Just like auto cars, you should never learn on an auto bike, this bike should only be used by experienced riders who want to relax. If you can't use a clutch on a bike you should never ride a bike on the road.
ok I want a bike like this...how do i go about getting one? anyone? anyone? I've tried the standard transmission bike the hole up shift down shift....I always embarrassed myself because id stall out so now the auto is here and i feel they made this bike specifically for me so.........please anyone who can inform me of the full schematics of this i await it
I've pretty much stopped watching these because I have to watch that stupid 20 second intro each time. Also, I wish people would just get rid of the words "entry level bike" - what do THEY know about entry level. I've been riding 50 years and to me there is no such thing. A bike is a bike. And if I want to ride a 200cc bike because that's what I want - I don't want it called "entry level."
@borge225 Don't you know that you're only supposed to ride a 250 so you can get good enough to ride a 600 so you can get good enough to ride a literbike?
I mean come on, how are you going to get to Starbucks before the cute barista leaves if you don't have 150 hp?
for people who are really interested, we watch a LOT of these reviews...and get really tired of the intro. Why not just get right to the information. I don't mind the guy being blase if he would give a little more information and in a little more organized manner. He really is boring though...for an exciting bike.
ALUMINIUM...IUM...IUM..MAN.....AL,OOO, MIN,EEEEEEEE, UM. NOT ALOOOMINUMM. GET IT RIGHT..WHY CAN'T YOU YANKS SEE THE BLOODY WAY IT'S SPELT...ENUNCIATE YOUR WORDS CORRECTLY YOU PHILISTINES!!
@mikeryry: wow, you're a real moron. it's spelled "aluminum". a-loo-mi-num.
yes, YOU were taught different, but that's because you were apparently taught wrong, as humphry davy, the BRIT who discovered it, originally named it "alumium" and then later changed it himself to "aluminum".
so, you pedantic fool, the reason we americans pronounce it "incorrectly" is because, as usual, the british are wrong and yet so arrogant that they don't realize it.
Could this reviewer be any more boring? This should be real interesting with the cvt trans, the only thing really different about the bike. Get used to it you clutch jockeys, the cvt is the wave of the future.
Sorry if I was unclear.Cracker in this context means brilliant. But be careful cause Aprilia are awfully slow with parts. 0 - 100 in about 5 secs. Just hold on tight. top speed is just over 220k, some on net say 240+ but I haven't done that.
This "reviewer" is about as stimulating as a stack of cold pancakes. JHC, if I got paid (or even free) to ride and review bike I'd jizz my fucking pants...DAILY! Fire this guy...ugh.
The bike is a cracker. I bought one in August 08 and it has been brilliant. Quick and agile, acceleration is great and general responsiveness is full-on. Only trouble is getting someone to do a good service as at least in Australia, Aprilia does not seem to train them well enough.
I have driven an automatic bike before and I like them. But what I want to know is: what is the acceleration like; How many seconds from 0-60 mph? 0-100 kmh? what is it like to drive on long journeys? Does it carry passengers easily? What about comfort for tall men over 6 ft? How many m.p.g. in town and on the motorway? what are the differences between the gear modes?Does it use actual gears? Saying it is sporty is not enough. I want accurate figures please!
Did somebody force him to do this review? I am pretty sure he sounded the same when he did his book reports in the 3rd grade. He makes me want to rush out and get one so that I can be just as excited.
well... at the moment i consider myself to be an "entry rider"... and i would not even think about a bike that has either auto-transmission or ABS. just because in my opinion it ruins a "driving style" before it could even evolve. i rather want to learn how to drive a "real" bike. if i once will come to the point at which i just want maximum comfort - then i'll get a bike with AT, integrated ABS, stability control and so on ;-) ...
WELL: this bike still is innovative and looks quite good though
Note to the narrator of this video - Don't drink all that cough medicine before talking on the mic. Get some sleep and you'll talk much better.Aprilia is probably rolling their eyes on this video. They're saying, "Dude, thanks but no thanks for the review of our friggin bike!!"
I rented one for a day - a great bike - fun, fast and the auto thing and different engine mappings is very cool. Drove all day in the mountains - handles great - bottom line - a quality bike that's a ton of fun to ride.
they need a different reviewer. This guy always seems to be so blase about the reviews. He has no emotion in his voice. Be excited man, your job is to ride motorcycles.

Very nice concept, I'd almost buy 1 b/c of the boot. About the CVT thing, I don't think that's necessarily a bad idea. Just one that takes getting used to. I would think sport touring not "having" to shift wouldn't be a let down. But that would require a fairing ;-)
I love gears however and the thing would stay in sport mode. I think AT or CVT gears wide so you don't have to worry about mid apex am i 2 low or 2 high? And if you shift, it might B less apt to throw you. Also seems a CVT robs pwr
The bike is good, its got the muscular look, the exo chassis is also cool....Auto transmission on a bike? I have never rode a bike with auto....infact this is the first time am knowing that there are bikes with auto....The presenter though, quite dull or may be he didnt have a good night sleep...
It still is mind-boggling to me that they have autos but nobody has had the nuts to develop an auto-clutch for the bike. That would be such a gain for performance!
Enough with the damn autos! Part of the experience is the shifting anyway.
auto on a bike... there are sooo many ways this could go wrong. eg. shifting through corners ... The reviewer didn't mention the feel of the gear shifts. btw, is he coming off meth?
Be a little more excited about it!!!! Especially about it's cool features. Like the gas tank that isn't a gas tank at all. It's a storage compartment which is completely awesome. And the gas tank is under the seat which completely lowers the center of gravity and makes it more stable. And looks good for naked bike. But I'll have to stick with my Z1000 for now.
