He talks about the difference between material existence and life that transcends that. If you don't believe life is greater than material existence, then it will make no sense and seem filled with contradictions. But anyone spiritual must refer to a transcendent life - that's the gig.

Most of these statements are metaphysical, the meaning is that pure consciousness creates the universe, and that you are part of that creation. If someone has the guts to say it, and do his best to live up to it, people who want to believe in less will argue. But it does not benefit you or anyone else to think like that. Don't be too literal about things beyond what's literal.
