I am addicted to this song. I love how many Icehouse songs are so multilayered. They work on several levels - as metaphor, allegory. they're not just literal. Unlike a lot of popular music today. And no autotune, thank god.
Essa música maravilhosa foi pouco tocada, mas é mais uma grande canção do excelente Icehouse, tempos que não voltam mais, mas as músicas ficam eternas.
I understand what you are saying, I was also surprised to see how he did not age well. Some of the recent videos of him that I have watched he actually looks pretty good, it just depends. I think if he did his hair different and colored it that it would help. He is still very awesome!
Dammit this should have always been the FIRST single released from Measure For Measure. Baby You're So Strange was a surefire hit, but Cross The Border deserved to be put out in front.
@Keruaran your dead right mate. I always thought that too. I was a bit dissapointed in the whole album. Primative man, and Flowers were a hard act to follow. I luv Iva, but his music seemed to loose edge, as he went on. I thank him deeply for his music.
Yes, I think Iva should just do whatever he finds most challenging and satisfying. I have the impression that he's grown out of pop music, and if he's getting bored and just trying to make himself do it, the music gets boring also.
I think his non-pop work in more recent years shows that perhaps he should work on more film scores and other interesting projects. For example, I really liked his work which he did with Christopher Gordan and Richard Tongetti on the movie Master & Commander.
@Keruaran yep, your right. Being a classical oboe player for the SSO, I guess pop music is a little shallow. But thats why I thought he would've gone down more of a Bowie route, and not put out pretty commercial stuff in the end. (I hope he's not listening in) lol
Thanks for posting. This band were so under-rated in their homeland. From "Icehouse" to now the music is top notch. And from a feminine perspective he is very yummy.
Believe me, I know. I grew up with them. Apparently there is an unreleased Icehouse album called 'Bipolar Poems' and a couple of the songs 'Your God Not Mine' and 'Big House' have been posted here on youtube. Check them out.
@vamborooolz people in the 80s looked cooler. Iva in this video is gorgeous. I love the hair, the clothes, the moves. The 80s were the best. The music was awesome (and drum sounds were perfect). The 90s destroyed everything...and the 2000s... it's a pain to even talk about the 2000s
This gave me great memories!I saw them at the Raffles Hotel in Perth West Australia 1984 and they were awesome. Ive been and still go to tons of concerts and that was my best ever concert experience.
this was one of the best songs Icehouse did live when they opened for Cars Door to Door tour in 1989.I always thought Icehouse did a video for this song :-)
The best ever band EVER

Don't know why but the beat to this song reminds me of the song "Shout" by Tears for Fears.

Not good been old.
