  • If he believe that its something biological that cause homosexuality then he needs to read the bible. Nothing unclean shall inherit the kingdom of God. Christ loves everyone but if homosexuals do not leave their homosexual lifestyle they will not inherit the kingdom of God. Christians have no right to not allow homosexuals from coming to church, how else are they supposed to get saved and see the light?

  • You are correct uriykir. The same thing would be applied for adultery, fornication, etc. God's forgives all sins and accepts everybody. However, we cannot go on sinning and expect God to bend His word. Tony has a point about homosexuals still feeling that way while trying to obey God's word. The same can be applied for all of us who struggle with our own sinful nature but strive to please our God.

  • 1 Corinthians 5

  • To the people quoting Romans 1: What about Romans 2? Never, ever, read Romans 1:18-32 without reading Romans 2:1. If you do, you - are - missing - the - point.

  • I have a video on Jesus said nothing about homosexuality Really.

  • In Campolo's defense, do you hear that he keeps clarifying he does not agree with the homosexual lifestyle?

We've all heard Romans 1 read with only condemnation and arrogant piousness... Time to hear there is love for those who struggle with being human in a fallen world. He also makes a very good point comparing divorce and homosexuality. Sin is sin, one is not greater than an other... BUT THAT IS NOT WHERE IT ENDS!

There is the GRACE of Jesus who in His GREAT LOVE for us, FORGIVES ANY sin.

  • @spcmdia21

    Here's another verse to consider:

"He who is without sin throw the first stone" -John 8:7

  • Cool turtleneck.

  • (@endtymsnatzal )

  • You call yourself a christian? better think about what you're saying.. your words and actions are not consistent.

  • Amen Bro. your right, Tony has some actions and words that are inconsistent with the BIBLE. looks like you have been reading yours. Good and faithful servant. REPROVE those who water down the true Gospel, which is not the popular route.

  • I was only talking towards you, not Tony. On the topic, who doesn't have words and actions that are inconsistent with the bible? .. that is unless you are Jesus..

Will you be reproving everyone Endtymsnatzal? If so, let me know so I can be on extra good behavior.

  • What an excellent point my friend we are too imperfect so therefore filled with pride, judgment, condemnation, self righteousness, fears and phobias. That's why King David said He'd rather fall into the hands of a angry God than a righteous man. Peace and God bless you my friend.

  • oh and he ALWAYS throws out some juicy Bible Verses for a sympathectic crowd. Look Is Gay wish to get the gospel, Then that means they must follow it. Many don't feel welcome in alot of churches because THEY Know they have no desire to stop theyre lifestyle. If this be the case, the churhc has the RIGHT to protect itself, As Jesus, Said, Many will come into the church who seek to destoy Her. Which is Now going on. Endtimes are here.

  • You're right. Gays should follow the gospel. Otherwise they're not welcome. Oh wait, you're not welcome either. When the last time you lied or cheated or stole or gossipped? when's the last time you refused to put God first in your life? When's the last time you SINNED? Because I know for myself I do it everyday. It is not our DUTY to make a scale for sin. it is not our responsibility to judge. Our responsibilty is to hate the sin while LOVING the sinner.

  • If that means refusing homosexuals entry to the church because they fail in stopping their lifestyle then i don't know what religion you are practicing but it is not christianity. It is the job of the Holy Spirit to convict and change a person, not our job.

  • If someone wants to hear the gospel, who are we to stop them? Jesus preached to sinners day by day. He did not come to save the healthy, he came to save the sick.

    Matthew 9:12-13 (The Message)

Jesus, overhearing, shot back, "Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? Go figure out what this Scripture means: 'I'm after mercy, not religion.' I'm here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders."

  • ya, see o'le TONY is the type of guy who wants to be "Liked by eveybody" so he agrees with those people he ends up in situations with, via sympathy, Everbody LOOOOVES an UNDERSTANDING GUY who UNDERSTANDs what YOUR goin through, NOT... Tony WANTS FAME cuzzz there's' BUCKS in BEING a SOCIAL Strain Of So called Christian, Look at his shifty eyes, if you can. His body actions speak, " I need attention & to be LOVED by MILLIONS.. for CASH!!!!!!!

  • Only if you beleive Jesus and what HE says, will you know it is a sin that is so steeped in ruin, Jesus mentions that He give them up to their own divices, All you Gays know your wrong, You just like it too much to give it up, & when you do , the curse is, you always fight it each day. Lust is one of the worst temptations, but sme sex issues are the deepest rooted in SIN of all, next to pedofilia

  • I got news for ya..... practicing Gays, Christian or not. are on a one way ticket to HELL, so are Murders, scoffers, and a whole list, written in the BIBLE. I didnt say it, The world says it. WHY would it be mentioned you ask? because Jesus wants us to recondnise if we are TRULY repentant and by HIS Grace are we SAVED ----- IN THAT ORDER.---love thy neighbour as thy self, that doesn't mean you go along with them.& accept them.

  • correction on a world below: " The WORD(BIBLE) says it."

  • Yeah, Jesus had so much to say on homosexuality. Oh wait, never mind! Homophobe.

  • How can i be a HOMO PHOBE, when I'm against it with a VENGENCE. My X- husband turned GAY, I know what I'm talking about, and He was raised in a Christian home. He's a nice guy, & all, but Nice ness is not a ticket to heaven, Repenting from SIN, daily, chicking if your life is pure as possible , acording to the BIBLE is a ful time job, We Christian's are harder on ourselves, but are living with the GRACE of Jesus, who Helps us to stay on the straight and narrow path, to Heaven.

  • First, I am sorry that your husband was gay and sorry to call you a homophobe. That said, how can homosexuality be sinful when science tells us it is natural? God must not know what he/she's doing if he/she creates people gay knowing it is sinful. And most importantly, as you are a Chrisitan, Jesus says nothing about homosexuality.

  • MassLiberal1, can you provide me your source of scientific evidence that proves homosexuality is naturally occurring in human beings. To the best of my knowledge, homosexuality has not be been scientifically proven to be biologically natural by any research studies yet. Honestly, evidence of this nature would be all over every newspaper, magazine, news channel, & the internet. I'm curious as to your source. I take it you wouldn't make such a bold claim without verifiable proof, right?

  • I am not a scientist however every mainstream biologist will tell you that homsexuality is completely natural. It occurs often in the animal kingdom. Obviously it must be natural because animals act completely according to their nature; it's not like they think long and hard about their actions. And if it isn't natural then I could redirect your question about why the news isn't covering that angle. Also conservative religious groups like the Catholics say that homosexuality is natural.

  • @MassLiberal1 I'm not saying for or against homosexuality, but who cares about the animal kingdom? Animals kill each other all the time. Animals rape each other all the time. I guess I'll go mate with your sister then because it's done all the time in the animal kingdom.

  • To continue, even if every news outlet, scientist, and religous group said that homosexuality is natural, one who doesn't already believe it is natural won't be convinced. Like w/ evolution and climate change. These denialists have all of the evidence in front of them but continue to close their eyes to the truth. I don't know how you feel about homosexuality but if I'm correct in interpreting the tone of your question then I assume you disaprrove of it. I hope you come around. Happy Holidays.

  • Hi. got your message. Quote What Jesus says about HOMOsexuals, you Are ya ready. Oh & . I accept the appology. So now lets get to it. Jesus RED LETTER WORDS: St. Mark 10...5.. And Jesus answered & said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he worte you this precept. 6. But from the beginning fo the creation God made them male & female. 7.For this cause shall a Man leave his father & mother,& cleave to his wife: And they twain shall be ONE Flesh.... ect continued.........

  • Jesus was talking about divorce there. The Pharisees asked if it was lawful and pointed out that Moses allowed it. Then Jesus went on that discourse and ended it by saying that in Mark 10:11- "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery agaisnt her" (I'm looking at the King James Version). Since you are against same-sex marriage then why do you not believe divorce should be illegal?

  • You can't be against gay marraige unless you think divorce should be illegal.

  • OOPs i meant no one is NOT PURE in gods eyes..Everyone is pure...This is amazing...I love it..GOD BLESS!!

  • This is so inspiring..I am reading his book and It touched me...Thank you for this!!! Everyone is pure in gods eyes and NO ONE is pure.

  • I think this is Right on! I am a gay christian, and I agree with Mr. Campolo COMPLETELY! I pray that one day God will call me to preach as passionately as him and make half the impact as Mr. Campolo.

  • Were you listening to him at all? His message was of condemnation to those in the church who are not showing love to homosexuals. In no way was it an approval of the homosexual lifestyle. Being a "gay Christian" makes no sense, as Jesus clearly condemns homosexuality and says if you love Him you will obey His commandments. So to live a livestyle in contrast to His commands and then claim to be a follower of Him is self refuting and makes you look dumb.

  • Listening to this I am brought back to something that I've noticed. I have seen many churches that are more interested in building a big new sanctuary so people can see it rather than loving people and taking care of the poor as Jesus said we should. Are our priorities wrong or are we just that far away from the scriptures that we don't see just how wrong we are?

  • I've never quite understood the term 'homophobe'.

Is that the fear of homosexuals?

  • Technically it's a fear of the same. Its application makes no sense.

  • Wow this is wild. I never heard of this guy before... but I was thinking on this same subject with the same thought. I've been on youtube the last few hours and falls right over this just cause I thought the title was funny. That's so wild to me! Praise him

  • i completely agree with him lol, i'm personally a homophobe, i find it hard to see gay couples - but i try my very best not to let that affect my judgement. I don't condone homosexuality - however - i can't stand to see a church that's forgotten how to love - what is Jesus' message - EVERYONE NEEDS COMPASSION! the jews, the muslims, the gays, the broken, the hurting, the oppressed and the oppressors - jesus loves them all, and guess what - so should we...

  • jesus = love :peace

  • What crap. He's still just as homophobic as the rest of the Religious Right-he's just a little more "compassionate". You can keep your fucking compassion, Mr. Compolo (SP?). We in the gay community really don't need it that much.

  • What makes him a homophobe? And how did you get into his heart? Peace!

  • Comment removed

  • Incredible... I wrote a paper on this very topic- and I got the highest grade in the class.

  • The reason for homosexuality: sinful nature. I know they don't want to be tempted in that way, I really do. I myself have a sinful nature that tempts me to sin lustfully in other ways.

Jesus is the solution to homosexuality just as he is the solution to gay lust. Through faith we repent and are justified and the sanctification process begins. Perhaps one day I will stop being tempted and a repentant homosexual will stop being tempted too, but nonetheless we must all repent.

  • This man is trying to protray all Christian churchs other then his as they refuse gays in thier church...what a lie! I have never ever been taught to hate gay ppl, just like i'm taught not to hate any sinner for we are all sinners...but in no way are we to say thier sin is approved by God and should be allowed..that would be to disobey God..for !Cor 6:9-10 is so clear that you'd be changing if you said it meant something else..and you know what the bible says about liar's don't you?

  • No i think very few have been directly taught to hate homosexuals. so on that point i agree with you. however, would you openly hug a homosexual welcoming to your church, while others simply let him be. the homosexual would feel as if "no one wants me here. Church people are supposed to be loving he would think, they're just ignoring me. They don't want me. They don't care about me."

  • what you think and what you've researched to be true are two different things. If Christians are taught that we are all sinners in need of a savior, then why would we not embrase the homosexual? What is happening is that people are trying to change what God says as if God changed His mind on what is sin and what isn't..and that is where the problem is..homosexuality is still considered a sin..that hasn't changed and Christians are to stand up for truth.

  • The point I'm making I guess is similar to Campolo's. Would you love a homosexual? WOuld you give them a hug or would you simply ignore them, instead of showing them the love of Christ? Would you openly show love to those Jesus will never stop loving? That is my point.

  • of course i would and i have, my cousin lived a semi homosexual lifestyle.. i loved him very much. I love the sinner for God loved me while i was yet a sinner and We have all sinned, but to say homosexuality isn't a sin, is where i disagree. by the way, my cousin died of aids, but repented of his sin and served God before he died. He admitted that his sin is what gave him aids. He died @ 48, the average lifetime of a gay man. I will see him again in heaven because Christ washed aways his sins.

  • Hi Shanana000,

I understand what you're saying but there are still plenty of churches that need to hear Campolo's message. I recently moved and went to a new church where the pastor prayed against a local gay march. He prayed that "people would be sickened and revulsed" when they saw the march and the people on it. The prayer itself made me feel sick and I doubt any gay or lesbian person would feel welcome at a Christian meeting that prayed in such a way.

  • All i know is this, no child should be a parade when men have their penis's hanging out and them kissing..that's isn't a parade that's pure perversion. and don't give me any of that phoneiness that pastors don't care about gays..that isn't true! but what and shouldn't happen, is that their sin be accepted as if God approves of it. that's a lie from hell.

  • My goodness... what a comment. I have never seen or been at a gay pride march where men had their penis's hanging out. I wonder if you'd be just as happy with a pastor offering a prayer that people be sickened and revulsed at the people on the Mardi Gras parade? Would you be happy with your pastor asking God that people would be sickened and repulsed by those in divorce courts and by recent divorcees? Would fundamentalists ever picket a divorce court in the way so many do a gay pride march?

  • Powerful words. We as Christians have been called to love, not condemn. Indeed we are all hypocrites, once we realize that, the Lord WILL move in our lives. There is no such thing as a perfect Christian, what sets us apart is that we understand that and then humble ourselves and ask for forgiveness. Then and only then will we become closer to God, not because we are better than others but rather we understand that we are as sinful as all others.

  • stcrzyaatyrs: believe it or not, you have an important role to play in the evolution of Christianity: that of outsider, holding our feet to the fire to actually live up to the standard Jesus demanded: love the enemy, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, be the peacemaker, etc. etc. CS Lewis says you have every right to deny what we believe so long as we refuse to LIVE UP TO those beliefs.

  • The Red Letter Teachings of Jesus in the context of the rest of the Bible is fundamentally Christian. The US Constitution in the context of the Federalist Papers is fundamentally American. This is minimalist church and state. This is what we need to get moving in the right direction. We are hopelessly adrift, and had better wake up quickly, or we will end up in the middle of the rocks of a corrupt big church-big state New World Order.

  • I am a realistic historian that believes Jesus was a buddhist monk spreading buddhist doctrine. You do realize he was teaching things that are not anywhere in the old testement, that was a vengeful God that spread fear, damnation, wrath, he would kick your ass with fire, storms, floods, plagues, and not think twice about casting you out of heaven for simply eating an apple, he prefered you to sacrifice the blood of animal over the healthy vegetables of the earth, Cain and Able.

  • The Teachings of Jesus are quite different from everything else in the Bible! I have decided to follow Jesus. Though none go with me...still I will follow.

  • Jesus is great to follow up to a point, he like any dictator wants you to worship him, setting up the same platform for domination, rulers. So you can be lead around as sheep, ask yourself, do you want to be sheep? so you want to be a follower, do you want to be lost?

You have a rational, comprehensive mind, you just should want to clear out all the dogma, brainwashing crap that has come from yrs. of history, and your own ego.

  • Those that believe in nothing, believe in everything. That is much more dangerous than believing in Jesus.

  • Well walkin your talk is one thing and cheating, killing, lies, rape, hanging, stealing, torture is quite another. This country was founded on stealing, killing, and quarantining the Native Americans that lived her 30k yrs before we got here. Then we buy other human beings for farm animals, kill rape, destroy thier heritage, hang them if the get pissed at us. Start wars with 3rd world peasant countries and wonder why in the hell people dont want to play with us:(

  • I think if you look at the US in the larger context of the world you could see that this country was the first country to value black people and one of the first nations to outlaw slavery. There is still slaver today in the world.

Additionally, while the colonization of America was nasty, the creation of this nation has greatly benefitted the world. If it weren't for that history, we may not be posting on youtube today. I think a glass half empty view of america is shortshighted.

  • we were the last nation to stop slavery, the rest of the world was watching! fact! your delusional pure delusional,

  • Slavery is widespread in india today.

It is also very common in Sudan, Ghana, Mauritania, Benin, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraquay, and in the UAE (I just returned from UAE in February).

  • In addition, the civil rights movement in the US was necessary because of lingering institutional racism. Something that looked shocking to many other countries

(But that doesn't mean that America doesn't have lots of good too!)

  • Sorry jimroletter, but you are way out on this one (I haven't been following the rest of the discussion but your post caught my eye)

The US abolished slavery in 1865 (13th amendment) - whereas Wilberforces abolition of the slave trade act made slavery illegal in the british empire in 1807, quite a chunk of Europe had already abolished slavery and the rest fairly quickly followed suit. Russia had abolished slavery in 1723.

  • There was in fact slavery in Russia until 1989. When the fruits of your days work or taken, controlled, and managed by the government, that is slavery.

  • jim that is happening right now in America:) dont ya just love it:) your tax dollars, at work going to war for no reason other than to stuff the pockets of the military industrial complex-oil etc. Your own communism (social security) is going to be taken away from you soon and you will bre helpless adrift in this dog eat dog economy we call Capitolism.

We contribute all our lives to SS and the Gov. eats away at it yr. after yr. consuming your community savings set aside for you!

  • If it was up to me social security would be eliminated. If people need help it should be done through voluntary exchange and through churhes.

  • I'm an evengelical Christian and I totally agree with Tony. He makes a good point that we openly accept divorced and remarried couples into our churches when the Bible says they are commiting adutery, so why not openly welcome homosexuals? By the way, jesus didn't even adress the issue, but I'm not sure how to interpret that. Keep up the good work Tony and cant wait to read "Red Letter Christians"!

  • Well there are many hundreds of pcs. of advice in the bible that we should not try to embrace in present time. Like Moses telling his people to "kill the women and boys, take the virgins for yourselves, split the livestock and dedicate a portion to God"? Do you really think we should be even allowing that to be read? Wow that pretty heavy stuff?

  • right. there are loads of old testament laws that we don't need to pay attention to today, because Jesus fulfilled the law. the new "law" (if you will) is to love the lord your god with everything, and love your neighbour as yourself. Jesus summed it up.

  • You need to stop quoting the Old Testament as an argument against Christianity. It may work as argument against Judiasm but doesn't against christianity.

  • Your bible contradicts itself, it disproves itself over and over! Its full of hatred revenge, taking virgins for sex slaves, condoned by god this is an outrage! If you believe in this your as sick as the sickest child rapest in prison, you know they do not live long in there, even the prisoners hate them. This is not the kind forgiveing loving merciful god. you have been brainwashed by generations of illiterate fools.

  • Archaeological evidence points to many of the the nations being wiped out in Joshua as being utterly contaminated and beyond depraved. So Leviticus says kill both human and animal under beastiality, then Josh mentions nations where God orders the ANIMALS to be killed, too...hmmm.....and kill men, women, and boys (wink wink), but not girls known to be virgins...hmmm.....consider the possibility that NO civilization would have kept these nations alive, even as neighbors.

  • There are many good individuals and even good leaders who use portions of these teachings (heavily edited to remove the hateful parts) to help people and liberate the downtrodden. But the religions themselves are, at their core, hateful and violent. The idea that anyone who

does not worship the correct god deserves to die and/or be tortured is the core belief, and this idea is pure hate.

Jealous Gods who run concentration camps (hell) will have followers who run concentration camps.

  • Jealous Gods who slaughter people will have followers who

slaughter people. There is no mystery as to why century after century of Christian and Muslim dominance over much of the world has never led to peace, why the traditional religions are going extinct, why violence and war are as endemic as ever. Crusaders and Jihadists and Conquistadores and idol-smashers

are the direct, natural result of these religions.

  • So your tellin me God hated these people and ordered them killed except of course the virgins? What do you think we should do with all the farm boys accross the Bible belt that are screwing sheep, cows, etc? right now in your country barn? Take em out and kill em!!!!

Are you so blind, stupid to think war is an answer to life problems? War is when all reason-logic-compassion stops and bullets, bombs, and death take the place of something called HUMANITY!!

  • Why does he seem to growl at times? He sounds pretty creepy if you ask me at times during this talk.

  • jim 21.., he growls at times because his whole mind, heart and soul revolts at the hypocrisy and disdain that people have for the sins of others while ignoring their own.

  • I say this affectionately, but Tony has a way of getting on ones nerves, in the right kind of way! You kind of get annoyed, and at the same time have to admit that he is 100% correct, and that you have to change! Go Tony!

  • could we only be as good as Tony.

    yasses36

  • for once i agree with everything tony campolo says.

  • This is wonderful to hear!

  • Excellent vid

  • I'd recommend a few quotes from Richard Dawkins for you all to come to your senses.

  • Richard Dawkins being intelligent does not make him right. He's an arrogant jerk, who though makes valid points, they are missed because of his acerbic tone. As Neil deGrasse Tyson put it, you feel him, but you don't hear him.

  • Neil deGrasse Tyson said that of him? That's gotta hurt when you consider that it's coming from one of the most respected individuals in the academic community.

  • Unlike the prickish Dawkins, Tyson was very gracious and thoughtful in making this critique.

  • Dawkins is a joke. His book has been thoroughly panned by theist and nontheist philosophers in US and UK.

  • What I'd like to know is if Dawkins even has any academic background other than in physics and other sciences. I mean like religion, anthropology, socialogy, philosophy, or medicine (to help back up his theory that the belief in a higher power is, in fact, a "mental disorder). Because if he doesn't, then I have no idea why this guy would have any followers if he has no real experience outside of his own scientific field.

  • To equate homosexuality with being divorced is ridiculous. Homosexuality is clearly a sin no matter what the circumstance whereas being divorced isn't. Homosexuality is a lifestyle whereas being divorced isn't. For most people being divorced is something that may happen once and never again. This shows me just how off the track Mr. Compolo is from a spiritual standpoint, to make such a comparison.

  • Make that Campolo.

  • he's not equating. He's contrasting, contrasting how divorce and remarriage gets more acceptance in the church than homosexuals get, IF they are honest about their orientation, and honest about their falling to temptation.

  • Whatever you want to call it, it's ridiculous, as one is clearly a lifestyle of sin and the other isn't. In my opinion, if I'm hearing Mr Campolo correct, he is equating homosexuality with divorce.

  • Well, then you don't know what 'contrasting' means. Contrasting means he's POINTING OUT the DIFFERENT way the Church responds to divorce, vs. homosexuality. Jesus calls remarried divorcee's adulturers...something we in modern times conveniently overlook. LISTEN CAREFULLY at 3:55 - 4:10 to hear Tony's take on homosexual acts...versus the COMPASSION we his Church are to express!!!

  • I know what to contrast means. He says "why is it that we can be so gracious to one group of people(Christians who have been divorced and remarried) and be so mean to this other group of people(homosexuals)"

He is comparing and contrasting, not just contrasting as you say. He is comparing because in his misguided mind, they are equal. He in turn then contrasts the response of the church to each.

  • yeah yeah...he IS grouping together two types of people who, per the Bible, have committed terrible sin (marrying a divorced woman = adultery per Jesus); he's also pointing out the hypocracy of accepting one and not the other. But again, he is NOT CONDONING BEHAVIOR...he is holding the Church accountable for not showing simultaneous, consistent MERCY.

  • Divorce and remarriage ARE allowed by God in some cases. Homosexuality is NEVER allowed and is an abomination to God whereas divorce and remarriage aren't even sins, in some cases. To equate the two as Mr Campolo has done is to not truly comprehend the level of disgust that God has for the sin of homosexuality. He hates all sin but any sin which is against the body is of a particularly serious nature in the eyes of God. 1st Corinthians 6:18

  • It's a comparison of apples to oranges. Each case is different when it comes to divorce. One person may be sinning by getting remarried whereas another may not so it is unfair to lump all divorcees together as being in sin because some aren't. Homosexuals who are practicing homosexuality are all in sin.

  • I propose that we love all people and accept all people, regardless of what their sin is, we all have sin in our lives so it would be hypocritical to shun some while accepting others. The difference is when someone (gay or straight) refuses to repent and wantonly lives a life of sin and does not hide it, that type of person will not be as welcome as someone who (by appearance) is living a celibate life in obedience to God.

  • All fornication is sin regardless of whether the person is gay or straight. There are several men in my church whom I know struggle with the sin of homosexuality but are living a life of celibacy (to my knowledge)so their "struggle" is not an issue for most people in my church. While there are also straight men in my church who "struggle" with remaining celibate but (to my knowedge) are not engaged in sin so it's not an issue as well.

  • It's when people refuse to acknowledge that their lifestyle is sinful and expect others to do the same, that problems develop. Christians are to never condone sin in their lives or in the lives of others. Gal 6:1

  • Good show!

  • That's where you and Mr Campolo are wrong. It is not always a sin for a Christian to get a divorce and remarry. There are Biblical grounds for divorce in some cases. There is never a time when homosexuality is not a sin, which is why it is ridiculous to equate the two, as Mr Campolo has.

  • >>There are Biblical grounds for divorce in some cases<<

Yes, but no biblical grounds for remarriage while the ex-spouse is still alive. Please produce verses that say otherwise. I'm not saying it's unforgivable or any worse than anything I've done. I'm just saying you can't prove remarriage is permissible in scripture.

  • That is not exactly true. In cases where a man who is a believer has been divorced by his wife(meaning the wife wanted it but the husband didn't) scripture is silent. The closest reference is 1st Cor 7:15. At any rate, there are instances where a divorced person is completely innocent and is free to remarry, however those who practice homesexuality are never innocent as it relates to that sin.

  • >>he is equating homosexuality with divorce.<<

No. He's saying our demand for absolute literal obedience on homosexuality is hypocrisy when compared with the fudging we allow on remarriage after divorce (which is prohibited by both Jesus and Paul). Both said that a remarried divorced person IS living in a lifestyle of sin if the ex-spouse is still alive. It's not a one-time event. If we're going to demand absolute literalism for one, we have to demand absolute literalism on the other.

  • No, it's not hypocrisy at all because one is absolute disobedience where the other is not and is allowed under certain conditions. To lump the two together, is absolutely wrong.

  • Please define "absolute disobedience" as opposed to kinda disobedient.

  • It's disobedience regardless of circumstances. I never said "absolute disobedience" and "kinda disobedience"

I said "absolute disobedience" and "not(disobedience) and is allowed under certain conditions".

  • When it comes to sin, there is no "kinda sin" Either a thought, action or behavior is sin or it is not.

  • The point is Jesus was and is excepting of all and that no sin is worse the another. All have fallen short. If a Gay person is excluded from a church then what right do any of us have to be in one either as we are all sinners?

Jesus was clear on His acceptance of sinners and Homosexuals are not an exception!

    I applaude Tony for this!

  • I agree Jesus is clear on His acceptance of all, no matter what the sin is, it is ALL forgivable. The problems come when we begin to focus on the individual sins that we commit as being the ones that condemn us, when the truth of the matter is that the individual sins are not what condemn us. These sins and our response to them are symptoms that we are already condemned by our sin nature, which we are ALL born with.

  • To receive forgiveness of our sins and be saved, we must be sincere in our heart, when we pray to receive Christ and then once God forgives us, we must repent of our former lives. Also, when we are saved, God no longer sees us as sinners, He sees us as saints because whenever He looks upon us, all that He can see is His Son. We are now ambassadors of Christ and represent Him in ALL we do, good or evil. This is why repentance is mandatory for salvation.

  • Yes, God accepts homosexuals as they are but He does not intend for them to stay as they are as He doesn't intend for any of us to stay as we are. When we come to Him in faith seeking forgiveness, repentance must follow

  • "...Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and there are some other guys who do believe in God and they can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly I don't care." Yeah, Don Miller said that. It's helped me a lot as far as when I talk to people who don't believe the same things I do. I hope I've helped others by passing it on.

  • Good show!!

  • reading the arguments here just breaks my heart. in matters of faith and religion, i don't think a person can be ARGUED into changing their opinions. if you think another is looking at things wrong then the better way to deal with it (if you are a believer, i guess) would be to pray about it, discuss it calmly, and show them love. that's how you help.

  • You should be ashamed of yourself. Jesus said "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose."

Satan has deceived the Whole World, beginning with false churches who have rejected God's Law.

  • Hallelujah. If I was stupid enough to be Christian I'd go to this guy's church. But I have a brain so I won't.

  • This video is awesome, more people need to be preaching this the message of Jesus, there is to much hate being preached

  • Ed, Fred... Stop winding each other up. You are both mature adults. Can't either of you find a way to get on? use the passions you both have to find ground to chat calmly? Making Models? What are either of you getting out of this? Listen:

"A man may win HIS argument but he loses his man"

  • Homosexuality is wrong, period, just like adultery or murder. You can't simply accept the parts of the Bible that you like. Toss out Romans? Major portions of the Old Testament? It's too bad that Tony Campolo has become a luminary for the Emergent Church these days and has turned his back on the inerrancy of Scripture.

  • My ignorant friend, The Old Testament was abolished on the day of Pentacost, when JESUS died and the curtain was ripped from top to bottom in the temple. You need to read your Bible more, bigot and spend less time persecuting the Gay Community. Now that the democrat liberals have taken over, your goose is cooked !!!! I look for Gay Marriages to be a common place happening within 2 years. GOODBYE self righteous righter hag hack bigots....THANK GOD FOR LIBERAL DEMOCRATS !!!!

  • Wow, such love that flows from you:) The OT was not abolished - it was FULFILLED, but following YOUR "logic," I can go out and kill someone now. So inherent in your "logic" then is the admittance that homosexuality WAS wrong in the OT...

  • With your judgmental attitude, i would be afraid of being killed myself, if I were you. Better watch your back satanic religious righter hag hack, there are many rooftop serial killers who are starting to kill you zealots.

  • Wow, please don't tell me you're a Christian, all right? Please also don't tell me you're sane.

  • YES I AM A CHRISTIAN, ALL RIGHT ???? Please don't tell me that YOU are a Christian !!! It is you and your satanic cohorts that are responsible for the mess our country is in. YOU ARE EVIL TO THE CORE. How dare you ask if I am a Christian, you judgmental BIGOT !!!

  • WOW, what kind of so-called christian are you ??? Are you a teddy haggart type, who stays high on crystal meth all the time and has sex with male prostitutes....or are you a mark foley type, who has sex with little boys ??? By the way, are you insane with the drugs your psychiatrist gives you ???

  • HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT WRONG, P E R I O D !!!! just like eating Pizza and Pork is not wrong....except to a Jew; are you Jewish, or a so-called christian....which is it, republican religious righter hag hack ???

  • It's as wrong as having sex outside of marriage. End of story. You're wrong, period. I personally don't care, but it seems you have enough anger and enmity for the entire world. That's YOUR problem. Get right with God. Good-bye.

  • It is wrong for you to judge me; END OF STORY. YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS WRONG, I personally could NOT give a rats rectum, but it seems you have enough HATE and BIGOTRY for the entire world. That, my ignorant friend, is your problem !!! GET RIGHT WITH GOD YOURSELF, before you have the republican religious righter hag hack arrogance to talk to me about GOD, Goodbye, I hope for good, you are a seething satanist.

  • Dude, I am NOT judging YOU. I am simply pointing out what the Bible says about the sin of homosexuality. I could care less if you have homosexual orgies every night. Makes no difference to me. It's simply wrong. Funny how your guilt is making you so angry...

  • homosexuality is a sin, just like your childish insults are a sin.

  • Yes,shame on the church that they are not loving to homosexuals But also shame on the church when they do not tell the truth that sin separates us not from the love of God but from a relationship with God and eternal salvation! It is NOT condemning to tell the TRUTH to repent and have faith in Jesus Christ for eternal salvation and for a restored relationship with God.Man was created to love God.If you love God you will obey Him.And God is the one who says homosexuality is sin.

  • Excellent. I agree mostly, but I disagree that being Gay is wrong. JESUS, as you said, never mentions it. JESUS, the greatest teacher of all, brought us the NEW WAY; if not being Gay, is so important for eternal life, why did JESUS not have a sermom about it? Paul was guilty of being a human; letting Jewish upbringing cloud his mind to the light of JESUS. Also, anyone who believes the old law, is still law, is NOT a Christian. JESUS is about love and caring for yourself, as well as others.

  • I think Jesus' response to the Pharisees in Matthew 19 gives His answer about homosexuality: "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female..."

He does not mention men with men, or women with women. The absence of that reference speaks volumes.

  • That means absolutely nothing about homosexuals and you know it. What an ignorant statement that was. You religious righter hag hacks will stop at nothing to persecute the Gay Community with any little verse you want to use to make your bigotry seem fair to you. GET BEHIND ME SATAN....I brush you off my feet like so many grains of sand, you hypocrites and judgmental bigots !!!

  • Of course it means something. You simply refuse to acknowledge it. Paul speaks clearly about it in Romans as well, but I'm sure you have a wonderful way of excluding the Pauline teaching. I don't persecute anyone, simply making comments. It's obvious that the same cannot be said about you though...

  • No, republican, it does not mean something except to a heterosexual, republican religious righter hag hack. Paul was a BIGOT and a Jewish man with old traditional values. Are you just plain IGNORANT ???

  • Ok this sucks! People keep using parties as insults when fact is Jesus will never assign himself to a party, both are flawed!

And yes the old testiment was fulfiled and we must still take note of it to understand the new testament. However we MUST stop persecuting gays! Otherwise we may as well persecute liers which there is also blanket law about. We are no better or worse then gays.

  • I'm sick of fellow christians elevating themselves above others. This is one of many things Jesus warned against! We are not better then any other person saved or unsaved! We are simply just that... saved. Jesus never came so that we may continue to marganise people and turn them away from church. Yes the gospels and the entire bible is clear on homosexuality but so is it on all the sins we have also commited.

  • Jesus also didn't give a speech on pedophilia, beastiality, polygamy being a sin either so are you going to tell us that all these sexual perversions are also not a sin? The Bible is pretty clear on homosexuality being a sin.

  • Wow God uses this man so well.
