You can also find them doing this on the Jools Holland Hootenanny DVD. Well worth tracking it down. However, I was there for this one. Never have I been anywhere with such an atmosphere as there was in that tent. Phenomenal.
Went to see them few years ago with mates in Whitley Bay all dressed up cockney style as a piss take, all felt bit embarrased whe we realised how talented Chas was - bloody good singer too.
I remember reading a music journalist writing after Glastonbury 2005 and they said Chas and Dave's version of Ain't No Pleasin' You was better than Coldplay's entire set
Had this on my favourites for a long while but stopped watching it in June last year when my dear, dear mum died because this was her favourite. Finally watched it again and my heart is breaking...this is for you mum, will miss you forever - life is never going to be as good without you there to lean on....
I saw these a fortnight before they played Glastonbury, and they said they were really looking forward to it!! True Gents , Dave gave my son his Plecktrum and Mick the drummer gave him his sticks!!
London is the best town on earth...and Chas and Dave embody all of that wondeeful almost lost London/England spirit...and thats alot coming from a London/Irish man.
Awesome stuff....I'm a real East End of London lad of 47 who is a long, long way from home now and struggling to see how I will get back there soon. Christ, this make me miss the ol' smoke so much. As I'm typing this I'm crying my eyes out cos' I'm so homesick.
I saw them once, as part of the support for Status Quo's "last London gig" at Crystal Palace football ground ('84?). Hahaha Quo are still going of course.
I saw them this year, at 1.00am monday morning in Lost Vagueness... absolutely amazing show, I loved every second of it! One of the best gigs of the weekend
I'm one of the 'I was there' mob as well, im proud to say. Was standing about 20 yards south east of this guy, pint of pear cider in my hand chatting to a girl from cirencenster - aaaaahhhhh i hope i get a ticket this year!!!!
i agree, if you saw babyshitters at glasto you would appreciate how much better 2 old cockney lads with a piano were than Doherty and his smacked-up excuse for a performance. no surpirse though...
Brilliant. It captures the spirit of the CnD set as I remember it. Although I am a self-confessed music snob, I have to admit it, Chas 'n' Dave were the best act at Glasto' 2005. They deserve a main stage set at next year's Glasto.
Quality ! Look at the audiences reaction - they are storming it ! Forget their novelty songs. "Aint no pleasing you" is a superb bitter love song that is up there with the best of them !
The world is a better place because of Chaz and Dave
