The village (locals term) of Okay, Arkansas began to wind down as a company town in the 1960s. The houses were sold and are all over the area, including the one I grew up in. The plant operated from 1929 until its last day of production on December 18, 1992. The current activity on-site is contractors upgrading the power lines that feed in and out of a substation near where this was at. It's part of the John Turk power plant construction taking place at nearby McNab, Arkansas.
I'm really interested in getting into metal detecting....I love treasure hunting! Is it ok that I don't have a southern accent and wear plaid shirts? I'm a little concerned that people are going to make fun of me...how do you guys deal with the personal embarrassment part of the hobby?
Personal embarrassment? Southern accent and plaid shirts? Boy, you're perception of the hobby is VERY distorted! Your're rude! If you're the type to be worried about what people think, metal detecting is NOT for you! I have NEVER been made fun of but rather surrounded by people waiting to see what we pull from our plugs! Be NICE when commenting on people video's... The people who share their hunting video's are GREAT and I feel we are all part of a metal detcting long distance family!! LOL
Oh come on, I was trying to be funny...no hard feelings ok? I just got a new Garrett Ace 250 but haven't had the opportunity to use it yet! What detector are you using??
OK! I just didn't want Yulelah or anyone elses feelings hurt. Congrats on your 250 MANY people use them! And the are a good seller! search youtube for ace 250! I use the garrett 2500. Good luck with your new ace
So happy you found a good coin there. I must have watched 4 videos from you with no finds. Then you find this you must have been real happy.
My advice as a fellow hunter is. Take your time at your sites. Don't jump around to sites so much. Spend days on one spot and your finds will increase. You have some good sites hunt them well.
Wow! Look at that sweetheart!! How far down was she? That find would have put a smile on my face for sure. It did, I'm smiling right now! Look at you go! Man, the places you find are true Gems. Well done Yulelah. Keep'em coming.

I too am a hick with a southern slur. I also am ashamed to be out in public, much less be seen with a metal detector.
