  • I am going to marry my lovely Welshman next year and I would like to have this as our march down the aisle as a tribute to his, and our baby boy's heritage :)

  • My paternal grandmother was Welsh. Unfortunately she died before I was born, but I love the Welsh language and I love singing so I think I must have something of her in me. Even though I can't understand the words Welsh songs always get to me. They're so lovely. I have to sing this song in a few weeks time - in an English translation, but I might try and learn at least one verse and the chorus in Welsh.

  • Born in England.... but Bred in Wales

    Cymru Am Byth

Proud to live there. Cymru am byth!

  • Doesn't this song just make you proud of your country and proud to be in it! proud to play for your towns rugby team and proud to have a welsh rugby team! Wales!

  • The lyrics for this welsh hymm were said to have been writen by Swansea-born Daniel James in the Garw Valley.

  • today is your day dad~happy birthday~i miss you so much~love you forever xxxxxxxx

  • sang this last night love this song <3

  • Chilling song of epic proportions. CYMRU AM BYTH <3

  • I don't ask for a luxurious life, the world's gold or its fine pearls, I ask for a happy heart,

an honest heart, a pure heart.

A pure heart full of goodness Is fairer than the pretty lily, None but a pure heart can sing,

Sing in the day, sing in the night.

  • @NiaJustNia

If I wished for worldly wealth,

    It would swiftly go to seed;

The riches of a virtuous, pure heart

    Will bear eternal profit.

    (Chorus)

    Evening and morning, my wish

Rising to heaven on the wing of song

For God, for the sake of my Saviour,

To give me a pure heart

  • Dwi'n caru'r gan ma!!

  • Cymru am byth!!!!

    Cymru a Chymraeg am byth!

  • brings tears to the eyes of any welshman!

  • this was also my mum's school anthem!

  • Why even argue on the comments of a Welsh patriotic anthem? Why not delete everything in the comment box, type in "Cymru am byth, am byth fy ffrindiau!" And hit post? Because that's what you're thinking listening to this.

Fy gwlad ydy fy nheulu; fy ffrindiau; fy cariad!

  • maen doniol pam bydd pobl yn deud "i'm welsh" ac eto tydi nhw methu siarad y iaith

  • @BooMers232 i have to disagree........if someone says I am welsh is trying to relearn to welsh then who are you to say they are not..( you forget the huge cultural loss since 1800s...we are born as a legacy of the anglicisation).................its those that pretend to be welsh and yet scorn the language at the same time should be laughed at

  • This should be our national anthem.

  • @R0undAboutMidnight Absolutley not !!! Theres nothing wrong with our national anthem :S

  • Aren't you lot are proud (if you are welsh) to be a welsh person/speaker? =)

  • cymru am byth!!! x

  • WALES - what a proud country, i myself being welsh get that amazing tingle throughout my body when i here those thousands of welsh rugby fans sing such a gracefull yet unforgettable tune: hen flad fn hadau and this song calon lan is right up there with it along with: bread of heaven, cwm rhondda, sospan fach and men of harlech.

  • This Makes me Proud to be Welsh :-)

  • No one can sing this like us Welshies :)

    Wales till i die!

  • No one can sing like the Welsh people, every time I watch Wales play rugby the crowd singing the Welsh National anthem, brings tears to my eyes. The whole stadium just comes alive. I have the privalage to be married to a Welsh Lass! I am one lucky Lad. Calon Lan, the Welsh National Anthem and Scotland the Brave are for me the three most moving song ever!

  • un o fy hoff ganeunon cymraeg :)

  • proud 2 be welsh :D

  • wonderful tempo..... great clip, like hearing it for the first time. I love this!

  • I'm a Jones and very proud on my welsh roots!!

  • Recently moved to Canada from Neath, South Wales. This song brings a tear to my eye and an ache in my heart...............Wales forever...............

  • @herdy09 Me too! You found a good country to come to. Welcome.

You can hear a lot of Welsh songs and singers on YouTube. As in Wales there are few or no problems between different ethnicities. You will m iss the inging room in the local. Were there such in Nwath. Dw'n dod o Aberystwyth. Aled

  • too fast without passion but still magic.

  • @joeyjones12 I disagree - this song, like the national anthem, has been sung a bit like a dirge far too often.

  • Agreed, been looking for a slower version but no luck so far. Want to make one with me?

  • Rydin ni yn griw balch. Dwi mor falch i fod yn Cymraeg

Hope this came out okay. Not using welsh since leaving school tarnishes my memorysomewhat.

  • calon lan (Y)

  • cool

  • Prode to be Welsh, defanatly Prode :)

  • ahh used to sing it in primary

    brings back so many memories

  • Love Wales. Can't wait to move to Wales after I graduate. :)))

  • im proud to be welsh :) i used to sing this in primary school xD

  • Wales is the Land of song. So beautiful. Can't wait to move to Wales after I graduate. Welsh girls are awesome.

  • @BadBoy1968 'Welsh girls are awesome' .. Thanks for the compliment ;o lol just kidding ^^

  • @LutakiariariFelicity - they really are. Can't wait to move to Wales after I graduate. :)

  • @BadBoy1968 lol and i cant wait to get out of here, to the US!

  • @LutakiariariFelicity

Stay there I have been here in the US 20 years

  • @aemckechnie

I was born and bred in Swansea

  • Not a patch on Flower Of Scotland. The Scots have a long history of resistance to English rule, the Welsh cannot say the same.

Who's your Bonnie Prince Charlie?, who's your Robert the Bruce?, who's your William Wallace?

Some would say the Welsh are more English than the English themselves. Not me mind you, but I can see where they are coming from.

Don't just fire out mindless abuse, challenge me, prove me wrong.

  • @dripsey3 Um... Owain Glyndwr, Owain Lawgoch, Rhodri Mawr, Llywelyn Ein Llyw Olaf. William Wallace was of Cambro-Norman descent.

The Welsh are the original British people, with Lloegr (Welsh for England) meaning lost lands. Y Gododdin was written by Aneirin in what is now southern Scotland and Welsh.

This song is a hymn about being pure at heart, not about being anti-English. It has nothing to do with nationalism.

  • @dripsey3 Wales and Scotland cannot really be compared. I've lived in both countries. Scotland has a stronger civic society than Wales and national identity is based on certain institutions (education, banks etc) and is more uniform due to lower levels of English migration. Culturally, it isn't as distinct as Wales where we still speak our language and are generally more shy, friendly and egalitarian... you don't see many posh arrogant Welshmen! Ireland ticks both boxes

  • Welsh living in Texas! my favourite song! miss rugby, songs and sausages!!!!

  • I had to sing a suprano solo of this at the eisteddfodd!

  • wales a nation full of life and song, ymlaen cymru!!.the name wales is a germanic/saxon name which means foreinger in old english.funny thing is we the celts where here before them!!

  • The Welsh have always been wonderful singers and this is a stirring song...and that,s from an Englishman !!

  • I want this on my ipod

  • Dw in casau cymru, ond hoffi siarad yr iaith

  • If I could fly, this would be the theme! :)

  • Am english but think this song is brilliant. If only twickenham sounded like this-not just swing low sweet chariot!

  • my dad was welsh til last week.now he's joined the great welsh choir in the sky.

    i've done a video for him..check out gypwin...cheers

  • @gypwin im so sorry for your lose. im sure he would be proud yooh made a video for him in such a beautiful language. im american and i wish we speak this beautiful language over here! god bless♥

  • sends shivers through my spine every time

  • I am an American and was introduced to this inspiring melody as it appears at the beginning of one of the finest motion pictures ever made: How Green as My Valley, which won numerous Academy Awards in 1941, including Best Picture. If you have not already seen it, do so. It is a magnificent film that depicts the joys, hardships, and strength of the mining families.

  • Which choir sang this?

  • pob lwc yn y gem heddiw bois! cymro alltud yn yr alban x

  • Dw i'n caru Cymru!!! Dw i'n dod o'r Almaen ond dw i'n caru'r iaith, gwlad, a phobl o Gymru.

Dysgwch yr iaith - dw i'n ei dysgu hi hefyd!

Dymuniadau gorau a Chymru am byth o'r Almaen i 'r pobl a'r hanes o Gymru!

  • I love this song, and its sung amazingly here, Cymry am Byth |!

  • You can obviously hear but unfortunately not see. Tough luck.

  • None can sing like the Welsh.

    Long life to Wales!

  • @whatsupee i agree i am welsh to Nid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus, Aur y byd na'i berlau mân: Gofyn wyf am galon hapus, Calon onest, calon lân. Calon lân yn llawn daioni, Tecach yw na'r lili dlos: Dim ond calon lân all ganu Canu'r dydd a chanu'r nos. Pe dymunwn olud bydol, Hedyn buan ganddo sydd; Golud calon lân, rinweddol, Yn dwyn bythol elw fydd. Hwyr a bore fy nymuniad Gwyd i'r nef ar adain cân Ar i Dduw, er mwyn fy Ngheidwad, Roddi i mi galon lân.

  • @chris2138 Totally Agree !

  • @chris2138 approx 6/8ths lol

  • @chris2138 approx 6/8ths lol quite a bit i recxkon, iven if i was brought6 up in lankyshire

  • @chris2138 It is above all a Christian hymn - one of the greatest.

  • @drhalsall which in turn was stolen n incorporated into christianity as were lots of pagan symbology myths legends and other "esoteric stuff" .

  • CYMRU AM BYTH!!!!

  • to add to my last comment.

please do not subscribe to this author as this is only a way to get you to subscribe to him.

if you want to hear this hymn sung better,

look up treorchy male choir or morriston male choir or indeed many other welsh choirs.

    diolch.

  • as a true welshman,i have to say this is no way a national rugby team song.

but a true welsh hymn, with only the chorus normaly sung at rugby internationals.

you would sadly find that most of the crowd at an international would not even know the first verse.

  • zzahier! It seems like whenever I am looking for some kind of anthem, you have already posted something! Three cheers for zzahier!

  • sang this at eisteddfod :)

  • Sang this At Eisteddfod :)

  • Pe dymunwn olud bydol,

    Hedyn buan ganddo sydd;

    Golud calon lân, rinweddol,

    Yn dwyn bythol elw fydd.

    Hwyr a bore fy nymuniad

Gwyd i'r nef ar edyn cân

Ar i Dduw, er mwyn fy Ngheidwad,

    Roddi i mi galon lân.

  • Don't even bother looking at the English translation - it doesn't do the lyrics justice as it's been tailored to make it rhyme at the relevant parts. My ancestors wrote this song - Learn Welsh to fully appreciate it!

  • Nid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus,

Aur y byd na'i berlau mân:

    Gofyn wyf am galon hapus,

    Calon onest, calon lân.

    Cytgan:

    Calon lân yn llawn daioni,

    Tecach yw na'r lili dlos:

Dim ond calon lân all ganu-

    Canu'r dydd a chanu'r nos.

TYPE: righttobewelsh into google, search or use 'I am feeling lucky' button

    Spread the word; Peace/Heddwch

  • I didn't even know there was a Welsh language until recently. It a pretty cool sounding language though I hope it doesn't go extinct as many Welsh can even speak it, especially the 'new Welsh' (immigrants).
