GungHo Online Entertainment has released the first video of Ragnarok Online DS for the Nintendo DS. Players will be able to control their characters via the stylus on the touch screen, wifi-play for up to 3 players at once will also be available. The game is due for release on December 18 in Japan.

you just used your ds to control your pc that runs RO, Although RO will be released on this, it can't be called massive like the RO on pc. DS can't handle such bandwidth that a pc can. So all of you expecting to play RO online on DS the way you play it on PC, I't won't happen anytime soon.

RO DS can only handle up to 4 multiplayer online and 4 is not massive.

It's a custom client written for the DS, with a normal ragnarok client running on my laptop to show that the DS client actually walks around and talks. If you look at my Browedit videos you can see I've hacked my way through the internals of RO, a simple 2D client isn't that hard to make

Honestly, it needs to be MMO-ish for it to be fun for the majority of people, or else they'll need to completely revamp the way you play. RO was fun, but only because you're playing with friends online.

I don't know where you got this from, but there will be a wifi function in the game. Player can use either wifi or wireless to play it with 2 other players. There isn't any point to call it Ragnarok Online if it doesn't even wifi function...

Now, there is a game called "Ragnarok Online" coming to DS as a Ragnarok MMORPG for DS.

They are different things. This has nothing to do with the official game.

I used PAlib because I'm too lazy to get too deep into DS development, and this was more a proof of concept then an attempt to create a real client. I'm working on some PC-stuff at the moment, an RO mapeditor to be precise, so I can convert the RO maps to a proper format for the DS later on. (and btw, PAlib's a really nice library to start coding on the DS)
