hey, quirc. i'm a novice 3-D modeler and i don't have Photoshop. Do you know of some way i can get a discount on Photoshop CS5? I don't necessarily mean that the program has to be cracked or hacked or anything but i just need the best deal because i can't really afford these products. So please, if you have some form of info that you can lend me me i'd greatly appreciate it! Just send me some sort of private message or public i don't really care. Thanks again and hope to hear of you soon!
can zbrush replace maya in modeling a character? can we model a character in brush that have all correct edge flow? do professional artist start to create a model in maya or zbrush? I think you get what I want to ask :)
Help me man, when i import a picture its very big ad i cant move it, when i change it to fixed it stays in the middle and follows my camera!! i tried everything evn reinstall help
about the orthographic shots, is zero perspective distortion possible? How far should the photographer be and what are the settings on the camera lens?
@blueelohim1 Zero perspective distortion is not possible with a standard camera, but you can get close enough for practical work. There's no exact setting or lens that I can tell you other than just get as far away from the subject as possible and zoom in as close as possible. This is for the ortho shots. For the 3/4 shots, you want to be closer, like 3-5 feet away. I hope this helps!
hola amigo soy nuevo en esto y quiero plantearte un problema que se me presento cuando intento centrar la imagen no logro mover el modelo si no que lo muevo todo osea el modelo y la malla como hago para solo mover el plano por favor ayudame gracias
Thank you for this video. Even after watching the Lynda videos and read multiple tutorials online I couldn't find a decent explanation of what the best way to set up photos for a reference. This really nailed the issue on the head, and if I'd found it two days earlier it would have saved me hours of hit and miss. I'm looking forward to your "Modeling a human head" which again, is a big step ahead of even the paid for tutorials. You should put all of these on a disk and sell them.
I'm having trouble. When I import my image, I put it on the front view screen. I then switch it so it's not a fixed image, because when I do, every time the image is moved in front of the camera ( which for some reason imports in with it ) you cannot see it on the front view window. So I tried making it attached to the camera. I then was able to see the picture because the camera wasn't screwed up. But then when I zoom in and out on my front window, it just makes the pic bigger and smaller!
am an amateur 3d modeler in australia. out of college jus then. how to get job as a starter... can any one reply and suggest me a view. am so stuck with the economy like this.
i had the exact same problem that you had. this is because the resolution of your photographs are really high and 3ds max can't show them at such a high resolution that it makes the images blurred like they've been zoomed out to a great extent.
suppose your image size is 2048x2048, resize your image to something much smaller like 512x512 in photoshop (uniformly) and then use it in 3ds max and everything will be A-OK
great tut again ryan, very helpfull!! ty and keep it up
