I think the Laptop is very basic. Basically for internet and some word applications I think.

The catch is that you have to buy 5,000 yen per month mobile card. (You connect the card to laptop and you go mobile. I think its called ECmobile?) It's kind of like how you can get iphones for free if you sign a 2 year contract!

to get the laptop for 100 yen (less than 1 usd) you need to sign a subscription contract to use their wireless connection for 2 years..so it s not as cheap as you might think.. just like cell phone companies here in japan, you subscribe for 2 years and you get the cellphone for 1 yen (less than 1 cent).. so yeah, of course you cant get a laptop for 1 buck just like that anywhere in the world..
