This is one of the tracks where cars fall off - the driver can´t even see if his tires are on track, and that idiot sits right below. Incredible. I guess live is cheap where this film was made. totally irresponsible.
When R.G. LeTourneau was an American Underslung salesman he built a 40' high set of stairs at the fairgrounds in California and drove over it at speed to show the traction and handling abilities of that automobile, and that was a hundred years ago. (And then he later pioneered large pnuematic tires and electric wheel drive earthmovers).
You should really weld some bars on the sides and in between to catch a falling vehicle. You can replace your exhaust but you can't replace your life... unless you found a green mushroom at some point...
@naamlucked It's a standard Landrover Defender. They've been around since 1948 (although in the old days they were called "Series 1, 2 or 3 rather than "Defender"). It's estimated that around 70% of Series X/Defenders are still being driven today. They've been the most capable, reliable and versatile off road vehicle available for over 60 years. .
"They've been the most capable, reliable and versatile off road vehicle available for over 60 years. . "
Probably shared between Defenders (or predecessors), Land Cruisers, and Jeeps (which served as the basis for many future 4x4s.) I wouldn't pin that label on just one.
@Doan84 I know! A tragedy of Shakespearian proportions. It's because the Defender has become such an icon, people who don't "need" one, drive them because it IS one. The Defender is a "tool", not an "SUV", not a "weekend car", not a "heading up the ski-field" car, it's a tool, like a hammer/chainsaw/Boarder Collie.... In the old days, they were used by farmers, explorers, (proper) hunters. But now, they are also used by people who don't need them, and only on tarmac. The end of an era.
@robbiepitcher I agree that the Land Cruiser is an amazing vehicle, certainly on par with the Defender, and in some circumstances preferable; deep river crossings for example (they're much heavier than a Defender). Arguably, the Defender has a slight edge over the Land Cruiser overall for it's versatility and aluminium body (makes it less top-heavy). It's debatable though, they've been competing with each other since 1951. It's almost like Canon/Nikon debate.
@mdma111 I HAVE A I968 S2A THEY A LOAD OF RUBBISH REALLY I HAVE HAD 3 I DONT THINK I AM RIGHT IN THE HEAD . BUT IT IS BETTER FIXING LANDYS THAN GETTING PLAYED HELL WITH FOR SHAGING BIRDS THE WIFE DONT LIKE THAT . BUT SHE DONT LIKE THE LAND ROVERS EITHER
@brackipas thats realy cool but i have another question I think there are competitions but are they in all the countries of the world or as an example only in Europe?????
it's obviously designed to look more impressive than it is (not that it's not impressive) the vehicle is essentially ascending at around a 45% gradient but it appears much steeper because of the bell shape of the main structure.
I'm not sure I see the practical application of being able to do this... and I have a feeling my cherokee could... and no I can't post a video of it because this track isn't available to me.
to everyone saying that this isnt impressive because you can do...POST A VIDEO OF YOU DOING IT OR GTFO this is definitely impressive, both the control of the driver and the power of the vehicle and tires
@pootinhammer I'll post a video of me doing it in my Jeep if you'd like to make the track. Not all that impressive by the driver either, just keep the wheel straight. Let's see him do it with a manual transmission. Still cool but it's not that impressive.
@marshalllucky ar you shitting me i saw those cxars that you say stuck on stupid flex thing when offroad my parent land rover freelander did it easy stil i like old cars
@84V65MAG indeed i had a guy in a honda civic try to play chicken with me in my Land Rover LR3 and from what i could dell he only wanted to by pass a line up at the intersection so he could bake his turn :S
He had the tires spinning going up and had em locked up and sliding on the way down, this dude has the biggest set of balls ever! If I met him I would bow to the awesumness which he posesses! Cool video too
@321Huan I could do it without a landrover. Just walk up it. Now if you said he could do it in a Barbie car, it would be more difficult as well as amusing
Can you name the truck with four wheel drive, Smells like a steak, and seats thirty five? Canyonero! Canyonero! Well, it goes real slow with the hammer down, It's the country-fried truck endorsed by a clown, Canyonero! Canyonero! Hey, hey! Twelve yards long, two lanes wide, Sixty five tons of American pride! Canyonero! Canyonero! Top of the line in utility sports, Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts! Canyonero!
@gastekglobal still doesn't mean than any truck with the right clearance could do this. landrovers are over-priced pos, and you sir are a racist. the engine originated from america because they had so much oil they had to use it for something. it still takes you 4 valves and variable cam timing and all the exoticness in the world when two valve pushrod engines can do the same, its just sad.
@horacio1464 the Hummer is too heavy, wide, low clearance, expensive, bad handling, did i mention heavy? to be of any real use off road. it is a luxury vehicle that can be driven off road, but unless you put lots more money into it there is little hope for it off road. with a bit of work anyone with fabrication skills can make a far more capable vehicle from a junker for less than 5k while your pretty hummer comes stock for 40k
Might be impressive if it weren't absolutely pointless. One more thing to add to the list of stupid shit that's earmarking humanity for collapse.
