The Plague champion uses a plague-bolter as his default weapon. It is awesome in every respect. Not only is it good DPS but it also has a DOT component as well.

Can someone tell me how a Plague Champion in the FIRST encounter of the match was causing a constant plague on my Marines from extreme long range? It wasn't the Bile spewer or the grenades (I tested them to be sure and they had much different animations.)

It was right at the beginning of the game before he even had a chance to upgrade anything, there were no plague clouds on the map, but each of my units unit had a small aura of decay around them. What the hell was he using?

@HazzJB Sounds like he gave himself the armor of pestilence....which gives the plague champion a Permanent aura of decay, dealing damage to your troops, and healing his own.

The Plague Sword is fun to use with the Plague Champion in my view. Raising zombies in the midst of melee combat sure is fun. Great with elite melee units.
