Cordless drills are EVIL..... The plug in ones are anoying to string cords around but for drilling holes in metal (basically super heavy duty work) a good plug in drill is awesome and they have SOOOO much power so they never lock up on a burr. I use my ancient black and decker drill like a impact wrench sometimes because its soo powerful.
dude you should join DARPA or something. that way people would pay you to make awesome robots and stuff. t shirt funding is nice, but a blank check from the US goverment is better.
Um one question or well maybe two. How are you planning on getting on top of the robot when it's finished? And how are you going to transport it off ur mountian?
so I just found these videos this morning (in Oz, so its 11:35am now), and have just watched through to this one. Wow. This is seriously awesome, man. I feel inspired to do something awesome now. And I love your property. I miss living in the woods like that. One day gonna get some place in the middle of nowhere and just build cool shit all day, haha!
it was awesome, I understand the principles and yet it was still nice to see in practice what you built from them and how you were thinking. It aslo shows how careful your thinking is on this kind of thing... sometimes it seems, oh, jamie's just hacking together a robot... but I can see your mind is really very careful where it matters, and it shows in your work.
I'm dumbfounded you made that little robot climb, and I marvel at however the spider steering system works...
hey jaimie i was wondering what are you gonna power it on... maybe you have talked it allready but i dont remember.. what kind of batteries are you going to use? is any.
I recognize that feeling when trying to explain ones creations. It all seems so clear in your head, but it is impossible to explain in words. Anyway, in one video you explained how you work on your projects mentaly. Could you make a more in-depth tutorial about how to do that? That would be awesome and so usefull.
hmm... a tutorial about how to change your mind into a problem solving machine? I could... I think. It might be hard to explain, but... I'll think about it. Oh crap. I hope I don't forget. :-P
Yay #33! 33 videos at 10 minutes a piece is getting awfully close to 6 hours.....and here we are hanging on to your every word! Not to mention all of your other sweet videos, like the dome systems and alaska trip and bees and towers. I bet a lot of us have watched 12 hours of your footage JME
I've been curious about that... doesn't seem like you are going to a cafe... you'd have no time :)
I'm impressed that you know enough about the freedom of motion those legs need to design that pully with the wafer at the right angle and everything... I know physics well enough to be very impressed with your ability to apply it in engineering.
You've got the video of the drill when it was new. Tell them that!!

thanks! Ya, I'm a little goofy, and uhh... energetic when I'm building. ....but a lot of thought goes into the designs and stuff. :-)

Well... haven't worked that out exactly yet. I'll just stick a generator on it ar first. ...until I get my hands on some batteries somewhere.

I guess it turns out Ridged were quite inflexible.
I couldn't resist that joke, I doubt I'm the first to say it.
Your robot's really looking roboty now, I can't wait to see it start walking.

Hey be careful with the grinder! If a spark hits the camera it could scorch the lens or something!
Sparks = bad. I learned the hard way :(

ya... some of my physics gets fudged a little when I put it into real life. ...but its close enough! ha ha.
Oh, and I don't have internet at home. I go to the local law school or somewhere with wireless. Hmm... maybe I should make a FAQ video. :-P
