there are new mugen versions and some screenpacks don't work like others which may be the problem, try doing it on different screenpacks, different mugen versions etc

@Poowetisnub I just noticed that if you download a program XP Codec Pack 2.0.6 (which allows you to use OGG files) and then import OGG files to your Mugen instead of an Mp3 then it works fine!

Also if you have notice by his video, if you copy and paste the name of your MP3 song title iand if it has space in between it rename it and use under scores or the system file will not read it.

Example:

Sonic Rush Theme: Not this way

Sonic_Rush_Theme

so it is Sound/Sonic_Rush_Theme.Mp3

then the system will read it other then that it will fail on you.

4 people having problems with the screen size go 2 the mugen cfg file in data folder, find the video win section and change the top width to 1000 and top height 700 and the bottom width and height to 500. if this dosent work change the depth to 16 and stretch 1 hope this helps :)

I noticed one main thing I did everything right but after getting the right plugin only one of the songs I used worked. After trying almost all of my songs I found what it was. You cannot have spaces in your song. You need to either have _'s between spaces or change the title to one word. After that bam worked.

its your plugins, you probably have the default plugin which in mad_dll,which that one that doesnt work for alot of people,youll need to find a new plugin,since plugins is what plays music in mugen

@Darklordcomp the reason it isnt working might be because you have a newer version, the problem with the newer one is that there are two system files, one under data, and one under mugen1(which is in data folder) the mugen1 system file is the one to add music to. Hope that helps to anyone with the newer version.

if u install a screenpack, ur screenpack-folder will have a system.def-file by its own. maybe you must edit this file, not the system-def in the data-folder, cuz maybe its out of use.
