Yes this is a compression test on the aerogel.The stuff feels a little spungy when pressed with fingers,so I imagine it would act this way.Then turning to fine dust as it breaks down to pressure.

as this is used for space missions where there is no atmosphere. would it not make any difference..

and how much fuel you need to use to do it.

I think the aerogel material was inside that cube, and once it was squished, little white shards like grains of sand poured out of it
