Im from wisconsin and not just saying this becuz im from wisconsin. But yall talking bout he shouldn't get it but RG3 got it in they in a easier conference.
Trent Richardson had over 169 yards of total offense against the #1 defense in the country, LSU. That was over 60 percent of Alabama's total yards (which was 295) in that game. It is pretty safe to say that Montee Ball could get no where near those numbers vs LSU. The teams that wisconsin played this season had MEDIOCRE defenses. And lets not forget montee is running behind one of the best offensive line that was far superior to any defensive line they played against in the big ten.
@kylert12 not knocking Trent Richardson or anything, but it's hard to doubt Ball's ability after the year he just had. Michigan St. was 12th in the nation against the run, and that's after Ball played them twice. Game 1, 18-115-1 TD, plus 2 rec-24-1 TD. Game 2 27-137-3 TD's, plus 3 rec-7-1 TD. Trent piled up yards against cupcakes like North Texas(72 vs.run), Auburn(98th vs. run), Ole Miss(111 vs. run), and surprisingly Arkansas was 79th vs the run. They are both great college RB's.
@doerockstar Going by rankings against the run isn't a fair assessment, I mean last year Alabama made Mich. St. look awful because a top tier SEC team is on a totally different level then other conference top tier teams, I mean no one can beat us so they just made the SEC lose a BCS champ by making them play each other
@lilai33 The point I'm making is that beyond 'Bama and LSU, which no arguing are the two best defenses in college football, it was a down year for many teams in the SEC. Florida is nowhere near it used to be. Same with Auburn as well. Again responding to someone who accused Ball of piling up numbers against cupcakes. Trent had his fair share of cupcakes he piled up stats on as well. I understand you are biased and looking at everything through your SEC rose colored glasses. They are both good.
@doerockstar All i know is that big ten backs are known for having huge runningback busts, also yes I am biased but u don't what it feels like to have an SEC schedule it's like even when you're team is elite or great, you're still scared for you're life every week, and u are also correct in saying that we're in a down year this year, and i'm not saying Ball wouldn't be Decent in the SEC he just wouldn't be a heisman candidate,i mean seriously, Trent Richardson with Wisconson's line vs big ten D!
@kylert12 forgot to mention that epic Georgia Southern battle who is what used to be Div.II. Also Ball and Richardson had one common opponent, Penn St.
@doerockstar I'm an Auburn fan,so i hate Trent Richardson, but Ball has nothing on Trent, Trent did what he does in the SEC, Yeah one common game isn't a fair assessment either, Wisconsin actually has a pass game so people can't key on Ball, like they do Trent... also McCarron, or however u spell it, is nothing special, I mean u guys have Russel Wilson, guys a beast
@lilai33 I'm not hating on Trent Richardson, that guy is an amazing talent, and I'm not a Wisconsin fan for the record. I was responding to someone who said that Ball wouldn't have anywhere near the success that he was having this year if he played against SEC defenses. Sure Ball is running behind a talented offensive line, but you don't score 38 TD's by being a mediocre RB.Again, not saying he's better than Trent, but don't get carried away with disrespecting him is all I'm saying. He can play
@kylert12 Nobody cares about Trent's 169 yards against LSU. He had no TDs and it's basically forgotten. Enough said. WVU had 500 yards passing against LSU. Nobody will care about 169 yards against #1 defense if you can't even score a single TD.
Ppl gotta shut up, doesn't matter what conference u played in If ur a great RB, ur great. LT, ray rice, MJD, Lesean McCoy, Steven Jackson, nd arguably the two best running backs AP nd CJ2K aren't from the SEC. Besides how many great running backs were from the SEC anyways...Herschel Walker? D-Mac, knowshon and Bo Jackson couldn't stay healthy
@JMukiangelo Ronnie Brown, Ben Tate played great behind Arian Foster, Rudy Johnson(pro bowl),Shaun Alexander(pro bowl), Duece Mcallister Jamal Lewis(pro bowl), All SEC running backs, plus the ones u mentioned, and Bo Jackson played two different sports at a professional level, that would do a number on anyone... Besides Big Ten runningbacks have a history of being flops
Yeah, I like seeing a guy that runs out of bounds when he's about to get hit. A guy that gets caught from behind often even in his Highlights? and a guy that looks overall very slow. I know this is a Wisconsin Athletics page. So obviously I'm going against the grain here.. but have you actaully WATCHED Trent Richardson? I'm not saying Ball doesn't deserve it, but this whole "landslide" mentality shows me that you haven't even seen Richardson play.
The Best thing for him would be to fall in the Draft end up on the Lions. Megartron +Strafford + Monte Ball = explosive offense to match that defense.
I hope no one takes this wrong way but I hope he DOESN'T win the heisman. The last player to win it and have a good career in the pro's was woodson. I'd much rather see him lose it and go kick ass the pro's.
@ForzaFerrariNascar7 Incorrect—They changed the rules so that TD's in championship/bowl games count now. Barry had 39 in eleven games and 44 including his bowl game.
Wisconsin is just underrated in general, i mean ball of course should win the heisman, but that o-line opened up some huge holes for him (granted yes he makes people miss) and russell wilson has been godly this year...not bad for a transfer student from North Carolina
@boxheadrox Does Trent Richardson split time? No didn't fuckin think so. Look up James White dumbass. And if you say he's barely an impact player you can go fuck yourself. 700+ Yards 6 TDs. That's significant. Splitting carries....Fuck Trent Richardson. Big 10 Defenses are better against the rush than SEC anyway. Fuck you.
@tigerblood1993 Is that your biased, uneducated Auburn self talking? Or are you mad that the best runningback in the country reeled off 200 yards against youre mediocre defense. That D makes the SEC look bad. Were the conference with the best defenses! Dont you know that?
@GriffinMcCarley how u two stop arguing over stupid shit plz. trent richardson and both montee ball, and Joseph randle are the bet runningbacks soon i'll be becaue i'm 4'8 in he 7th grade with more 2,500 yds and more than 8 touchdowns. so shut up maybe u guys could too
Such a shame he's so far down in the balloting, he put up better numbers vs Penn State than the 'frontrunner' Richardson did vs the same defense. Not to mention he has better numbers across the board than Richardson. (Note: Ball didn't play any 6 of the teams 4th quarters)
