sorry to comment so much! but know that i think about it i didnt poke a hole in that plunger thing. if i do should i tape it up after or will i ruin it by doing so?
alright i did this. i think it kinda helped BUT im not exactly sure. it doesnt seem as loud as it was and seems lower on the rpms BUT once again i cant exactly tell. my car is running alot smoother. im just going to be posting a video up on my car and what im talking about when i say my linkage may be off. its hard to explain.
im going to try this as soon as it isnt cold. i know for a fact my car isnt doing this BUT my problem is is my transmission I THINK MY TRANSMISSION or maybe linkage is giving me problems. what i mean is like say i put my car in park... well its actually kinda in reverse and ill have to hit it kinda hard forwarded so it thinks its in park to start it. and get it to go i have to put it in 2nd first then knock it into drive to pput it in technical drive. everyones telling me its the linkage put idk
THANK YOU! i was trying to figure out what this was showing on this page_ allpar.com/neon/repairs.html but you showed it to me. so did this completely fix the problem for you? because my car wont shift to 3rd and its seriously sucking the shit out of my gas.
i have a 98 also that jumps in revers.and some times takes a long time to go into 2 gear i have to floor it half way then let the throtle off a little any ideas car has only 80k thanks have a great 1.car still has oribinal trans oil

@litoariel No it is definitely not supposed to be loose like that. Im guessing there is a bearing or bushing that is shot underneath there
