What is stopping you from having a go at it? Airasia flights to Kota Kinabalu is so cheap these days. From there, it is about 2 - 3 hours ride by taxi, bus, etc to Kinabalu Park HQ.

Glacier went off more than 5,000 years ago. 1970 is way too recent :-).

I reached Low's Peak (4095.2m) through normal summit trail. Amazing & unforgettable trip. It is spectacular at the plateau of the mountain top.

My husband and I have just completed the Via Ferrrata on Mt Kinabalu and it was the most AWESOME experience of our lives!! It is the most AMAZING and inspirational place.

wow this is awesome! i lived in kk for years, climbed this mountain when i was 10yrs old. going back in a couple days, might well be doing this and some sport climbing!!!

Right now, there are no glaciers on top. Only rocks. But, 10,000 years ago, there was a glacier.

It is much higher than any via ferrata routes in the french alps ... and you get great views of the lowlands below - nearly 3000m below. Some parts get about 600m of air underneath you ;-).
