Another question here: was looking at some jeans, Levis 501. Problem is I don't know which color..the ones I saw were the "rigid dark gray". looked online and the other closest one to your description was "Rinse". Amazon has a quicklist of the color options. Is there a particular shade you have in mind? Thanks.
@MikatProductions I don't know what Levi's color options are off the top of my head, but anything dark and distinctly not "regular ol' blue jean blue" is a good first step! Deep indigo or blue-grays are my choice for casual wear, especially with a sports jacket.
hey antonio, i have questions regarding body size. i have very long limbs(ectomoprhs), and i have very hard time finding cloths that fits me.
i have a athletic body type, so whenever i buy clothings, the seleeves and shirt is too short while other parts such as chest and arms fits perfectly. im in my mid 20s
Great advice. I've seen a lot of videos and heard you say a lot about the need for "good fit", but I haven't seen you discuss what actually constitutes a good fit. It only seems to be left assumed and never specifically addressed by stating how a shirt or pair of slacks should fit each region (shoulders, waist, how much 'mobility' etc). Have I overlooked some videos? Appreciate any resources, insights you can give. Thanks.
@MikatProductions I think one of our very first was about fit. But I would like to make another one some time soon that zooms in on each point (shoulders, cuffs, trouser break, etc.) as we discuss them, to give a better and more precise understanding of fit. Thanks for reminding me!
@MikatProductions Awesome -- and thanks again for the suggestion. I do want us to do one with more close-up visual examples. You can find some articles on RealMenRealStyle (dot com) or over at the Style Guide on ATailoredSuit (dot com).
@MC1796 Slacks or corduroys instead of jeans and collared shirts is a great start -- we've also got some videos here on the channel specifically for young men than you might want to check out. I've know we've done three or four at this point, but YouTube comments won't let us link directly.
As a young man growing up my hairs always been kind of long and messy and I was wondering what type of hairstyles allow a man to have a casual look on a day to day basis but also professional when needed. I am subscribed so if you could answer this question soon that would be great thank you for your time.
Meh, I am a color-wheel guy. I have shirts of different colors, and I confess, I love to wear sneakers with Jeans. There is something that says "Yes I abide, but I am my own man" about that look.
@DNYAP Glad you're thinking about the color wheel! We did a couple articles on its role in fashion for RealMenRealStyle during its early days, and I still check back to them from time to time myself.
@vonggg Yes. A gray-scale or black-and-white outfit is fine, just stylized. It's a little flashy for business settings but it's a common look in the music business or other more "out there" cultures. Time for a video about wearing black suits well, I'm thinking! :)
I am an eccentric high school student who loves to wear a dress shirt and a tie to school almost everyday. I have a question about dress pants, I want to get dress pants that are tight, not skinny jeans tight but really slim because I HATE baggy dress pants. I want to know is the only way for you to get tight fitted dress pants to get it tailored? or are there different types of dress pants? Thank you for the 9 tips :) I was already doing all 9 of them before watching your video but still great!
@TommieXDee Tailoring certainly helps guarantee a good fit, but a lot of the time you just have to shop around until you find a brand with a fit that you like. Helps to know your proper waist and inseam measurements when you shop, of course.
@SuperFarmerThanMan "Unwashed" there means that it hasn't been machine-treated to fix the dyes before sale, not that it's dirty :) Easy to see what you were thinking, though, and we certainly hope people are keeping their unwashed denim clean and presentable too!
@jreily88 I feel like we did a jeans video, but I'm going to have to kick around the archives a bit to see if I can find it. Raw denim may be worth its own video project, though, now that you suggest it -- thanks!
i liked your advice and delivery style -very good to watch with good content. I would have liked to see examples (stills in the video) of the garments you were talking about.
I think there is one thing missing from the basic shirts. A black one. I think black shirts always look very good and they have a little more sex in them than lightcoloured shirts.
what great advice... im 15 and really just dress the above average (gotta wear pastels nd khakis to school - private) but this vid really sent its message and helped me out a lot. thanks realmenrealstyle person
@usnscc830 School dress codes for younger men looking to dress well could make an interesting idea! I'll see if we can get something put together soon. Thanks for commenting here!
@iteslabot Those are two different sorts of collared shirts for two different situations -- we'll add a piece on long-sleeve, button front dress shirts vs. short-sleeve, V-neck polos to the project queue!
thanks for the video; what kinda shoes do ur ecommend? i feel like u can't always wear formal, black leather, shoes in informal settings even if they go w denim or jeans. but at the same time it's not good to wear tennis shoes. what's left? skating shoes? what's a good type of shoes that fits in the middle?
@ganstadogg69 Sir, I do believe that you are-from a technical standpoint-hating. While I wholeheartedly agree that the advice here is golden, you should not say that a homosexual man is less of a man than a straight man. That's just discriminatory.
I can tell you enjoy what you do, and I love the way you give advice. For once I feel like I'm actually being given advice from an advice video, and not being forced to accept someone else's opinions.
I'm current a senior in university. Your video just opened up a new horizon for me. It's true that the transition from boy to men is tough; not every boys have an understanding father who can show them the men's dress-code. I sincerely thank you. My transition starts now!
@RealMenRealStyle This is an Awesome video. Agreed. I'm trying to expand on my wardrobe as I'm moving into my mid-twenties now and still see guys wearing baseball caps with no hair gel and running shoes with jeans. And...then they wonder why they can't attract women. Well these tips are great and the presenter has Awesome style, really good looking dude giving good tips. Thank you.
