I think that, although the same song, Black Flag and A Perfect Circle are vastly different. I think the main points are that the Black Flag version deals with anger at feeling alienated and from doing drugs, and A Perfect Circle version is the empty, depressing feeling that comes afterwards. Both are really cool versions.

Well first off in my opinion he most definitely is very innovative but what you're not seeing because you are obviously badly informed is this song does not represent his innovated nature. Why you ask?
1. APC was Maynards "Pop" band. It was his attempt to make a major band in a much more consumable manor.
2. This is not a song written by Maynard nor any other member of APC. It is a cover of an old Black Flag song.... (Not the most talented however awesome they were)
