Anyway, on Metal Archives it's stated that their lyrics are about: " Anti-Religion, Torture, Morality, Social Issues". Pretty standard for death metal bands :)

I started listening to death-metal bands back in the later 80's like autopsy, sepultura and death.

To be honest all the lyrics were about gore and misery in society like suicide, drugs, abortion... Never a hint of religion... That stuff came along with Deicide's debut album and the norwegian black metal in mid 90's...

So in my opninion Death metal originally never had anything with religion to do...
