this shoulda won best rap album, not relapse. i was already pissed when Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II by raekwon, was not nominated. that was another sick album of 2009.
I cant find this song anywhere...Its not on any copy of "the Renaissance" Ive had...Q-tip is a beast and lead the way for a lot of smooth flow rappers of the 90s-2000...
Ahh well I honestly don't like lil wayne's music but ya gotta appreciate that it does diversify music. Not to mention most of that stuff is for the club. It just so happens..a lot of it that stuff is flooding the airways now. For ppl who like qtip and the artists along that lineage that it's music from these new mainstream artists that help us to appreciate this kind of music more.
i find it interesting that when i first started listening to this I thought it was an R& B album, but now I see its true rap, with an R&B feel, and jazzy sung hooks. U gotta let it grow on you. Most people dont have the patience. they say R&B, gay... love shit im done. Q-tip is bringing a fusion to rap, never really heard b4. he built on his Kamal the abstract album incredibly.
So many people here didn't listen to the whole song "Move". Half of these comments are "this song isn't on the album", LOL. I heard this beat when I put the CD in my car, but when I got home I couldn't find it. That shit tripped me out.
woodnt say singlehandedly, but i feels you bra! The Renaissance is easily one of the best albums to come out in the last 5 yrs! i'm feelin this album like porno hoes! ish is nutz!
Damn right. He actually recorded this before Amplified, but they didn't think it was mainstream enough so they never released it. Bastards...this is what Amplified SHOULD'VE been...Damnit Tip...I love you mayne.
To me, Q beautifully demonstrated my belief and philosophy towards this entire music thing: that there is no Ol' Skool, no New Skool, no underground, above ground, middle ground, stuck between concrete and sand, or however many pathetic titles there are for distinguishing ONE genre of music. He clearly showed that amongst this new age (with regards to mainstream entertainment), creating music WITH substance is surely possible.
I love the song and most importantly, the man behind this jam who's been putting it down for years as marvelously as possible: the ONE and ONLY Q-Tip of Hip-Hop's most remarkable "Tribe." The world was waiting for this "comeback" for ages (I say comeback with quotation marks cause to true fans, the man was never gone; true, gone from the media's eyes but never from his fans' hearts.) Quality music at its PUREST form!
Every a tribe called quest fan go buy this album, its solid. If it was'nt for the old school there would be no new school. We have to keep the true essence of hip hop alive because everything should'nt be commercial.
the true essence still exists in new artists today..check out the main video on my page..up and coming hip hop/jazz band called ArtOfficial..your welcome
Q-Tip is a Legend & Classic artist! He is schooling them others how Hip-Hop supposed to be! Shout out to Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def for keeping it real, too!
not my favorite song on the album, but i feel like every other song on it is! the album is a testament that hiphop is very alive, and that dope beats and sick spits are still achievable if you've got the creativeness in you. keep it up Q!

This is the sample J Dilla used on one of the songs on Welcome to Detroit, the song featured Phat Kat. In my opinion Dilla used the sample better.

i think q-tip would sound a whole lot better if phife was there to back him up, and if shaheed was there giving the beats like the old times,
(not saying that q-tip is bad, he's a fucking legend!)

Most Tribe beats were made by Tip, Not shaheed.
