  • Wow! That's about all I can say! I have had an ex fix on my right leg since December 13, 2011. I will have mine removed in about two week... I CAN NOT WAIT! I will be having a bone graft at the same time. I am hoping recovery will be quick since I have not been able to walk since June. Anyway, fascinating video.

  • Hi! I broke the tibia and fibula in my right ankle. I was doing some downhill biking as usual. I had this kind of fixation on it for two weeks before the surgery because of the swelling. Got it removed and went through surgery 6 weeks ago. I have been walking on crutches and stretching my akkiless alot. I know it depends on many things, but I just wonder how long it usually take for a young healthy man to have a normal stretch in the accilles again? I'm gonna take out a screw that goes through

  • @vansbrand Once you are no longer immobilized, it will take somewhere between 1 and 3 months to get things stretched back out. Best wishes.

  • I am having my 4th frame remove in 2 weeks and this too is from a motocross injury 5 years ago, where I broke my right ankle into 12 bits and snapped the Tailus off my left foot, I have had this one fitted again because of the lack dorsiflexion movement too

  • @Sheepbottomley I hope you have healed well and without complications. Best wishes.

  • Ahhh This looks similar to mine. I just had it removed 3 weeks ago, and still cannot walk unfortunatley. It was for dorsiflexion after 4 previous failed surgeries from a motocross wreck with a high impact fracture.

i shattered my ankle and tib/fib. i had a few surgeries, 3 plates and 18 screws, and 5 years later still had complications. i lost my dorsiflexion, and the ilizarov fixed it, but looks like i have an ankle replacement or fusion coming at 22 years old :(

  • @PinkPoizuNx I am sorry to hear of the difficulies you are having. Those two procedures are end-stage procedures and both have supporters. Which ever you decide to have done, best wishes.

  • i got 6 rods on mine

  • @TheWwwaaazzzuuuppp Hopefully your procedure went well and without complications. Best wishes.

  • I had one a lot like this on my leg. except with more bigger half pins on my leg, rather then my foot. I had a compound Tib-fib fracture. that got infected

  • @bLuExbLaCk Good luck, external fixation is ideal for the type of situation you describe. Best wishes.

  • You can walk on an external fixator, although it is not easy. This is one of the advantages of external fixation, early weight bearing. Best wishes.

  • OMG I hope I don't need this it looks painful. Could he walk with that on? If you did an internal fixation is their a weight limit for how for wearing the screws?
