@1993afk Yeah this is one of mine. It will take sometime to sift through all of their music, but i think of them like the MGMT of the 70's and 80's. Each release was so different from the last, and yet kept that mystic sound of songs about aliens and space time and other weird shit lol
These guys put forth musical genius instrumentally, and seem serious enough at first, then throw in some lighthearted vocal content just to have fun with us. listen for yourself
Yes, they are great, but, did they just have the last laugh, on us? These lyrics, they suckered us in, and now I feel like I've been had. But I enjoyed it.
@sooner3153 every musician has the last laugh... they make competitive creatures in a hostile world forget who they are and become innocent, hypnotized by ultimately inconsequential sounds echoing out into the void
I met Eric and Buck just after this album came out and you could tell that they knew how underrated this album was and would be, but they seemed to be in it for the music not the game of bullshit the world shovels. God bless true musicians and their passion. These guys are bad ass and as long as we believe and keep listening to their music they will always rock.
The cover Buck did of this and Harvest Moon on 'The Red & the Black' record with Ron Riddle and Jon Rogers are sweet renditions of a couple of his songs in need of some polishing and updating.
The more I listen to this song, the more I like it.
I also wonder if this song has any connection to the Imaginos concept. It makes me think of the moment Imaginos is resurrected from under the 'perfect' water. There's mention of the gulf stream (Gulf of Mexico?) and the life of perfect order - seeing his role as Desdenova and his place among the subhumans (Blue Oyster Cult). It seems to fit.
@Pablotwohundred Underrated is a phrase that follows this band everywhere. I hope they got filthy damn rich making their amazing music, so they can laugh at the millions who don't know how great they are. If I were stranded on a desert island with one band's music, theirs would keep me happy as long as I needed it....
Other than Buck Dharma and his amazing sense of making fine pop songs complete with beautiful solos, the drumming in this song adds a cool touch to the song as well. Thump bump ba thump-thump bump ba thump-thump bump ba thump
Best song on Club Sandwich by far. Too bad Joe Bouchard's original bass line was replaced by Kenny Aaronson stutter-playing crap (he ruined this great song just like he did with the version of Astronomy on Imaginos).
This band is a legend among legends.

I liked Shadow Warrior the best for this title, but this song really does revitalize the energy for club ninja.

great song. If I didn't know this was BOC, and you tried to fool me and tell me it was one of the 80s incarnations of Yes, I might well believe you.

This is one of their best songs - very original lyrics.

This song really does make me wish I could live in the ocean. Someone should set it to some film or images of DC's Aquaman

Lyrics are by Jim Carrol (of the basketball Diaries fame)
BOC's Live version of this on A long days Night is actually better IMHO. More sense of urgency and aggressive.
