Ideal für den Siegmund, der schon ein kleines bisschen Bariton intus haben darf. Die deutsche Aussprache könnte noch etwas besser sein- Kommt sicher noch!
Wunder tenor!!!, he resembles me a little the James King kind of voice. He is young and has a great musicality to match that wonderful voice he has...Bravo!!!
If Deborah Voight can be cast as Bruennhilde in a Metropolitan Opera RING Cycle with a parallel hamperedm minimal level of understanding of the German poetry of the libretto which this young singer displays on this video, then he certainly has a future in professional opera. The climate of the times has changed since I once rehearsed and performed a RING opera with the late Birgit Nilsson.
Ohh, there is sensually sound in his voice, i like it very much. It was written in some comments that his german diction could be better- of course, but that isn´t really a problem (many famous Wagner singers have a worse one, also on CD).
No, this is a very promising tenor, i hope we´ll hear more from Mr.Jovanovich when he´s ready for some parts in this repertory. He sings in this video fabulous !! Thanks for posting :o))
Beautiful singer. Loved his Pinkerton. Would love to hear him in the house. I don't think the recording is doing him justice. Working a bit too hard, but it is Siegfried. Pretty baritonal for a lyric tenor. I enjoyed it.
@tenorjamestaylor This is Siegmund from Walkure. If you want to hear a lyric performance of this piece listen to Alberto Remedios sing it here on youtube in english. Incredibly beautiful and heroic.
It's easy to criticise, so here goes (haha.) 1) Winter und Sturm wichen DER not DEM starken Wehr. 2) Breathing here: "...die strenge (breath) Türe auch weichen..." couldn't be more wrong. etc etc. BUT, if I could sing as well as Mr Jovanovic does, I would be the happiest guy alive.
Funny reading all these self proclaimed critcs here while listening to a wonderful, unforced tenorial performance by this singer in a live performance from the MET as Don Jose on Sirius radio. The quality of his sound is, IMHO, burnished and uniquely beautiful with a ravishing diminuendo on the B in La Fleur. Maybe Wintersturme wasn't the best choice, but at least, at the time, he was an up and coming singer deserving of winning that award after years of singers already at the MET getting it!
No he is not a Heldentenor. He does have a very good voice though. BUT... breathing between "strenge" and "Tuere" at 2.05 is bad. The phrase "Wohl musste den (and not "dem" as he clearly sings) tapfern Streichen die strenge Tuere auch weichen, die trotzig und starr"... is awfully long but it MUST be sung in one breath. That, together with his impure vowel-sounds (e.g. "den" is a closed vowel not to be cofused with "denn") indicates that his knowledge of German is somewhat limited.
I saw Brandon in Houston singing Cavalleria and that was my first exposure. He is god. Would love to see him sing more Verdi roles...before heldentenor material
This is a GORGEOUS voice, but not a HeldenTenor....by any stretch IMHO. It's a nice piece for him to put into a concert, but I wouldn't want to hear a him sing a whole Seigmund. I'd LOVE to hear him do a Don Jose.
Good vocal weight, but I don't think any of us can judge if he is or isn't a heldentenor until we've heard him live. He is, at least, a dramatic tenor, and that will suit him to a number of operatic roles, if not Wagner's heavier ones.
une bonne surprise les Heldenténors sont si rares - Brandon Jovanovich chante avec beaucoup de subtilité - il lui manque peut être un peu de puissance.
Durch Zufall drauf gestoßen. Sehr schöne Stimme!

A very, very beautiful voice. Doesn't seem to be a very big voice, though. (but I may be mistaken)

Noch ein Tenorion. Das scheint wieder immer üblich zu werden. Lauritz Melchior ist eben das große Vorbild ;-). Ich mag es nicht sonderlich.

A gorgeous voice. His line is not as firm as it will be, so looking forward to more.

Good for you he's gonna make his MET debut with that role next season; makes me wish I lived in NY.
