I think the title means gate gate um... I don't know the next part. I mean, fi you split it up it would be created to better, but that's just my guess.
I get beaten by the miko, witch and maid after I challenge. Delusion, phantasm, ultra soul! I will escape from reality Democracy Freedom! I endure any wind and rain Oh, I have the experience to be stabbed with knives I shall work very seriously So this is only my wish Beni misuzu. Wrong! Shout my real name! * I will forget anything and everything * including beautiful life * I will go to a torture chamber * Piece of cake Repeat
Sorry to separate because of limitation *=Hong Meiling 1 I have my own name declaring in front of the gate Please listen to me, everyone I don`t know what I`m called now You make the mistake although you already know Thank you for calling me But it`s not the answer I expect Ah,I like you as the first person I am glad to admire you Hold me, hold me,it`s going well If I feel more deeply Hong and Mei and Ling, shout my real name!
Mmmm! Just checked up on the title of this song, though I have no idea how to double check if it's the real one. xD Anyways, it's supposed to be "Let's Do the Gates!" =D
It's really hard to translate. But the word "gates" is actually said twice so... "Let's do the gate gate" sounds really awkward but that's what it literally says. Of course, literal translations are bad ones...
Why was this post marked down when he's right? It's a vocal of Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17, China's boss theme, not Chinese Tea which is her stage theme.
I think you can hear China's theme more clearly if you listen to the words rather than the melody itself. It is pretty far off from the original for a remix, but it's definitely a remix nonetheless.
The East has discovered the 1920's! Quick everyone, grab a trenchcoat and a fedora, grab a flapper, and get to the ballrooms! This is the kind of hub-bub that's going to be all over the speakeasies!
Heeehee, we rarely see vocal remixes of Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17! I always see remixes of Shanghai Teahouse ~ Chinese Tea. This video is automatically favorited.

mmm... sry but nope..
it sounds more like an inspired song than a recreation of one...
I mean, with all of the other stuff they've made you can clearly hear the beat, but... this one it sounds more like an original that was inspired by her theme, but not actually using her theme.
I think they did some wordplay with 門門 (which isn't a real word, just "gate gate") and 悶々 or 悶悶, which means worry or distress, both pronounced mon-mon...maybe distress over her name? cough China
COOL&CREATE, as they often do, released an instrumental version of this song. However during the chorus you can hear "Hong Meiling, Hong Meiling" in the background.
It's called swing, which is a sub-genre of jazz. ^^; Try this song called Midnight Dekaranger, from the Japanese Sentai series, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger. It sounds exactly like this. o_o;
I tried to search like that swing, but ehh its not quite the same. Im looking this type of gernre, a dark jazz indeed, in other words, like a Casino style. Try to seaech "Etna Boogie". Is quite the thing im looking too.
To resume the things, something like "Oogie Boogie" song, as much as I hate to make reference with that song.
Thanks for the info anyway, im going to search the song you told me right away.....

門 reads as "mon" which means "gate"
門門しましょ reads as "mon mon shimashou" which literally translates to "Let's (do) gate gate" which doesn't make sense to me.
Pickleton 3 years ago
Doesnt Jazz have alot of "Do the this n that"? Maybe this is with lets do the gategate because Meiling is the gatekeeper.
RageZX1 3 years ago
I agree. Not to mention mon and Hong sound a lot alike.

my translator says the 門 kanji means "gate"
so my best guess is that the song is "Let's Do the Gate-Gate!"
from what i get of the lyrics, it's a serenade to Hong Meiling, hehe.
vedasisme 4 years ago
Two repeated kanji also emphasizes a plural form. So it could be "Let's Do the Gates!"
Either way, great song, right?
ShimafromMS 4 years ago
and,
"mon mon to suru" means "suffer from mental agony."
So this title also means "Let's suffer from mental agony"
(Normally, "mon mon to suru" is writen like "悶々とする."
But "門(mon:gate)" is used instead of "悶(mon:agonize)." Probably this is wordplay.)
Sorry for my bad English.
torikki 4 years ago 13
yes, chuugoku is a gatekeeper, so "let's guard the gate" is a close translation
etc7 3 years ago
That's actually pretty awesome, a swing era styled version of Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17.
