  • If it werent for Jimi we wouldnt have some of the best artists out today, for instance John Frusciante's biggest influence was Jimi and this song helped him write for the song Under the Bridge. John is one of my favourite artists of all time and its all thanks to this man here, so much love for Jimi changing the world one guitarist at a time!

  • peace and loving kindness in all circles

  • best Jimi song ever. It's so short... just like his career. So sad!

  • I was graduating from high school when I first heard this. It punctured my heart and has kept company with Janis' Ball and Chain, Jim's Riders on the Storm, and Stevie Ray's... well, anything of Stevie's... all this time. A love song to someone extraordinary - it fits all of us somewhere......

  • Bonjour ! A l époque j étais trop jeune , mais j aurai aimé joué de la Guitare avec lui sur cette chanson que j adore , je suis sur que ca le ferait ? Bye

  • I like strats, but the tuning issues, and sustain of a banjo is a real buzzkill !

  • Have always LOVED this song. Why does it make me want to cry everytime I hear it?

  • WellllLLLLLLLL she's walkinggggggggg........ through the clouuuuuuuuuudssssssssss...

  • NOW,EARTH,HAPPY,SUN,HOW,NIGHT,LOVE,WEED,ART,SAD,STARS,DEEP,OCEAN,MILKY WAY,EVIL,GOOD,END, ,,,,AND MUSIC, AND ONE OF COUPLE GOOD ARTIST, JIMMY, RIDE ON MAN, FROM A mexican(MONTERREY,N.L) LIVING IN SAN ANTONIO TX, ENJOY EVERYDAY MAN!!!

  • yes indeed, he was riding with the wind - but - got carried-off.He - was one of the few really great musicians!

  • Fly on Jimi.

  • i like this song and ryans class rules

  • you are right Mr Peguin, he was one of the great lyricists.

  • It's so often that we praise Jimi's guitar work that we barely notice the pure genius lyricist he was. He's my second favorite lyricist after Bob Dylan and before of Jim Morrison

  • What a beautiful live version. You can hear he put all his soul into performing it.

  • wow 32 people really do not listen very well.............

  • john frusciante is the closest musician today we have (in my opinion) that resembles hendrix. god bless! wish he stayed with the peppers, but i guess josh is good for that job as well

  • @GQOfficial i like the peppers but i don't know why people think fruciante is great. i don't this his guitar playing is astounding. Hendrix along with srv and rory gallagher are one in a million talents. I don't feel that same amount of soul in fruciantes playing. not to bash him cuz i like his work but he's not in the same category in my opinion.

  • @Mattydilly i think he is, thats just my opinion. i think hes really creative, and specifically on scar tissue, he does alot of crazy shit i never even though of. i think hes really amazing, actually. im not gonna bash your opinion though, cause its your opinion

  • @GQOfficial thanx for being kind. I love his their songs i just dont think he's a top guitarist. I dont feel its connected with him

  • @Mattydilly nah its fine. we can all agree hendrix is great tho!

  • can all u fuckers shut the fuck up, he had amazing guitar skills, he revolutionized the guitar, and you stupid fuckers sit at home and criticize

  • fuck off with the fuckin ads !!!!!

  • Quit judging, There's no point either you like it or you don't. Shut up and listen to this man pour his heart out.

  • The number one

  • For me music isn't always about instrument skill or songwriting ability. It's about the way it makes me feel. That's why I like his music.

  • I want to hear the last song!

  • The best guitarist hands down!

  • wow he sounds exactly like he does on recording, thats a true talent not many have..

  • God is selfish, he takes the best.

    Jimi Hendrix

    Kurt Cobain

    Bob Marley

    Ronnie James Dio

    Frank Zappa

    Freddy Mercury

    John lennon

    Elvis Presley

    Jim Morrison...

  • @strahinjabubreg there's no god. hendrix is god.

  • @strahinjabubreg You forgot Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne) , Peter Steele (Type O Negative) , Stevie Ray Vaughn, Layne Staley (Alice In Chains) and more

  • watch my video for another cover

  • Hi , thanks Jimi little Wing est le mirroir de ta mémoire et J aime a+ my friend

  • jimi is god and frusciante 's jesus.

  • @ambroisevalet that's pretty accurate

  • Love it!

  • i love that people are talking about John Frusciante on this. It makes me glad that people listening to this actually know good music and some of the amazing artists with these talents

  • @macB1818 No problem haha. As much credit as he gets, I still feel in a way he's underrated. What he was doing at the time Mother's Milk and BSSM were first out was huge.

  • @macB1818 I love that the top comment on this video is about John Frusciante. Great guitarist and my biggest influence for playing guitar, a man who got his influence from Jimi.

  • @macB1818 yeah thanx for the comment man

  • left is messi

  • Adooro!!!

  • Great Song!!!

  • So groovy and funky and I will have my family play this song at my funeral! Seems appropriate

  • hermosísimo temmmón!!!

  • incredible

  • Linda canção!!! Lindo solo !!! Amoooo d+++++

  • Hendrix makes me want to light up a huge spliff and just sit in a recliner all day. The fuckin Man! Happy Birthday Brother

  • I´m spanish, i´ve been playing the guitar for 3 years and i´ve heard many times hendrix´s style of playing the guitar,

It´s the first time that I listen to this solo and I now I understand what is to play the guitar with you heart and not with your hands.

I´ll be waiting to the day you comeback

  • @junior12386282 amen to that ma brutha

  • mitch mitchel is an amazing drummer, this is one of my favorite solos of all time!

  • I didn't know that it was possible for him to top the original solo,... I was obviously mistaken!

  • Favorite song of all time. Jimi's guitar isn't completely in tune her, though. Still sounds awesome

  • no one ever talks about how under rated jimi's drummer is.

  • why does he alway play it in e flat ?

  • @moondog7786 If you listen closely, almost all of Jimi's music is played in e flat because he tuned the guitar down half a step (he said so he wouldn't strain his voice so much.) This is just one of many things that he did that were fairly perculiar. Such as for his strings, he would use a thin guage (11 I do believe) but for the B string he would use another E string as he said it drove the guitar more. This went along with him playing left handed on right handed guitar and reversing the nuts.

  • @moondog7786 sure you could say most is in e flat but hendrix was also known to play with his guitar out of tune or slightly flat or sharp. It didn't matter because he played the music he heard in his head.

  • guitarra desafinada... cordas G e B. Mas é o Jimi, né?

  • @wysnermax - yes friend...jimi rullez...there are several performances from hendrix where some strings are out fo tune, but even like that, he touch the rotgh note.....hey its JIMI HENDRIX ;-)

  • this mother-fucker chills in his own awesomness

  • You can play like Jimi, you can play better than Jimi, but you CANNOT write songs like Jimi. That's pretty much the point alot of people are missing. WRITING SONGS.

  • @commandhtf I guess some people may play better then Jimi, but they can't mimic the type of play style he plays or the song writing ability, but you are right!

  • @commandhtf So true.

  • @commandhtf You can play like Jimi, you can play better than Jimi, but even if you play his songs note for note with technical precision you will never SOUND like Jimi.

  • @commandhtf

Where do you people come up with this bullshit?

He's a performing artist, not a composer, that's why we cherish every note he every played, not just the primary recordings. He had a unique style which was far ahead of his time, he transformed every song in new an exciting ways every time he played - he always had something new and unique to communicate through his music. THAT is the point of ALL ART. THAT's what made him great. THAT's the point which people are missing.

  • @whatshendrix he wasn't really ahead of his time because there's been no one like him before or since, he was right on time

  • @jimmyshitbags

Him being ahead of his time means that what he played was so new that people can't build upon it to this day, he influenced genres which didn't even exist when he was alive.

Now - I had to say it because we were talking about why and how people can't appreciating his talent. What has your post got to do with anything? I don't know about you but I'm getting tired of these pointless, repetitive, cliched, empty metaphorical superlatives... No offense.

  • @commandhtf You cant play like Jimi and you cant play better than Jimi, if you didnt know, he has been elected as the best guitarist of all time.

  • @joachimekstrom this kind of list of "the best guitarist" makes absolutely no sense..

  • @commandhtf that is so far from the truth. It's the exact opposite, actually, and i can tell that you and the 17 people that thumbed up your comment don't understand this music and just pretend to cherish Jimi cuz other people say you should. His writing wasn't important, and his singing was shit, it was his PLAYING that was incredible. He put everything he had into his guitar, and THAT is the point alot of people are missing. Where the fuck did you get that bullshit?

  • @MenAmongPoodles You idiot, his song writing ability let him know what to play. His guitar playing ability allowed him to play it. You cannot have one without the other and still be an amazing guitarist. People definitely "pretend to cherish Jimi cuz other people say you should" more because of his guitar ability by the way. You can bet those pretenders have no idea that he was a hell of a songwriter too. You're a part of that.

  • @MrHurpadur since when do you have to be an incredible song writer in order to be an incredible guitarist? What about classical guitarists? John Williams, Julian Bream, and Andres Segovia barely composed anything, but the way they expressed the pieces they performed gave them their amazing reputations as awesome guitarists. Same with jazz musicians, they'll play standard charts on and on but with beautiful improvisation, keeping the tune fresh. It was Jimi's raw emotion that let him play.

  • @MenAmongPoodles his singing wasn't shit...it reflected perfectly his playing...

  • @TheVasko18 wow, his range was bad, his tone was bad, and he rarely sang a note for more than a second I don't see how you could ever think that his vocal ability reflected his guitar playing. Part of the reason some people loved him so much was because of his inability to sing, yet play such beautiful solos in contrast.

  • @MenAmongPoodles He was no Freddy from Queen but he did a really good job not going out of his limits.

  • @MenAmongPoodles

Rockerstar are suppose to have a unique voice. Go listen to Adele or beeney-bobbers.....moron!

  • @brightlights456X jimi had a raw voice, but was a very poor singer mechanically. a lot of people loved the fact that he couldn't sing but at the same time play such incredible solos in contrast. Adele, on the other hand, has an incredible range, capacity, and tone. Jimi had none of those things, but yes, he does have a unique voice. But really, he was a guitarist. not a singer. to me, anyway.

  • @MenAmongPoodles He wasn't a poor singer at all. He sang great.

  • @MenAmongPoodles

Okay, he did have the voice of Freddie Mercury or anything, but I guess his voice suited his music. I just find Adele boring, yes she is good compared to Katy Perry or Rihanna, but if she came out in the times of Whitney Houston or Barbra Streisand, she'd been considered average. Rant over :D

  • @brightlights456X one last comment. you told me to listen to adele, though. i'm not into her stuff at all, i was just comparing her vocal abilities to jimi's.

  • @MenAmongPoodles

    Ok :D

  • @MenAmongPoodles its not about the mechanics, or how good of a voice you have.. its about transferring emotions to the listener. Jimi had that spot-on.

  • @TheAlmostExactBass via his guitar. not his voice.

  • @commandhtf I'm on it, i'll thell you when I'm good enough... estimate... 7Billion years.. is that okay for you? :D

  • @commandhtf I disagree. People can't play like Jimi.

  • @TheIgothacked i can :/

  • @CoIeMusic No you can't :D

  • @TheIgothacked No one can play like Jimi.

  • @commandhtf I'll pretend I didn't read the first part...

  • Jimi is the greatest ever. I don't think I'm worthy to listen to his amazing music.

  • Its cool, every now and then, listening to all these shred guitarist out now adays to check in and see how far the guitar has come in the last 60 years. But, ill take a soulful guitarist with funk and blues in his blood any day over your Dragonforce. Id rather hear two notes played with soul, than a bunch of sweep picking and EVH hammer taps. (But i still love u too Eddie).

  • back when music was pure. . .

  • Beautifull song!!!! Much 2 short!!!!!!!

  • sounds better then the record

  • Comment removed

  • this version is absolutely amazing

  • Hendrix que mas se puede decir ? Jimi es el mejor , su musica perdurara por siempre .

  • amazing, historic!!!!Hendrix the best!!!!may he rest in peace!!!

  • Wipes a tear and knows that, even though Jimi wasn't an angel, he must be in heaven, rockin' the heavenly hosts, making me wanna be good so I can make it there to hear him. He lived and breathed music.

  • People only talk about the guitar playing... but hendrix is not only a guitar player.. For me he's one of the best musicians ever.

He made songs that my soul can feel.

  • One thing a lot of people forget is that Jimi and SRV practiced non stop when they were young and unknown. They did'nt have regular jobs. They played in bar bands for little money. Total dedication to the guitar. Not knowing if they would ever be rich and famous. Always practicing hours every day. Countless hours of their lives given to their art. Very special people indeed.

  • @fstrc02 John Frusciante falls into that category as well. He practiced 15 hours a day for about 9 or 10 years until he joined the Chili Peppers at the age of 18.

  • @NickODU2015 exactly

  • @NickODU2015 come on...noone practises that much...

  • @TheVasko18 You've obviously never met a dedicated musician

  • @NickODU2015 My father was quite a rock drummer,my sister is a graduated piano player,I have friends among musicians....so yeah,I think a have :)) But seriously,15 hours a day of practice seems blown way outta proportions...

  • @TheVasko18 never. if i could i would never stop playing, i hit around 9 hours a day playing.

  • @NickODU2015 john is awsome guitarist .. and he deticates he's life to play guitar not have only sex and drink ..

  • @NickODU2015 You all obviously haven't fell the power of Jimi. Fuck all of you guys. God Bless.

  • @NickODU2015

Not sure if Hendrix would be under that category, He used to leave the guitar for months because the notes he heard in his head weren't what he could play

  • @Elijahdrixon really? whered u read that thats interesting

  • @chunto231 In one of his biographies, I remember the cover having purple. I don't recall the name, and even that could be misleading. I do know i've read that or heard that somewhere credible.

  • @NickODU2015 I wish i could do that, but my family won't let me play all day,i have organized time to do my things ._____. (unless i escape home)

  • @NickODU2015 If you practice 5 hours a day for 5 years, you are good enough to be a professional guitarist. He did it for 6 times longer than that. That's crazy.

  • @Ignore14 You can't practice 30 hours a day though...I don't know where you got the 6 times longer haha

  • @NickODU2015 because he did it for 10 years, not 5.

  • @Ignore14 Your an idiot

  • @NellieLoosh OMFG, listen. He practiced around 60,000 hours in total before RHCP, that's 6 times more than 10,000, which is the amount of practice it takes to be at a professional level. If you practice for 15 hours a day and for 10 years instead of 5, that's 6 times more practice time than that. Do you understand now?

  • @Ignore14 Hendrix did not need to practice, simply he came from another dimension, normal human beings like us will need to live, die and reincarnate 5-6 times before we reach Hendrix same level of spiritual feeling he had...

  • @IZQ2012 of course! i was talking about John Frusciante.

  • @Ignore14 Well, JF is a great guitar player, you can tel by the way he plays lead guitar he borrowed chords from Jimi Hendrix, I have always believed is not that how much you practice, you have to born with that gift, I have meet guys whoa have played for 20-25 years straight up but their skills will never compare to Page, Frusciante or Hendrix, One thing is that you like music and other different thing is that you are a musician... Cheers From Mexico!

  • @IZQ2012 well said my friend. the spiritual feeling is all that really matters. cheers!

  • @NickODU2015 you think it is possible to practice 15 hours daily moreover when you are 9 years old? dude these are tales

  • @fstrc02 Uh thats just called hard work, not being special. Jimi had something untouchable, beyond just hard work...

  • Listening to this gives me contact hallucinations... the way the sound is squeezed out, each note perfect, coming through in waves of musical fabric that can blow the minds of most humans... Only Jimi... play on James...

  • hey everyone search Baldy and Burke and listen to their songs, especially Magnets, they're gonna be big someday!

  • i like how jimi emphasizes " LITTLE WING " in 0:14 lol xD

  • @the17thfuture hahaha... He made the effort to say "LI-T-T-LE" Wing with an English "tea" accent so the Europeans could understand him.

  • @kuhnmartin Except John Frusciante

  • Amazing. First time hearing the whole thing... This is my favorite Hendrix song. it has a couple of reeeealy subtle nuances. Mess ups here and there, the guitar a cunt hair out of tune, but it doesn't matter, it shows its real music and i love that kind of stuff.

  • JIMI ROCKS!!!!

  • that's one of the best versions I know...the triple solo is pretty much different and simply awesome...thx for sharing!

  • doesnt the dude on the right look like McLovin 0:04...... be honest

  • doesnt the dude on the right look like McLovin.... be honest

  • Mitch Mitchell was some drummer ..

  • Hey Gacelaxd, thank you. Wonderful picture of healthy, kick-ass Jimi! Good choice. All of you: Jimi AND the people you might compare him to would BOTH most likely, gently advise that you hang up the details and rock.

  • Class, 1st time ive heard the full version rather that the 2 minutes i have on CD

  • wooow the sound is awesome for a live concert !!

  • The audio is great. Thank you for posting.

  • hendrix, the dude from pink floyd and stevie RV, favorite guitarists... guy from led zeppelin is good but not enough feeling in his music like these guys and also not diverse enough like them, u can hear a lot of th same solo techniques in dif songs, still grea tho.

(this is besides the guys who started the blues movement)

  • @jwalk121 Yes, I also think people get hung up on technique. You must have it to play, but you must use it to communicate like Jimi, SRV, Gilmore(Pink floyd) etc. That's the trick. Jimi was an excellent songwriter as well.

  • @jwalk121 yes exactly

not to downplyy jimmy page, but he was more hung up on technique...he was still very good but he cared more about technique than communication and feeling

steve ray v used a LOT of technique but was still able to communicate thru that and that is why i put him on my top list...i dontl ike everything stevie rv does but i like al ot of it.....i love just about everything hendrix did

  • long live real music

  • That's the real music. When you listen it, you can ear the soul of the best guitarist of the world; if you are really listening it, you know that Jimi is not dead, he's here, playing this song, again and again, for ever.

He will live forever, like Freddie Mercury

  • @MartinMartix ...did you really....dont compare jimi to freddie, freddie is cool but no. just dont do it

  • Ugh you people are stupid. Hendrix saw the guitar in a way that nobody else did. And he was damn good at playing it. Good enough where its pointless to try to figure who's better and better to focus on his craft of making music.

  • Hendrix did something in the 60's and early 70's no one thought of,,,was he a great player in todays standards? I grew up in this era, but would rather listen to Stevie Ray play blues on a Strat,,,RIP,,, to both of them!

  • vai jimi.

  • out of tune guitar and many bum notes.....but that's sloppy Jimi ...although he does make my top 10 million guitar wangers..... somewhere near the bottom...

  • 30 Deaf people must have watched this video.

  • When I'm sad, she comes to me

With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free

It's alright she says it's alright

Take anything you want from me, anything

    Anything.

    Fly on little wing,

    Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing

  • Hendrix, was a great, player, composer, not a bad singer, and had an ear for how to make great songs. That's why we're still listening to him on YouTube today. He was a blues and rand b master as well. Could do it all. That's why IMO he's the greatest. His songs were great compositions,of music theory as well.

  • I think people are missing something about jimi,he was able to play from another place than where he stood as if he not even hearing it sometimes not allways perfect, yet giving so much of his being, and spirit, than he himself may have known, listen to the loose jams on band of gypsy.I dont think hes really thinking much..just streaching his toes out!
