  • I CRIED WEN THEY TOOK TOONAMI OFF ...STILL DO

  • Toonami was awesome when i was 16 as i was an anime fan since 93 when i watched Vampire Hunter D and Robot Carnival on TBS when i was 12 then i rewatched this show when i was 16 cause i grew up in the 80's with this show and also watched Sailor Moon ( i was in love with the scouts), Outlaw Star, DBZ, Tenchi etc. they were cool. Cheetah is still sexy as ever.

  • pretty sweet i like the toonami cowboy bebeop or was it cartoon network??

  • well hey guys they r showing thundercats sat. at 9:00 or ten the old version

  • well hey guys they r showing thundercats sat. at 9:00 or ten

  • man i hated the new cartoonnetwork i miss the past.

  • fucking niggers got this show cancelled and replaced with justin bieber bullshit. i'm gonna kill all the niggers responsible.

  • was that a 90's intro playing old cartoons?

  • 15/7/98! Cool! Ho!

  • haha that was a great show in my day

  • HEY MOLTAR!!! The guy who was one of Space Ghost's enemies, back when he did Toonami before Tom was made!

  • i remember when i use to watch this show, i was like 5 haha, good times. well this and he man.

  • Brings back so many memories ><

  • can anyone tell me what was the name of the beat used in this intro this was the beat that started toonami in 98 i cant find this beat anywhere be one hell of a ringtone!!! lol

  • WTF? the slaughtered one of cartoons' most a amazing openings! Why, why would anyone do such an evil thing? They didn't make a new one, they just butchered a classic!

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

  • 0:28 does he say "Bring it homie"

  • @LJK193

No, Mumm-Ra says, "Bring it to me!" (referring to the Sword of Omens)

  • @PhireMadeFlesh Oh Ok. But it sure sounded like "Bring it homie"

  • @PhireMadeFlesh Villain suggestion of the year: "Bring it to me!"

  • Actually, Voltron had a Toonami intro right from the start: it was the first show to have one.

Oh, the stuff I wish I could find, like Toonami's second year intro for 1998, or those old skateboarder interviews. Damn my deteriorating tapes that probably don't have anything on them anyway.

  • try toonamiarsenal.

  • Already have, since 1998.

  • Thundercats! Awesome! If the entire show was animated as good as the opening it would have been my favorite. It's still one of the best!

  • Freakin Sailor Moon, Thundercats, Dragon Ball Z, and Johny Quest, ever weekday after school

  • Okay, i understand you like this, but the original intro is waaaaaaaayy much better!!!!!!

  • holy crap! I forgot this ever existed. thanks! takes me back

  • No problem. I'm glad you like it!

  • Great show, loved cartoon network alright... BUT CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHY THE HELL DID THEY CHANGE THE ORIGINAL OPENING SONG?

  • I had a CN/Toonami exec email me back in the day, and they said, more-or-less, that they felt that by adding their own opening themes, those shows would fit better into the Toonami theme.

    Whatever.

  • because the toonami intro were always better than the originals

  • this intro was better than the original????

    o.O

    no way!

  • Toonami had good introductions, but they paled in comparison to the originals.

  • They had done the same thing with Sailor Moon to.

  • can anyone tell me what was the name of this track used and is it a full track? I remember when cartoon network introduced toonami and all the shows in 97 it used this track

  • I myself don't know. If anybody out there does, could you please answer this user's question? Thank you!

  • I miss Toonami, Dragonball Z, Thundercats... *Sigh*

  • I know. Cartoon Network used to rock back in the day. I guess we're just getting too old.

  • Im going to start recording these shows and put them in a time capsul. Along with pictures from the 80s and everything.

  • Glad you like. I *know* I have a clean recording of it somewhere (without the green ID bar). I'll be on the lookout and post it once I track it down.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • thank youuuu!!! geez i have been looking for this toonami opening forever!!! the moltar days.. wow throw back. good stuff.

  • As someone that's been trying to find Moltar-era clips for quite since these originally aired, I thank you.

I could do without those openings and closings, though, no offense.

Got any more Moltar-era clips? Maybe some of those interviews with skateboarders and the like?

  • No offense taken. Toonami did have a lot of nerve to jack with the original opening & ending themes.

I have hours and hours of Toonami programming from 1997 on through 2003, and most of it features Moltar.

I'll post more of these kinds of clips once I run across them.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • Um...I meant YOUR openings and closings, sorry. I actually loved Toonami's openings and closings.

Maybe you could donate said clips to the Toonami Digital Arsenal?

  • Heh, wow, I sure sounded like a pompous ass there, didn't I? That didn't come out at ALL like I wanted it to.

Seriously, I love Toonami; it's openings, closings, music videos, everything about it, especially the early years. Thank you for uploading a small piece of it.

Also, thanks for uploading those Cartoon Planet clips. I loved watching Cartoon Planet and SG:C2C back in high school.

I hope you keep uploading these great clips.

  • That cracked me up. Don't worry, only a small piece of me thought you sounded like a pompous ass (but only for a second).

The rest of me understands that things don't always come out the way we intend in written form.

Thanks for all your comments and praise. I will continue to post more videos in the near future.
