I'm sorry for sounding dumb but I just started this game and I've been trying out the buttons. The only problem I have is how to pause the game or during a level how to return to the selection screen?

If this game were like the '06 StH with the freeroam and the like, I would absolutely love this. I'm one of the fighter-game types, and seeing Sonic like this but with the Freeroam style like in 06, It would be the perfect game for me.
The story for this sonic game is better than unleashed but then again the Sonic games aren't known mostly for their stories but rather the action and levels. But still the story is better I'm not a fan of the old style drawn cutscenes i'm used to cg scenes but nonethe less the game looks like it was put together pretty well.

Nope. in the manual for Sonic 3 Knuckles was listed as 15, and his age wasn't really mentioned again until Heroes (as far as I'm aware), where it was listed as 16.
That's odd. Well, they aren't really consistent with their manuals, for example "Hyper Shadow." So I'm not really sure the manuals are a good source for franchise information...

Most critics are idiots in my opinion. Someone said that the werehog gameplay from Sonic Unleashed felt 'slapped on' to the Sonic experience. I think it shows how Sonic can do more than run and homing attack enemies. With the exception of those damned bees the werehog gameplay was fun.
@SonicDude87 I totally agree. It's the same with this game. Some felt the sword gameplay was "broken" and the review for it was nothing but bitching. Morons was the ones up there hosting X-Play, Attack of the Show and other crap and hate on good video game series because the series doesn't follow it's iconic gameplay to a T. But bullshit. They want to repeat the same gameplay to death. Why? What good reason is there? Nostalgia isn't good enough. Sonic evolved and should keep being new each game.
@SonicDude87 I think that the main problem people have with the werehog stages (other than hating them completely,) is that they greatly outnumber the day stages. Also, it started to become repeditive when they got to Eggman's land, where they would have to deal with about 3,4, or even 5 stages in a row.
Most applauded sonic games are appreciated for having good replayable value for having fun and great speed. It's not that comforting knowing an S rank for a night stage can take 6-7 minutes.
@SonicDude87 uh i HATED that, especially on the heavenly ruins level with the bees and the big mini boss guy, one bee got stuck in the air over the edge and i had ran out of crates - ,- god damnit i had to wait 2 minutes, good thing i had gotten there quickly and finished the rest of the level quickly, or i would've gotten like an A or B

I know that sonic games have been lacking in quality lately by personally I can't see anything wrong with this game. it seems like the controls work and the pace is as fast as expected, so why did IGN pan it? I guess the only way to find out is to try the game out.
I'm not going to lie, this looks really akward to play. Good graphics, terrible animations, and if you have to swing your Wiimote every time you attack...yikes.
If this game is controlled by the wiimote, no fucking way am I getting this! Secret Rings sucked because of that among other reasons....by the way, woot, 100th comment ^.^
Yeah, sometimes the sensors didn't work and steering was a challenge too. The party games was the only reason to keep it but I only have 1 wiimote so the multiplayed thing didn't work.

I'm not going to lie, this looks really akward to play. Good graphics, terrible animations, and if you have to swing your Wiimote every time you attack...yikes.

If this game is controlled by the wiimote, no fucking way am I getting this! Secret Rings sucked because of that among other reasons....by the way, woot, 100th comment ^.^

Yeah, sometimes the sensors didn't work and steering was a challenge too. The party games was the only reason to keep it but I only have 1 wiimote so the multiplayed thing didn't work.
Best Sonic game ever is Sonic Adventure 2 Battle ^_^
Anyway, I'm downloading the demo as soon as it comes out, I think it'll suck, I only hope I'm wrong.

Well, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is the best 3D Sonic game, but I probably wouldn't go far as to say the best Sonic game.
