  • This is great, I just started listening and already love it! Come back to Wolfville Jimmy!!!!

  • groovy babby groovy

  • jimmy needs a black magic woman...

  • jimmy needs a black madic woman...

  • soooo goodddd!

  • add drums and a bass and you're in groove city

  • I feel the urge to tell people about this.

  • Good performance ))

  • j'adoooooore ! quelle énergie ! une musique de rêve qui donne la pêche, bravo !

  • Country funk jazz . Yes please.

  • This is so creative.

    Cool idea and great sound!

  • STAR WARS!

  • strange but goed bluezzzzzzzz :)

  • @113076190 Actually this sounds more like jazz to me ..?

  • @Powapowago actually it's a mix of jazz AND blues...the solos that he does are more reformed in to the blues scale but the horns give it a jazz sense :)

  • Oh man, Im diggin the funkyness of this song.

  • Sweet art an sweet passion, yours.

Thanks, carin a share this beautiful.

  • still wondering how he equiped the slide that fast...... lol

  • hehe i knew he was gay, nice jam jimmy hehehe, keep it this way

  • I love the gay comment..... you ever seen his partner? Probably one of the hottest ladies in all of sweden and at one time one of their biggest pop stars Anna Sahlene. After seeing her pictures... I am sure you would retract the gay comment.

He is a living legend... most people that post negative comments on these videos are more than likely the farthest thing from talented guitar players. More like world of warcraft in your moms basement. Post that on youtube....see what the feedback is?

  • to IanPittsGuitar: They didn't record the audio with what you see. This is a video to a studio recording. There are a few clues throughout. So each player probably had their one take with edits along with their scratch track.

  • @zerram I know, I was a recording student in college and seeing the video and hearing the music just kinda made me wonder. Ya know :-)

  • OK, I thought this was going to be a little hokie... and it is... but its incredible...!!

  • The Steffen Shackinger of acoustic guitar?

  • Through this video, a prodigious degree of awesomeness has been achieved.

  • this is REDICULOUSLY awsome!!! (I know i can't spell :-P ) i'm kinda curious though, I wonder how many takes this took. Mr. Wahlsteen being as esteemed a studio musician and well the horn players...enough said :-)

  • OW is he swedish? creds to us i guess. LOL

  • this is brilliant. nothing else.

  • brilliant! ROCK ON JIMMY! WOOoooAHOOoooOOA!!!

  • wow

  • @DevoShreds And how would you know that? Have you talked to him? Please don't judge people only by their looks.

  • yep

  • This is actually the same exact track from the album. A music video again Jimmy?

I love your unplugged stuff, but why upload the studio version on Youtube, when every other artist has an unplugged live version on Youtube to compliment their studio album versions?

  • @rapidfire21 Go to one of his shows sometime. You'll be able to enjoy the solo version. No harm in doing a music video! If the rockers can do it, why can't guitar players? :)

  • Actually, thats very true. I will keep an eye out on tour dates perhaps :)

Thanks and keep up the good music!

  • Yeaahhh! So cool!!! :)))))))

  • yeah, he's a gas!

  • im digging this a lot. loving the horns. i want this blaring when i walk into class every day. haha!

  • I just wanna say that I think Jimmy is doing some of the most innovative new music I've heard in years. He's a master craftsman, and he tries to do something adventurous every once in a while, like multitracking, arranging for strings and horns, and then some straight ahead guitar solos. Variety is a GOOD thing! Thanks very much for the music, Jimmy! You rock. Oh, and I like your videos...AND your clothes! XD

  • @gobyfishmusic i want his jacket!

  • @gobyfishmusic ditto...and everything you wrote!

  • @gobyfishmusic Did Jimmy really arrange for those horns? I thought they wrote it after hearing his part on guitar. That just ups my respect for him even more! :)

  • @gobyfishmusic straight up don I remember my grandpa showing your music to me 10 years ago when I was 10 and he said the same thing about you ;) and I agree hes a swedish jewel

  • awesoooome pick me up for a late night!!

  • Thats a wicked sounding combo

  • rpoland is losing that "home made" videos style... this guy is good but, it's another professional video now... whatever... bad retention marketing.

  • who cares what the video pertains. Music is always about music.

You could turn off your monitor when you listen to it, or minimize the page, and it will feel authentic. The pulls that we all have towards music will still be there.

  • People aren't that smart.

  • This is awesome!!!!

  • great music video, kinda wierd but thats what you get with candyrat. Very original

  • I love how betweeen 1:32 and 1:34 he magically put on his slide in less then a second..?

  • You should have also noticed then that theres a guitar track backing him at that part. This seems more like a music video that was pre recorded.

  • @kman155623 right man

  • @kman155623 uh, it was recording later (playin with a slide)

    u hear 2 guitars then :)

  • this isn't twitter

  • Comment removed

  • Someone find out the music for this.

  • thats one big ass saxophone! this rocks!

  • Called a Baritone Sax. Best instrument evar.

  • have you seen the contra bass sax?

  • sry, not a expert. i'm more on the drums... :D

  • It´s great. Yeh, you ´ve got it. That´s fantastic.

  • Nice!

  • I love it!!

  • That is sooooooooooo awesome ...

  • Oh how I love me some Jimmy Wahlsteen

  • i know right!? he is awesome

  • Opinions are like noses (for not saying something different)... everybody has one! For Pete's Sake! Enjoy the music! It's all there is to this!! These guys are musicians! They are supposed to act the way they do while they play!

    AND THE BEAT GOES ON...!

  • wow, cool !!

  • fabio capelo on the sax

  • @magicmmmmm

    hahahah great spot

  • I'm not a big of a fan of brass/ acoustic guitar combo but I can definitely see how folks can get into this. I admire Wahlsteen's creativity.

  • Very nice! I enjoyed this a lot. Just plain old fun here and the instrumentation was clever. Thanks for sharing the groovy little trip!

  • I'm having a hard time liking the music while watching the video. I don't know the guy personally (obviously), but it feels like he thinks he's a great musician. Of course that's just an observation I've watched all his videos and I get the same feeling with every one of them. So the arrogance I'm receiving (while he might not be sending it) makes me not have the respect for the music it potentially deserves.

  • I completely agree.

  • @bramvano

To me, it seems he's just getting into the music. I can kind of see why it seems like arrogance, but i think he's just happy to be playing guitar.

  • Maybe, but then I don't get how he finds the time (in his concentrated state of mind) to look into the camera the whole time like he is looking in the mirror. It just doesn't seem likely.

  • @bramvano Oh brother.

  • Don't forget, this guy is foreign, and practically a superstar in Sweden as a featured guitarist or a touring guitarist for other performers or just as a studio guitarist. Bare in mind these videos are probably more directed to his Swedish audience, his home country audience.

  • @IneptSoul8907

sry to say this, but jimmy wahlsteen isnt rly famous in Sweden yet. So far, I think that his main audience are guitar players and those who are into music. Well, that's just a theory though :P

  • awesome!

  • very unusual sound - just acoustic guitar with (perfect) brass section!

funky & jazzy - this is just what i failed to hear from candyrat. thanks for the fresh wind!

  • im not impressed

  • Stupid fools and their stupid low IQ comments. Why don't you just listen to the music?? Whether or not your 'Impressed' makes no difference to

anyone else. Who cares if you're not!!!!

  • Apparantly you do.

  • heh... there is just something about this guys face... that makes me wanna hit him... heh... anyways... some pretty good stuff...

  • Swingy Jimmy! I'm a fan of yours!

    Cheers from Brazil!

  • Slightly Jazzy this time around :-)

  • Not my kind of genre I must admit, but still can't help but admire the talent.

  • awesome

  • I really enjoy how Jimmy is able to keep the rhythm on those complicated fingerstyle melodies. Also, the title of this song really fits this song well

    Keep it up!

  • I like it. But I think it's too bad that the horns and the whole 'video-clip thing' goes at the cost of the pureness we're used from candyrat. But as I said, a good tune indeed.

  • not a fan of this guy, iom sorry

  • why are you sorry?

  • Great combination!!... Never heard something like this before... Cool

  • Again, a song that wasnt played 100% live...

This is great music, but it would truelly become a fantastic peice if it just was played live and incorperated more instruments and a wider variety of sounds. I was craving for a bassline, and it just felt a *little* but hollow.

  • i don't think it's boring...but i'm not sure i understand the appeal. i love jimmy's work and i'm glad he's branching out i guess :)

  • Good god this is cool :D

    Well done :)

  • A bit of a Tower of Power thing goin on, which aint at all bad. Good groove. Original approach to the acoustic world . Well done 5*****

    Peter

  • cool song, but 100% live is cooler ;o) (2nd guitar...)

  • Excellent horn section. Guitar playing is pretty good but somehow doesn't fit with horns and is kind of boring.

  • Excellent horn section...? You mean excellent midi with soundfonts on top.. Especially with the triplets, or the vibrato on a long note, you can hear that this is not a real brass sound from the trumpet. Not my taste, I would have gone with live players. It's a catchy compostition though.

  • Sono d'accordo!!!! Poor music and fake performance

  • +1 From the first note the brass played I was like... No.

  • @Juuuuuul Yer dead wrong. They're a group of session horn players from Sweden: sessionhorns (dot) com

Guess they're just so good that hey sound fake! Haha!

  • I truly apologize. I listened to the audio samples on their website. They really sound like a keyboard brass section... :-|

  • He he, I just wanna second what Don is saying here. I mixed the entire album. There´s no midi here!! These are real players playing their shit. Nothing else. Later/O

  • I have to say that this was awsome, and I love his music! But he looks a little gay :3

  • agree.. especially the last thing

  • Comment removed

  • tool

  • its a good piece, though its definately hollow, needs a bassist drummer and im usually opposed to the idea, but i think vocals would compliment the song nicely

theres just nothing holding the music together, it almost makes it seem sporadic and empty

  • Very true, it's definitely hard to act as the "backup" for the brass musicians with only a guitar as the instrument. This track is somewhat experimental, but i don't quite get 'the mood' of it... throw in a whole big band behind this and sh*t will flow like oysters on spaghetti(?!), Jimmy!

  • You stole the words from my mouth. Or should I say keyboard? 0_o Regardless, I was totally hearing a drummer, bassist, another rhythm guitarist and maybe a flute and clarinet...and maybe some heavy-set scat singer! Either way, this video is enjoyable.

  • Did you notice the title of the piece?

    "The Urge to Gossip"

Gossip is sporadic and mostly empty claims, it's a direct reflection of what he titled the piece. And though vocals may explain that better, it also takes away from your chance to build a mental picture. It would take away the chance to put your own words in to describe it. Bass and drums would have given it a nice, "rounder" or "fuller" sound, and when I listen to this sometimes I hear them in my head, but as it stands, great piece.

  • nice explanation. gossip sounds fantastic when you first hear it, like this song too :O

  • i like jimmy wahisteen but i'm tired of only getting vids from him ... play something new rpoland please

  • Hey there. Jimmy's made lots of vids and he has a new record out, that's why there are so many of his vids up now. CandyRat uploads tons of stuff, most of it wonderful!

  • i said i like him and i'm subscribed i get all the vids they release... and the last 3 in a row have been his and the last 12 give or take have only been interrupted by 2 or three i like him just subscribed to hear various artists... don't like hearing same artist over and over... ... and yes most there stuff is wonderful? why would i subscribe if i didn't like it?

  • great production value

  • Videos like this why i stay subscribed

  • Very good. Love those horns. Good geetar player.

  • man, this guy is good, but to me his music feels like it's missing lyrics or something... I can't quite put my hand on it.

  • me too....I feel like he should have a singer for sure

  • I feel that it is missing a drummer...

  • wonderful....so happy....

  • Groovy as fuck.

  • That was pretty fun feeling, didn't really watch the video intently enough to make assumptions about him, but the song was pretty enjoyable.

  • i love you jimmy and i love your music

  • that was like sex to my ears lol

  • he really is quite douche-y in this video for playing such a simple song. you don't see Andy Mckee or Craig D'Andrea or any of the other brilliant musicians on Candyrat make a video like this. imo, that should tell you something.

  • its a music video though....

yea it was shot live but it was intentionally shot like this rather than him just sitting still.

you people are ridiculous he is just grooving

  • i wouldnt really call it simple.

  • i think it's good that someone's making videos like this instead of someone just sitting still. i mean yeah, i think mckee/andrea/dufour are more technical in their musicality, but this is good entertainment too.

  • So what we, fellow musicians, have learned today is: always appear to have less fun than you actually have when performing, certainly beware if the song doesn't involve simultaneous two-handed tapping, percussion, whistling and "testicular triangle" type of shit, with simplicity should repression and denial of ones own enjoyment always follow! Go sit by your silly little stove and keep those emotions inside, bald fatso!

  • ... A musician should always stay in touch with groove and spirit (call it what you like), wether it takes the form of tapping a foot or making constant guitar faces, it's always nice for the audience to see there's a person behind the instrument who's feeling the music. I think Jimmy looks perfectly relaxed in this video and it's a original piece of music...

  • .. though it's a bit too quirky for me, it sounds empty without some percussion or something that binds all instrument together and make it flow a little better. But it's definitely interesting! Luckily there's freedom of speech and opinion, variety in personal taste, we all have our individual sets of ears, and there's an exit button in your browser if one can't cope with all this. There should be room for constructive critiscism, but not to be confused with name calling and pure idiotism.

  • whata great music

the grooves look kinda fun to play along on drums xD

  • ...Interesting. Different, but not in the usual Candyrat way...

  • Not a big fan of this guy, but this song is very cool

  • I personally like this song very much, since it's got a lot of funky beats and grooves I enjoy as a drummer.

Groove. Jimmy's got it. He doesn't jam around like this just for show, he always plays like this. It's his way of feeling the music.

And why are all those people who think appearance isn't important in music complaining about Jimmy's appeal? I just don't get it.

If you can take a fat bald man's playing, why can't you take a Swedish "slightly fabulous" guy's playing?

  • didn't like it. like the other things he play.

  • This the first time Ive seen candyrat try to pass a video off as live when its pre-recorded. Awesome song though.

  • kinda corny.

  • very random video...

  • wow......candyrat has gone to shit.......

  • Most of the artists seem to have their own personalities which CandyRat tailors to. This guy's got mtv style flamboyance I really just cant stand. his music MIGHT be alright if I didnt have to see him.

  • Love it!!! Groooooooooooooove city :-)

  • There are two guitars in this piece, how can't you hear (and see!) that...? But..is it really such a big deal? I like his music, even there are three guitars ;)

  • it's cute, i guess. but I agree - it's not candyrat anymore.

it doesn't give me the calmness other candyrat artists do.

  • I don't know about anyone else, but I loved candyrat musicians and their videos because it seemed so honest. Just a guy, his guitar and a video camera. This just isn't the same.

  • AGREED

  • Don't like this guy. Music isn't bad...just repulsive when you watch the video though.

  • It's very good music but in 1:48 he has this glas on his finger and 1:54 there is no glas at all oO but 5*

  • it was shot in more than one piece, he did a little bit of a slide solo. which he also played rhythm in the background if you listen.

  • its a slider, man...

he simply through it away on the floor! no big deal...

  • @Svander12 Thats coz there is 2 diff guitar parts, he recorded them seperately im guessing. Alot of his music involves layering diff guitar riffs. Its not less talented btw, its just how he writes his songs. This is great jazz folk fusion. People should be less strict on candyrat! You cant blame them for trying to broaden the music they sign. I mean on a whole, and correct me if im wrong, but as a record company i think theyv signed more talent propably than sony & universal & deaf jam combined!

  • Sounds ok, but watching the vid and listening to it is like britney all over again pity its looks so fake. Is he even playing that guitar in this song?

  • they could make it a little less obvious they are miming. live sounding brass, maybe place a mic or two in front of them to build the illusion, or even just two people playing when there are two guitars in the song perhaps?

  • I agree...

There is definitely only one guitar in the song though.

  • wrong

  • I don't think so? I can't hear a second... mind you I'm a little deaf in one ear...

Candyrat hasn't gone to shit... who says that because of one song...

I'm not a huge fan of this guy myself... I'm here for Don, Antoine, Craig, Valleau and Andy. They must just be testing their limits.

  • 1:32 when the slide comes in.

I'm assuming the rest of that msg wasn't really directed toward me, but I don't think candy rat has gone to shit, but I also don't think this is their worst guy. Like some, love some, dislike others. I'm actually mostly indifferent to jimmy. Not bad, no Andy.

  • Oh yeah, definitely a second guitar there. Good call.

I can't be bothered to look for it but it was somewhere around my last post that someone said "Candyrat has gone to shit" - I totally disagree.

  • super clip super guitarist super music i think you are my favourite guitarist

  • is gay?

  • woww! great jazz players!

does anybody know the name of that trombone? I want one to!

  • Sounds really cool!...Never really heard anything like it.

  • This Jazz Band is Great!

(It's real Magic to my ears)

P.S. Of course that I've added you to my channel. [Nice to meet]

  • I didn't fancy the guitar all that much, but the horns were cool.

  • Bravo ! Love dis stille ****** Stars

  • what excellent guitar.

    horns too.

    the slide part was incredible.

hope to see more from this man.

  • horn section is great! would have thought that would mesh well with acoustic guitar like that

  • FaceBookable stuff!
