  • Awesome tutorial. I used it to change the serpentine on my '95 Grand Cherokee Limited. Thanks!

  • I've got a 4.7L 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited. Does anyone know how to remove/replace the PCV? This is the NEW location (not on the oil filler tube) ... it's on the drivers side and under a cable bundle and very hard to get to. I read that it has to be unscrewed ... is this true? Someone also mentioned a "large socket" if so what size? How do you do this job? Appreciate the info/help.

  • Your video was a life saver!... Thanks for making it!

  • @NessaR2975 You're welcome! I am glad that it helped someone!

  • You showed the way… PERFECT!! My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo just turned 100,00 miles. So the time was right to renew the belt. I purchased a DAYCO Poly Rib belt at Advance Auto for $28.00. I used a 1/2-inch drive breaker bar with the suggested 15mm socket & the job went smoothly. The longer handle of the breaker bar made moving the tensioner easier. Thanks for your help.

  • Any help on a 2001 Cherokee Sport 4.0L? Just bought a dayco w/o AC serpentine belt til I can afford a compressor. Don't know if I wanna go the used route. Got a 120K miles on my truck already.

  • @TimeKoder13 - All depends on the cost of the compressor - if you can score a deal on lightly used one and don't care about it lasting more than 50k miles, I would suggest do that. That 4.0 is a great little engine and can rack up some miles if you take care of her. If you aren't sure what size belt to get, you can always run a string around where the belt goes and measure it/then tell the parts guy. Anywho, keep me updated - I love all things Jeep (this is my third)!

  • Sweet, Is their a great deal of difference between the 07 and 08 4.7? One has 230 hp and other has 305 hp. Looking to get a used commander, gas prices r at 3.00 per gallon in California, no hemi, but the 4.7 looks like a good choose. What do you think thanks bro

  • @LerdoBurgerPimp I say go for the newer version of the 4.7L for it has a lot more HP. You can go on the website called WKJeeps and it will explain all the details between model years. I say get it and wheel the pee out of it!

  • @LerdoBurgerPimp - If I am not mistaken, that is the year they did bump up the HP. That kind of increase is definitely noticable. If I had to do it all over again, I would have just ponied up the extra couple grand for the Hemi. If the prices are the same on the 07 vs 08 4.7L, then I would definitely get the 08. The 230hp is OK, but if you are like me, you will greatly appreciate the extra 70 ponies. This is a 5600lb vehicle after all! Also check out the site wkjeeps.

  • @jbrunsonjr Sweet, I think you are right, 70 hp is a great deal of power.

  • hehe, "I'm not gonna bore you with ten minutes of me wrestling with the belt... ok, so I wrestled with the belt for 20 minutes..." Classic!

  • That's for the help! :)

  • Anytime!

  • Something you might want to add to this is make sure there is a belt routing available either on the fan shroud or printed somewhere under the hood, if not can draw a picture, cause unfortuanetly on some vehicles belts can be put on backwards and look fine but can cause some serious problems.

  • Great point!!

  • do it on a 01 grand cherokee 4.0.... lol shit is impossible

  • what's all that shit on the air intake hose?

  • It's mud from NC that stuck like snot to it. I'll probably have to steam it to get it all off. Looks like junk, doesn't it??

  • thanks man, I'll try it this weekend

  • Awesome video! You made it look easy. I'm gonna go change my belt now! If that's supposed to be replaced at 60K then I need to do mine twice since I have 120K miles on mine! Haha.

  • OK - that is funny. Yeah, trust me, it is a $20 and 20 minute job (and that includes opening the hood, getting tools out, then putting them all backup!)....

  • Wow, you took all the fear of this job away.....really a no-brainer. Thanks for the video!!!!!

  • Glad I could help! It is definitely a 15 minute job - even if you have never done it before. It's one of those things that after you do it for the first time, you look at it and thing, "Wow, was that it? I pay someone to do that?" : )

  • Thanks, thats a really helpful video. Ive never worked on a 4.7 before.

Looks like you have a coolant spray issue, huh?

  • Thanks - glad you found it informative! No coolant spray - I did some four wheeling in some red clay soupy type mud and it got all over EVERYTHING. Check out some of my other videos to see me slopping around in the mud and then cleaning the engine off (before and after).

  • i dont think it needed a new belt how many miles does it have

  • Yeah, overall it was in really good shape, but I had 60k miles on it and it was the recommended time. If it wasn't still under warranty I'd let it go longer, but knowing my luck, that would have been it! : )

  • Dude are you a mechanic or something lol!!!

  • I don't know about that, but I had to learn the hard way, and if I can save someone the time and energy and show them the right way to do it with as minimal tools as possible, It'll be worth it!
