NOSTALGIA...I'm not even old enough, but this makes think about my grandparent's generation and how they had to use music to forget about the horrible things happening in this country back then. Makes me thankful that this wonderful music made a hard time livable and memorable for them..
RIGHTEOUS is the only word i can find to describe these TALENTED singers. These guys had so much style and class that they could share it with all of these no talent hacks, i.e. beiber, perry, tricky menagerie, anybody off of american idoloser
I saw the Dells in the 1970's at Howard University and they were AWESOME. I saw them again in the 2000's at the Equestrian Center in Md and they were still AWESOME. Pure talent.
I WAS A NAUGHTY GIRL WHEN THIS CAME OUT, I USED TO WALK IN A CLUB LOOK AROUND FOR THE SHARPEST CAT IN THE JOINT WITH HIS LADY, I WOULD LAY MY BEDROOM EYES ON HIM AND ONLY HIM, UNTIL HE TOOK WHO EVER SHE WAS HOME. YOUTH MAKE U DO FOOLISH THINGS, BUT IT WAS GOOD TIMES, WHEN ALL STDS WERE CURABLE LOL.
@supergoddamn WELL IF THATS WHAT U CALL IT, I DONT NO YOUR AGE BUT U R ONLY YOUNG ONCE, I MADE THE MOST OF IT, I DIDNT INTENTIONALLY BREAK UP ANYONES HOME. ONE DAY U GONE B INVISABLE TO MENS, YOUR HUSBAND CANT PERFORM NO MORE. KIDS GONE, BUT GUESS WHAT I GOT MY MUSIC AND SOME supergoddamn MEMORIES. NO REGRETS, BUT IM SURE U CANT GET THAT YET.
@Stormyrivers1 there has never been a time when ALL stds were curable. Herpes has been around 4ever. you can go into remission but you still have it & can pass it. That's y women with hx of herpes have c-sections when they have babies. Because going through the birth canal could blind the baby for life. You may havehad fun, but personally I could live without any type of crotch rot as long as I live. Believe me I'm as old or older than u.
@MsAlone4now VAGINAL WARTS WERE REMOVABLE, AIDS WEREN'T AROUND. HERPES WAS KNOWN AS SHINGLES FROM THE CHICKEN POX FAMILY AND U DAMN SURE DIDN'T GET IT BY HAVING SEX. SO LIKE I SAID, I HAD MY FUN, AND I HOPE U HAD YOURS 2. HAPPILY MARRIED NOW AND AGAIN, NO REGRETS.IT WAS THE LAST ERA OF SEX WITHOUT DYING. OH YES AND BABIES CAME THROUGH THE BIRTH CANAL JUST FINE. WE EVEN KNEW WHO THE FATHERS WERE.
@Lovethemusic: I see there seems to be three of us that remember those awesome great days with our Oldies but Goodies. The songs, the lyrics had a story to tell. The words wer audible even if the song was sad or happy. Nowadays, I'm sorry but I can't make out what some singers are saying. But, the main thing from back then was that the guys respected their girls anf visa versa. The respect snd love was told in the words of the songs.
Again, clean cut brothers, in stle for those years and singing a very special song to their girls. Listen to that harmony and all that singing. Miss you guys. This is for those people who lived those years with such marvelous singers, in the basement with a red light doing the grind or the 500 Off the wall. Play it loud and feel it.
Yes, i remember that night-- that night you got caught in the rain and could not get out those pants! Remember they started to get itchy and I had to get the scissors cause they were shrinking and then you got mad cause it costed you 12.99 from Sears and there they were-- in the trash? I remember I said it would be alright, I will get you another pair. How we laughed about that at Jerry's house playing spades Oh what a night!
I remember seeing this, in 1969, which was also the year that men landed on the moon, for the first time. The Earth view from outer space, was an obvious homage to that landing. I thought that, backing the Dells, doing their remake of "Oh, What A Night", was just the coolest thing. : )
Hey there this is brenda i loveeeeeeeeeeeeee & injoy your music you are some bad cats all do to respect! but i just love the way you perform & sing that song it's my favorite god blessyou brothers keep on doing your thing i just rock along with the music i suffer with seasures but you keep my happy listening to plus the one you made with my best girl patti! she is a beautiful angel and that voice is just allsome love you all brenda.
