  • starter sounds like a damn chrysler

  • Great sounding L88 guys, I love a big block, and the L88 is top of the food chain.

  • I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice BB Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

  • Sweet.....

  • Sounds like you got a problem with the throttle... she was sitting high after the rev's...

  • Your´re rigth - at that time I had an old defekt throttle bracket, but it´s now replaced, and the engine idles around1000 rpm (as steady as it can with the agressive cam).

  • Nice..

  • @BlazerVette is that body out of fibreglass and isnt it dangerous to breath that crap up?????

  • that's one agressive cam u got there, am i right?

That's how a muscle should sound like imo.

  • Yes, the cam is a Engle Solid roller cam RJ-83/86 (lift .680"), and it´s just as aggressive IRL as it sounds.

The sound is though too noisy to the Danish laws, so within a month the sidepipes will be replaced with a custommade dual true 3" S/S system with magnaflow mufflers and crossover. We tried to put more silent mufflers in the sidepipes (reverse flow), but it didn´t work - the engine needs more flow...

  • C6 Z06 is 427 that's STILL not as powerful as the original! Rated 505 HP and most dynos prove that number. Original was rated 430 (I think - could have been 425hp), but actually put out around 570 according to reports/tests at the time.

Of course, a 60's 'vette with an L88 is about as fast as a new Cobalt SS in any contest that involves a curve or braking.

    Nonetheless, those are GREAT motors.

BTW, you can buy new, crate BBC up to 720hp from chevy!

  • if you replace the axel and transmission that 570hp engine can go very VERY fast

  • I really hope someone creates newproduced versions of the 427 engine, like L72, L88 and ZL-1 e.t.c along with the 409, 454 e.t.c.

About newcreation of the ZL-1, then i mean not only in 427 examples as GMperformance does, Chrysler does produces it's Hemi, why can't GM produce their legendary engines they've made back in those days?, it's unfair!

just 427 examples of the ''new'' ZL-1 427 bigblock, 427 examples..they will be sold out long time untill i would afford!

    GM,massproduce the ZL1,now!

  • As sweet as it gets!!!!

  • tabarnaque

  • Can a car sound better than this? I doubt it.

    Gave me goose bumps

  • Everyone knows that mopar sounds the best.I can prove it..90 % of movie cars used mopar motor sounds regardless of what make car was filmed..power robbing flowmasters sound good on anything though..I like any Musclecar..They are all rolling works of art..nice vette

  • maybe your right, as i've not heard many mopars unless the incredible dull 318 wich sonds lik a sewing machine

  • I forgot to mention, whatever its origin, it's a beast and you couldn't have chosen a better car to put it in. Good job, man!

  • So what you're saying is that it was assembled with parts bought from Chevrolet, as opposed to a crate motor or a motor taken out of an L88 car?

  • Back in the 70´s and 80´s I think GM reproduced blocks with same specs as L88, but sold them as "Bowtie". I´m told the block is even more heavy and can stand a lot more than the original. It was shipped to Europe as short block, and all the other stuff is bought seperately. Therefore it has never seen an original L88 car. It´s a fun engine with a lot of attitude, and I agree the corvette is the only car it belongs in.

  • Was it really difficult to get those parts in Denmark? I'm impressed that you were able to build that car over there.

  • All the parts have been orderet in the US. The block has been imported back in the 80´s and has then been modified with all the accessories during the years. I´m second owner, and I have only added the ignition, flywheel, clutch and transmission. The first owner have spend a lot of effort (and money) to improve the engine, and only the best parts have been used. He ran low 11´s on 1/4-mile in his 69 conv., and had it tested to approx. 480 rwhp.

  • nice vette Big oil killed that muscle car but ethnol (E85) will bring the muscle car back with benefits too

  • I wouldnt say this is an original L-88 1969...

  • No, you are absolutely rigth. This is the specs: L88 Bowtie block, Bowtie aluminum heads (first design 14044861), L88 roating assembly, forged crank, Moroso roadracing oilpan, Jesel belt drive, Engle Solid roller cam RJ-83/86 (lift .680", Roller rockers and lifters, Victor Junior Single plane manifold, Demon 750 cfm DP carburator,

MSD ignition with 6AL box and Pro-Billet HEI Tach Drive Distributor. Centerforce aluminum flywheel, Centerforce 11" Dual Friction Clutch system, Richmond 5-speed RR.

  • that corvette is hungry and mad

  • Gear reduction starter... Ug

  • i would give my left nut for that car

  • it´s not that expensive... ;-)

But I agree - its a beautyfull sound. Howeever - the danish law demands that I install some more silent mufflers. Now it has cones in the collectors and reverse flow mufflers in the tubes.

  • you can't beat the sound of a big block,no matter what is on it

  • sweet

  • Amen

  • That was one FAST idle

  • 5 stjerner herfra ;)

  • My God thats better than a hit of Herion. My uncle had one 435Hp 427 vettes in 69. Brings back such a memory. Thank you.

  • hooolyyy jeeesssiiisssss!!

  • I'll give that 5 stars.

  • Very nice!
