I Tim. 2 was written by Paul about a specific situation like a similar one in the Corinthian church. Schaap has not researched context of this letter. Paul had women who worked with him - Phoebe, Priscilla, Junia, and others. He would not talk against what he himself was doing. Ephesus was a center for goddess worship and a defamation of men by women in that cult. Schapp needs to do a true study here instead of preaching what he WANTS Paul to say! This is good preaching. The problem with you people is that you want everything your way. You cant have God your way or Religion or even your own way to heaven. You hate anyone who stands where God stands. Get over it and realize you can not keep us from our freedom of speech that comes from God and protected by our constitution. Just for those who want to separate fact from hogwash:

The Bible DOES say that the husband is to be the head of the household, and that pastors and elders should be male. It also DOES say that the first person to sin was a woman.

It does NOT say that women are responsible for the suffering of the world. Adam and Eve both sinned. Duh. The Bible emphasizes that while women and men have different roles, they are equally important.

Just a heads up from one of today's more liberal Christians.

@danfuhry Glad to hear a voice of reason; now are you ready for another? The Bible was written by men; many of whom were forgers wanting, like this idiot to promote their own doctrines. Only 7 of Paul's 13 letters in the canon of scripture are authentic and the one that talks about women being silent etc. is a forgery in Paul's name to convey that message that women are inferior. Women HAVE had a bad rap since early times based on Eve taking the fruit and Adam not having the cajones to resist.

Has anyone tried to work out what proportion of religious people hold extremist views like this, what proportion try to draw out the more positive messages such as the (admittedly pre-christian) golden rule and what proportion no longer take the bible literally but are drawn to churches because they believe that they offer a sense of community and can (but not always do) inspire good deeds? If society cannot deal with these dangerous wierdos then I can't see religion surviving the century.
