  • Jack Lemmon, one of the most original actors in history!

  • Are Ferrante and Teicher the original composers of this tune??

  • The harmonica song and its orchestration, from "Free Willy", were also based on this timeless melody. I wonder which version caught Lord Webber's ear around the mid-'90s?

  • @dappiano1 Was wondering that myself. Looking at the timing (and that his kids would have been about the right age to have him bring them to see it or own a VHS of it) I'd suspect it was the Free Willy riff that caught his ear.

Which means that, if that was based off this, that he managed to rip them both off in one go. Well done, Lord Webber. Well done. *Slow clap*

  • Love never dies...

  • @TheEvilflea I have seen this film before but as I get older, I sometimes see films in a different light. I can sure see why it had so many Oscar nominations. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Are there any lyrics to the apartment starring Jack Lemmon.

  • @MrGbakarich Not sure if there are lyrics. Enjoyed watching your singing.

  • @TheEvilflea Just finished watching it...I cried too! Beautiful story; beautiful music.

  • One of the best songs of my life!!!! The song tells everything!!!!

  • Theme from The Apartment sky rockets the duo-piano team of Ferrante & Teicher in to overnight success. Beautiful melody intro segues to the huge Theatrical ending. Some of Ferrante/Teicher/Costa's best works together! Sold 2.5 million singles in 1960.

  • As much drama as "Warsaw Concerto"

  • Ferrante & Teicher is great! Please add a bonus by uploading the version with lyrics. thnx

  • I saw this movie over the summer for the very first time in my life. I loved it, I couldn't believe that Fred MacMurray would play such a bad man in this movie. I wish I could buy this wonderful movie. I don't know why they cal it a comedy though, because seeing Shirley MacLaine trying to kill herself with sleeping pills as Miss Kubelick was NOT funny OR that doctor smacking her HARD.

  • @Sheri451 Have you seen Double Indemnity, another Wilder film with Fred MacMurray? He is wickedly evil in that film.

  • @ABALLAM3 No but I'll look for it on TCM. I;ve never saw Fred MacMurray in anything that he wasn't a nice man in until The Apartment.

  • You are welcome Loyd. There's also an interesting anecdote with the arrangement of Exodus by Don Costa. Ferrante and Teicher were concerned that there was too much classical piano type playing in the arrangement and Costa told the brilliant duo to trust him, it wasn't too classical sounding. After the huge success of Exodus which climbed to number 2 on all the chart's making it their highest rated single ever, Teicher said that he and Ferrante were very glad they listened to and trusted Costa!

  • This arrangement and Exodus for Ferrante and Teicher, were arranged by one of the most brilliant arranger's ever, Don Costa.

  • I can't even describe how much I love this movie. One of my all time favourites.

  • Lloyd Weber's been dipping in here for Love Never Dies...

  • Lloyd Weber's been dipping in her for Love Never Dies...

  • Preciosa canción; bellísima película: un canto al amor fiel que deja todo para ganarlo.

    ¿Donde puedo encontrar la película?

  • a true classic!!!

  • Life must have been so much sweeter when there was music like this. Now, what do we have?

  • This is just wonderful!

It's my all time favourite film, this music is beautiful :)

    Thank you!

  • Your work does this great piece beautiful justice....thank you.............

  • Also written by Charles Williams

  • I love this music

  • Thanks for this upload, the sound is very clear. If you have "one eyed jack" please share with us. It is the theme from the picture with Marlon Brando

  • The top of of fifty years ago, 1960. "the Apartment".

  • It seems Andrew Lloyd Webber likes this theme; search "Andrew Lloyd Webber Love Never Dies".

  • @smichelle65 He sure does!

  • is it jealous lover or the key to love?

  • this song entitled "the key to love" was sung and recorded by a group.does anyone have a copy?

  • I love the melody of this song....one of the finest!!! Loved too the face of Shirley McLaine..

  • Brilliant movie, and excellent theme music!

  • How can I ever forget this music !!! It occupies the very soft part of my heart.....It will live there forever......and ever and ever.........till the sun and the stars exist no more.......hmm poetic, huh.....

  • I love the 2:17, the way that sounds the violins.

  • What a great movie. I was young like Jack and shirley when i saw this in 1960

  • Grande composizione!

    Grazie

    Sal

  • Great movie great actors well writen have watched many times great

  • One of my all-time favorite films. Every performance in this film was great and, as usual, Jack Lemmon was wonderful. One of the few actors who could do comedy and drama equally well.

  • Great movie, even better screenplay. One of the best....

  • the best film beatiful music

  • I saw it too when it came out 49 years ago and many times since. It is an absolute classic. What Billy Wilder captured beyond a love story is the decadent world brought on by the dehumaniziation of corporations. A more recent movie with Kate Winslet and Leonardo de Caprio "Revolutionary Road" captures the desparation of the times. Also, in the 1950s were "The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit" (Gregory Peck) and 1940s "BF's Daughter" (Barbara Stanwyck) and "Ten North Fredrick" (Gary

    Cooper).

  • great movie, shirley mclean ,a great jack lemmon and truly great performance by the most underatted actor in hollwood history-fred macmurray, the theme song is nothing short of brilliant.the movei came out the year my dad was born

  • This is perhaps my most favorite movie of all time!!!

  • Just finished watching it with my mom...it made me teary toward the end, hahaha.

Aw, it's such a wonderful film.

  • For years..I've tried to find out the title of the theme music

for "The Apartment"? Now..I finally found out what the title is..? It's "Jealous

    Lover".

  • .................did you read the credits?

  • Me enamoré de Jack Lemmon en esta película, y eso que me había conquistado antes en "Con faldas y a lo loco", después con "Irma la Dulce":...ufff...como se le echa de menos! aiiins

  • A great movie.

    Great song too.

  • Can someone upload the fab music that was playing when Baxter was drunk and dancing with a broad in a bar at the end of the evening....

  • this movie is my favorite of all time. no, it's not the best movie I've ever seen. but it caters perfectly to every part of my personality: I love new york city, billy wilder's writing, jack lemmon's personality, a good love story, more than decent humor, and everything else about this movie. it's just so perfectly me.

  • A timeless classic. I LOVE this movie!

  • One of my favourites too. I saw it when it was first released in 1960 and have watched it countless times since. I won't say I know the dialogue back to front but...almost!!

  • this has been my favorite ever since i was a little boy in 60's. it was used as theme song in daily night soap, veinte y quatro oras (pinoy syempre!)

  • very very dramatic! full of emotio1don't what i feel inside everytime i listen to this piece. magnificent!!!!!!!!!!

  • For Mike

  • Most simple and romantic, fine arrangement, beautifully fitting the evenly simple but intriguing plot

  • GREAT movie, one of my favorites from this time period. Thanks for posting this.

  • Absolutly beautiful...the film was superb...thanks so much.

  • What a memorable movie with such quirky, unforgettable characters. Jack Lemmon superb in every scene.

  • OH! Thank you! The best arrangement of Charles Williams' song (and used by Deutsch in 60's "The Apartment" score). Man, I played this so much when I was 4 I think my parents wanted to give me up. Bellissimo!

  • Sadly, Lou Teicher died on August 3, 2008 of a massive heart attack. Google search it for more info. But his legacy will live on through his music as will his reputation as such a nice guy to those who were fortunate enough to know him.

  • This was a #10 Pop single in September of 1960, the 2nd of three Top 10's for Ferrante & Teicher.

  • This is absolutely the best arrangement of The Apartment. I'm sure that Chopin would be very envious.

  • Beautiful...thank you so much.

  • This sounds like Ferrante and Teicher. Is it? Yeah, it's got to be them. Just great music. Thanks for posting it.

  • yep its them.

  • @cobalt100 I hear distinct sounds of Ray Conniff

  • This is great! I've always loved The Apartment. Thanks for the upload.
