I am from wv as well and it is a place to make or break your will to be a really strong person. It is hard to grow up here and make a living. It is hard to make money coal is all there is. When you are a woman what do you have really unless you marry or were born with a golden spoon in your mouth. It is just like living in the trap. Sometimes you have to hustle to make it here.

Back in the day, rich people from out of state moved in and offered the poor property owners what seemed like an amazing offer for their mineral rights. In reality, it was a ripoff. Soon most male West Virginians were indebted to the coal company, living in camps, and working for worthless script.
