hahaha.. wtf??? i have a theory.. maybe one of the writers knew that it was a filipino song and wanted to put it as the japanese dudes theme.. just to get a bunch of reactions from proud filipino's... wow. trolls existed longer than i thought xD hahaa
At list they think Filiipino's are asian. MAN i spoke to a lot of people thinking they are pacific islanders! (thats like Samoans) just like people think indians arent asian! LOL
i think they used the song cos it sounded like a Japanese song, obviously the music director doesn't know about this song&just simply put it..i guess he/she didn't do a research! I'm from asia,& a friend of mine from U.S. told me that some Americans doesn't know the difference between Japanese, Chinese, Filipinos & etc..well that one I'm not sure, someone just told me!!!!
@MAGHUYOP86: It's OK, kabayan, really. I'm a Filipino from Manila, and I think it's hilarious that they used (of all things) "Bebot" for a Japanese character. I mean, ROTFL. Here comes this designer, dressed in Japanese couture, but his signature music is blurting out he's a "bebot". Wahahaha! Talk about added, unintended comedy. It's like the secret revenge of the Filipino World War II guerillas (against a fictional Japanese character).
i dont know who this asian actor is. reggie lee's face is very much distinct than the one here. and i highly doubt he would take such a small role when hes probably busy working in prison break or pirates3.
ok seriously i don't get how this is insulting or offensive! i'm Japanese AND Filipino and i don't care! Just because your Japanese doesn't mean you have to listen to Japanese music!! so what is the big deal people cuz i really don't get it!!
i think its balitang america or adobo nation.. i forgot his name, but he's also in the fast and the furious and pirates of the carribean at worlds end
or maybe the producer is trying to be funny hehehe.. a Japanese looking guy intimating to the audience that he is Japanese but playing a song with Filipino lyrics on the background (although its released here in US sung by BEP Filipino Apl of course) .. hekhekhek
@azngurl1213 they don't know how to tell the difference between Asians..
it's just like sometimes in movies they have a Columbian speaking Spanish and they say that it's a Brazilian
a lot of film directors aren't really cultured or don't care about representing other cultures, just want to fit the white man's stereotype of minorities
I'm Filipino, and I agree with you lol. Like I mean, it's good to have pride in your own country/race. But when you overdo it, it just comes off as arrogance. =|
dethsino, what do you have against Pinays that work in Japan? It just so happen that all of us are victims of a corrupted government! We're scattered all over the world to make a better living! Some of us ended up in worst of places. Don't be judgemental, each one that you happen to call a japayuki probably has a family depending on her back in the Philippines. You're a disgrace to our race if you claim to be one. But if you're not of our race, then I am most happy that your ignorant ass isn't.
There seems to be a Filipino writer/staff on this show, because there was a point when she was thought to be a Filipino. And besides they said Filipino before they cut if off. Another is that I don't think they really mean it to be categorize with the Japanese. This is more of a candid thing than to fully associate with the Japanese
OMG... "ugly betty" show. i really definetly agree why they use the BEBOT song, to the fact there are so many japanese techno for runway shows like YUKI or hed kand's remix japanese songs.... tsk...tsk... tsk....
i'm filipino and i think non-filipinos would mistaken this song to be japanese. first and foremost, this song is in tagalog, by filipino-american APL of black eyed peas. second, "BEBOT" is tagalog slang for american slang "Chicks." no connection with oshi (the japanese) whatsoever, weird that they used it.
im filo, and i was confused by the whole japanese listening to a filo song. anyway, it doesnt matter, i love the song and th show, kinda awesome that they were together. thanx

1) Maybe Oshi actually *likes* the song
2) I didn't know you had to be the same ethnicity as your favorite song
3) The song actually works well with the surrealness of the scene
4) It's a song by a popular group and the show managed to have the rights to use the song... so hey, let's be hip and use it in a strange way.
So yes, it's ridiculous to get randomly "offended" by some random song on a random TV show. And yes, I am Filipino...
