Nope. This is what we call Sensual Bachata. You can recognise Dominican Bachata mainly by it's impressive footwork. In this Bachata style, the emphasize is more about the Sensuality of the dance.

It's like Cuban people will mock people who dance Salsa on 2, or instead of dancing it in circular motions, dance in a stright line (we call it L.A. Style, dunno how it's called in the States). All are valid forms of Salsa, and none is trying to be like the other. Same with Dominican Bachata Style and other styles. Different sides of the same coin, only the Authentic dancers sometimes choose to crit the others for not dancing like they do...

I am 1 who has positive feelings and comments about your effort, appearance and choice of music! Anyone can and should be proud of what they create as the pure form. But it's true thant when it goes out into the world, U can't keep control of the directions it takes. but If ur saying that this dance is foreign to you, that ur learning from DVDs & for a very short time, wouldn't there be validity to criticisms regarding authenticity? Wouldn't u be helping take it as inspiration in new direction?

First of all, thank you for your comments. We really appriciate you taking the time to write. :-)

Second, we don't have any pretense that we dance Bachata as it being danced in the Dominican Republic, in the Authentic way (it was created there), therefore criticisms on us not dancing DR style, is not valid because we didn't aim there to begin with. We just dance in a different style of Bachata. It's like someone will crit us for not managing to do Tango right, in this video. :-)

Just a word of advice for the man. I don't know if you've already done this exercise, but put yourself in front of a mirror. Then move your torso from left to right. Then add the shoulders (still doing the same movement of the torso). Then stop and move your waist from left to right. After a bit, make a curvy-like movement with it. and then you mix it all up ;)

I will suggest for you to make the steps a little longer, almost elastic in a way to make it more sensual and less robotic. I know you are not professionals and I must say you both are doing very well. I think the song could be a bad choice and would recommend a different song. Overall good job and keep at it and you will find a swing to call yours. Thanks for the video.

You guys are pretty cool. I don't really dance the bachata, so I may be off base here, but it seems that if you would loosen up your stomach muscles and try to have your movements originate from your pelvic muscles rather than your obliques, the moves would be more sensual and less stiff.

Thanks for your comment. I've been thinking on the same thing. Been trying to add something to the 4 count so it won't be detached or robotic, but can't really put my finger on it. I've watched other videos, but in most of them there is sort of a pause in there (along with the hip movement). Any suggestions as to what is that "feeling" to add?

Triple steps on a single count is part of Dominican Bachata, no? I want my Bachata to look Sensual, not full of fast steps that will make it look very energetic. Energetic is good, but it's not what I'm aiming for. :-)

@AlonGoshen i don't dance dominican bachata but you should know it is not a bad thing if you mix your bachata with some other elements...that is what alemana do and they know better than you and me :) so,try to be more open-minded...also,one thing you have to pay attention is your ''tap'' on 4 and on 8 because it is too intense and it should be more gentle,that is why your movements seem to be robotic at times...

@AlonGoshen ...on 4 and 8..kinda dip ya hip down and then kick it up...maybe lift the heel on the kick up as well...IM only a begginer as well.so tis may be wrong..but i have noticed that every one kinda has there own 4 and 8 to be honest....also find a good song to practice to ..like maybe Xtreme-Te Extrano...also...i find the dance partner who has a really nice rhythm and 4 and 8 is easier to for me to then gets some feeling into it!!..hope it helps!!

@AlonGoshen if you want to aim for the sexual bachata thats very sensual... look up fusion zouk or bachazouk... look up "zouk she e re 2" if you can mix this with bachata... you'll find exactly what you're looking for... i like a very energetic but sexual bachata... the mix is between the dominican footwork and the zouk fusion... but thats just me... but to get to this level, you need a lot of stretching and work behind it...
