  • Wow :*

  • simply the best

  • This is great! Thanks for posting

  • man this is one of my favorite bread songs

  • chiku

  • Very much a favorite Bread song for me. Love the funky chord structure and vocals build to a climax at the end. I guess, in some respects, this song is very sexy...

  • Shame there's no any 70's concert of this great band on dvd. i know they played in the OGWT BBC tv show but who knows when will be available on dvd ?

  • i never heard them live b4.. thanks!!! luved it!!!!!

  • My favorite part of this song is "take me just the way I am" because if she really loves him she wouldn't want to completely change him. If I were the woman in this song I would be like I'll take you just the way you are. Also like the come on, come on closer now... part; very tempting.

  • I love all the picures.I'm confused though about the 2nd picture, I cant tell for sure which one is James and which is David. Can anyone tell me? Also, I really like the picture at about 2:35, Griffin looks amazingly hot. Its funny that I never noticed till just recently, must've been blind.

  • Azahora22, in the second picture, James is second from the right, and David is on the far left. Thanks for your comments!

  • This shows a raw rockin other side of Bread that I didn't know existed!! Thanks so much for this Awesome Post!!!!

  • Thursday, Larry Knechtel passed away last Thursday of a possible heart attack.

Only David Gates and Robb Royer remain.

  • Unfortunately, we lost James Griffin to cancer on January 11, 2005. Jimmy was an amazing singer and rhythm guitarist. I loved his songs because they rocked! I highly recommend all of his songs with Bread, and his solo recordings "James Griffin" and "Breakin' Up Is Easy". He also recorded with "The Remingtons", "Griffin & Sylvester" and "Black Tie". His music is timeless for me. Check out the video for the song "Hanalei". It is beautiful and makes you want to go to Kauai!

  • Thank you posting this. It reminds me of a Bread Concert in Wheeling Wva. One of the best concerts I've every been to. Hope they tour again someday. I'd see them in a heartbeat !

  • Griffin's got it going big time. Wow.

  • Awesome video. Thanks for posting. Now I know another side of Bread. Very different. Griffin is sexier than heck. Ouch! What a voice. God damn. If this song came out today, he'd be one heck of a sex idol in rock and roll.

  • Yes. :)

  • Hardcore Bread fan. Thanks for posting. If Griffin was young now, and had that same voice, style, and talent, he'd be one heck of a success on his own. After listening to this video I'm astounded at the band's other sound. Simply beautiful -- -- not to mention sexier than hell.

  • Thank you so much for the comments. I believe you are absolutely correct. Griffin was Bread's hidden gem.

  • By the time Bread came around, all members were veterans of the studio scene. David Gates AKA Del Ashley, arranged, wrote and produced an amazing amount of records, and most of them were brilliant. This live stuff is so nice to hear. People mostly didn't like Bread because they seemed to be money grubbing opportunists.

  • BrEAD got the genuine art of music... if ever they are money grubbing opportunist, then they deserve big amounts... their music talent is worth paying...

  • Yes, I know exactly what you mean, teenonator. So many people, I've realised over the years, have never given bread a chance because they automatically associate it with the sweet love songs and hit singles that David Gates wrote and sang, not realising at all that there is another side and another sound to bread - namely, James Griffin, who had an edgier sound and style. Many people are really surprised when they find out it's bread on songs like this or 'Don't Tell Me No'' or 'Fancy Dancer.'

  • Oh ... my...heavens! Fran, thank you so much for posting all these fantastic live tracks. I've only ever heard this done live when I myself saw bread way back when, so this for me is absolutely brilliant to hear again, live. Jimmy had an amazing voice - so much harder and sexier and rocking. Do you have 'Could I?' or 'Friends and Lovers' by any chance? June in Ireland (a life-long Griffin fan)

  • You're so very welcome, but I think you have me confused with someone named Fran. I agree with you that Jimmy had a sexier, rocking voice...a better, richer voice no matter how you look at it, whether he was singing driving rock or ballads. His voice was always one that could melt ears.

  • Oops! Sorry 'bout that! Someone had e-mailed me and said that Fran (Hart) had a channel devoted to Jimmy and bread, and so I just assumed it was LiteofYourMind that was Fran's. I feel silly now, but I trust you don't mind my being a bit confused. Yes - a perfect way to describe his voice. It melted my heart, too - even the harder stuff (which did ... ahem...other things to me, LOL!) but of course, specifically the way he did ballads. Tender and evocative, but not mushy or syrupy

  • I know exactly what you mean about Jimmy's voice. I couldn't agree more. And no, I don't mind your confusion about the channels at all. It must be k1fjh's channel that someone emailed you about. Thank you for all your great comments!

  • I used to play cuts from this LP on my radio show, & I'd never say who it was, so people wouldn't close their minds, & see that Bread wasn't just easy listening

  • Fran Hart has posted many video's of Jimmy Griffin. In May of 2008 there was a Bread Fan Reunion in Nashville, TN. Jimmy's oldest son, Jamey performed at the reunion and Fran has posted video's of that. If you will search Jimmy Griffin or Jamey Griffin you will find Fran's postings.

  • This Song rocks!

    Unlike other new rock songs..

  • ohhhhh i loveeeeeeeee this song!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks again!!!! :-)
