Awesome bit of kit... they are the best against IEDs at the moment... better protected than LAVs and humvees. and comfortable!! aircon and heating, spacious inside, and quiet! definately lifts morale when sitting in one of these puppies!!!
This is just the Aussie version of the South African Caspir. The Caspir has been around for the last 20 years and is so good that it is still used today.
im in the australian army cadet an we just went to anogra regs base and we got to go in 1 of them after they go over 40 kmph u have to put ear protection on beuase they are that loud it stuffs u hearing it takes a crane to put on the windscreen its that heavy an they have a turret on the top of drive seat to the left a bit anf fully decked up interior they are beast up close
The british have purchased and are fielding 24 of these, France and Spain are looking into them, With France alone considering 2,000+ to be built under license, And wouldn't be surprised if the Dutch got more..
We have over a hundred of these suckers parked out at my work...They are fun to watch when they do driver training courses, but noisy as all hell. Poor guys inside have to wear ear plugs...so do the poor guys outside who have to listen to them as they drive past...lmao
these vehicles wee used for mounted patrols in Iraq and are used in Afghanistan by australia and dutch troops. They cost around half a million dolars though, they arent a replacement for land rovers. Rovers are a general service vehicle, being replaced by mercedes G-wagon. these are designed for mounted patrols and they were designed around being well armoured for that purpose. the fact that they aren't getting stuck in the 'ghan proves their reliability.
the bush master is an awsome piece of kit its all about surgical millitay action these days and the bushmaster dose that perfictly two mag 58s one on the from one at rear good de bus drills and you got an awsome method of fighting wars if you dis it youve never served in the army and should keep you cod 4 opinions to your self one of these saved a sgt from my battalions life there a good piece of kit. air con tops it off
These trucks weigh 15tn combat loaded and only have4 wheels! No wonder they only show it driving through puddles and not mud. The Bushmaster is probably one of the best of this class of armoured Winnebagos but that does notmean shit. Its a bit like saying you have built a belt fed 9mm pistol, nice but whats the point?Ive heardall the "advantages" of these trucks but armoured vehicles needto be able to fight as well as go places other than a road. The next war we fight might not involve IEDs at all
this vehicle was not built for IED's it just so happens that the mine resistance developed with its development in the 90's happens to be good against IED's
this is a troop carrier, its not like these american trucks that have armour all over them, these are developed specifically for northern Australia, which is a large long range country, this vehicle is ideal
Iknow its a good veh for driving people across Austalia and delivering them fresh and reasonably well protected. Its just that I think they need to be able to fight better and have better mobility. You say they were developed for NorthernAust, but where are they deployed? The MEAO,thats where. We have always tried to fight our wars in other counties b4 they come to Aust.If we have serious war against an emerging superpower I bet we will be scrambling to obtain a tracked veh with a big stabilised gun
your stupid psyklopz you don't know jack shit... do some research. these are the new vehicles that replaced the land rovers... they are not junk, they are one of the best type of vehicles for its role in the world. thats why the US government considered buying them...
The Aust army uses M113s and ASLAVS are the main APCs (ASLAVS are alot like the stryker), bushmasters are the aussie version of the US hummer. btw US army still uses the 10000+ M113s. as I said do some research.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
IMV is an australian term used to give this vehicle some kind of class of its own in that it will be fsater and more maneoverable than a regular APC but it isnt any better than the US Army Stryker APC.
Therefore theres no point for the US to buy this.
Its a cheaper variant of a real APC. That's all it is.
I cant beleive the U.S wont buy them off us. its more than likely they will try to re create their own version. Fuck bein in a nice squishy hummer when you get blown the hell up. I just dont understand how they can keep sending their soldiers out in hummers when they know Bushmasters exist.
they had a thing about this on that show called sunday and how the yanks have actually made there own version and how bushmaster are trying to take them to caught because they used the same designs and were going to start to sell them i mean what fucking tight asses aye mate you think they could buy a bit back of us i mean we only just went on a lovely spending spree with off those f22 and f35's aye
hummers are armor plated and have bullet proof glass. they use Hummers for desert tertian. Wide long wheel base and (relatively) lightweight keeps it from sinking in sand. That bushmaster would just get stuck in sand.
I am interested to see how a bushmaster would go in deep sand. I know they go alright running over IED's. (boat hull shaped undercaraige) and the occupants are harnesed down so they dont break their neck on the roof, gear all stowed away.
Not to mention the remote controlled turret. Do you guys still feel vulnerable with the top half of your body pokin out waitin to get shot!?
The bushmaster has a remote control tyre pressure changer so you can set it for any terrain... if the bushmaster couldn't go well in any terrain then it wouldn't be in the Australian army.
bushmaster has exceeded its armor standards for its category (STANAG 4569 level 1)
@iTeamkill thales make the bush masters and fire kings with tyre pressure controle so you can set the pressure to suit the terrian look up hawke its the new light armored car thales bought out
lol they actually have bought them off us now... they bought 2000 and the dutch bought 500 so were not doin too bad mate... plus the yanks are buying our design of the gun called the metalstorm and they are sharing our design of the F35 lightning
That Metal storm technology is f**king insane. the first time I saw that my jaw dropped so low my mouth was open wider than a sailer boy at a sausage factory. that company is based here in brisbane too, The chinese have offered 50million (then 50 afterwards) for the technology "if we knew the enemy had this type of weapon in an area, we would not go in there at all, it would be suicide"
yeah i read the dutch destroyed 6 of these things and not 1 occupant has been harmed, they really are good. 1 of the 6 actually took a RPG hit, and everyone was ok, the bushmaster was fucked tho haha

*did u know* there is a mount ontop of them that is like a xbox controller and u shoot without being in the fight
their wheels can be shot and they can still drive (pump that pumps the wheels while driving)

hidefsteve 3 years ago
they have variants with offensive/defensive weapons, some remotely controlled, so no one is outside to get harmed.

Dont forget we have defensive and offensive vehicles for the same purpose depending on the geographical locale.

It better be less quishy than the hummer since its supposed to be mine protected and have sufficient armour to stop anything up to 7.62mm.
