It seems a bit naive to say this is all just a metaphor, because this song isn't really oblique about the matter at all--this seems like a very honest song about doubt and fear, crying out to God. So yes, it is about an inner struggle, definitely, but what is at the heart of that struggle? I feel like this song is where the hearts of Christians and non-Christians should meet: in the place where we all feel doubt sometimes.

Church has become an institution that discriminates against homosexuals, turns a blind eye to sexual abuse, and everything has begun to revolve around money. You are quite right - it is not a good video. It is poorly written, structured, edited, and, of course, the quality of the camera was horrendous. In fact, I threw it all together in one day, simply because I had nothing else to do. However, this song, when I first heard it, whether it is the intention of the band or not, reminded me of my intellectual transformation into a Christian (i.e. much pondering, reading, and, as you see, walking).I am sorry for not being able to convey my thoughts well.

I don't know who TheRealMario46 is commenting towards, but having a conversation about a song that has religious references to Christianity doesn't constitute trying to get someone to believe the same way as you. that's an interesting point and i agree that with religion there will be no peace. but the majority of what you have described is of the very dangerous and extreme members of any religious group. And just an interesting fact: there have been extremist who have been aetheist as well. regardless of whether there is a God or not it has to do with whether you have hate in your heart or not.

I disagree. Without the moderates, the extremists would not exist. If you tolerate a crazy belief system, then people will always take it to the next level.
I also disagree that extremists are hateful people. I doubt that without Islam the 9/11 bombers would have ever killed anyone, many could even be nice people, they genuinely believed they were doing the right thing. Without religion the good will be good and the bad will be bad. It takes religion to make good people do bad things.

Church has become an institution that discriminates against homosexuals, turns a blind eye to sexual abuse, and everything has begun to revolve around money. I do believe in god, but I think he would be disgusted at what has become of the church system.
