When I was a little kid I used to call the different types of subway "Orange Door", "Yellow Door", and "Red door". I wonder what I would've called the new ones?
Quite good? thats an understatement. compared to TTC that system is 100x better. So fast, clean, efficient and most of all the people operating the metro actually look like people and not sth else. Whenever I go to Montreal for Vacation I just jump onto that system and travel everywhere. Its so easy.
How is this the worst subway system ever, I agree with duckjock, you don't have to wait for a long and wasteful 20 minutes waiting for a train that you'll be on for only about five minutes. I live in Toronto and take the TTC all the time and when I was in DC, their ticket system is so darn complicated, It wasn't because I was new there, it was seriously so hard. It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to do that, and I asked over 15 people for help.
The worst subway system I have ever seen. God for the past few weeks (following the fare hike.. surprise surprise) TTC was the most horrible in years. What a waste of Taxpayers money. the only thing they know is to jack up the fare and in return we are stuck by crappy service. Now Montreal Metro, that is one efficient subway system. so good.
What exactly about the service is "crappy"? Trains run every few minutes. How is that bad? DC's system looks amazing and the trains are 20 minutes apart off-peak. Off peak in Toronto gets you a 5 minute wait.
Why do people do nothing but bitch in this country? Makes me ashamed to be Canadian sometimes...
Compared to the Metro System in Montreal TTC is a joke and I am not the only one to complain about their recent activities. The worst subway system ever. And people do have a right to complain so suck it up and accept it.
the ttc is shit - all the stations, trains and buses are always dirty, the trains and buses are always late
i've been taking the ttc to university for 4 years everyday and i must say i HATE it
for what a metro system should really be, look at the moscow metro: gleamingly clean marble and granite work-of-art stations, trains arrive every 1-2 minutes in rush hour, all the stations are sweeped and scrubbed several times a day, all the trains are clean
Alright than, the TTC is probably the safest transit system in the world. The only dirt or anything near it on the trains are newspapers, which people read daily. Late trains? Seeing as there is no official schedule, they come ever 2-3 minutes in rush hour, and ever 4-5 minutes on off-peak hours. Rude personnel? I wouldn't call them rude, I wouldn't necessarily call them nice either. Ask them a question, and they will know the answer. For the last point, what don't they do anything about?
like i said, i took the ttc everyday for about 9 months every year for 4 years and my father before me took the ttc for over 9 years to work everyday and both him and i were often delayed because the trains came late and stopped for no reason en route. i have seen vomit in the ttc stations and the janitors aren't too careful in the way they clean. often they just smear the mud/dirt around.
Well, your point of view/experience may be different from mine, EVERY time I went on the TTC, I have ad a comfortable ride, your experience, may have been bad, so I am sorry if I insulted you, I myself have never been on the subway in Moscow, but based on youre description, it is probably VERY nice. Sorry
you are right, i have had a bad experience with the toronto subway system, it isn't fatally flawed, but it does have problems. i like the moscow metro not just out of patriotism (it does have its nags) but generally it was tons better than the ttc
the moscow metro stations are made out of marble and granite which push away dust and do not require cleaning (but they still are cleaned). the stations have stained glass and 10-12 feet vaulted ceilings. each station is swept and scrubbed several times a day every day. the trains are NEVER late, i can easily say that from experience and my parents/relatives have all used the moscoe metro for many years will tell you that it is never late.
in the 60s and 70s there was only 1 terrorist incident. and i haven't heard of any terrorist attacks on the moscow metro in the last 10 years. look up photos of the moscow metro and you will see how beautiful it really is
Warden station is pretty quiet at this time. It may not get as busy as St. George or Bloor but it does get it's fair share of riders living in that are of Toronto.
its safe to day that the ttc sucks balls , how come montreal gets away with a good subway and ours is a huge piece of slow shit , i can never get anywhere on time with the ttc
What the above person is saying is partially true especially abou the Montreal Metro. That subway system is much better than TTC even though TTC has 5x more the volume and 2x bigger.
Okay since that comment was deleted but the replies stayed, I missed something here...
The Montréal Métro is about the same size as the TTC Subway though, but the TTC's is just slightly bigger. The Métro has 68 stations, 4 lines, 65 km in length, and 800,000 daily ridership. The TTC has 69 stations, 4 lines, 68 km in length, and about 1,200,00 daily ridership.
I just love Montreal metro. I was browsing through the city and Metro was the most convenient. Once you know how to use it you are good to go. My only regret and disappointment was the unfriendly bus and subway ticket operator. They were very rude. Otherwise waht a wonderful subway system. But then again Montreal metro is funded heavily by the provincial govt. while TTC barely gets any money from the municipal.
I've also been through this station myself en route to Kennedy and McCowan. My favorite Fleet was/is the M1, yes, the real old Montrealers and the H6's which mostly sound exactly like WMATA's Breda 3000 (pre-Alstom rebuild) and all of it's Breda 4000 cars.
I love the H6s and H4s and H5s well all the hawkers but the H6s are my favorite due to the roar they make when accelerating and de-accelerating and they have a strong HVAC system.
im there everyday.
