It's probably some sort of punishment, meant to humiliate them - or it could be an unconventional way of training them, by making them do ridiculous things while maintaining silence and keeping a straight face. Shot for an advert (hear the director shout "And cut"), Somerset House is often used for events & adverts, there are no Guards there. At least the guys look like Guardsmen and have SA80 rifles, usually adverts get it totally wrong!

I'm not entirely sure why this video was made but the "uniform" these men are wearing is a hodge-podge - tunics from the Grenadier Guards, hats from the Scots Guards, trousers which seem to be plain black civilian dress. Also there are no Guards at Somerset House, since it's used now by the Civil Service.

I guess it'll fool a few Americans but, seriously, no-one with a brain in their head could believe this was genuine.
