  • wow..congrats on a tremendous job

  • @MrByaeger Yes, tremendous!

  • @BurtonRichardson Hey Burton they are lucky to be able to train with and learn from someone like you i wish i could.

  • @TheShinobi32

Thank you. I am fortunate to have such great students to work with.

  • @BurtonRichardson Hey happy new year.

  • Well done from the Badat's from England!

  • @ever1ast Thank you!

  • Burton, I stumbled on this video hoping to see a JKD defense of a "double leg takedown", which MMA types claim is not defensible by intellectual martial arts. In your opinion, how would Bruce Lee or another JKD person defend against a "double leg takedown"? Shouldn't you step to the side, thereby forcing the person to concentrate on only one leg, so that you can defeat the grip on that leg and/or strike the person? I did tae kwon do in high school and that's one of the better ideas I had on it.

  • @neutrino78x Much of the time the most effective thing would be to sprawl, then drop on top of them. You could always go with their motion when they are expecting you to fight it, then use their own momentum to flip them over and gain a dominant position. If you dont intend to go down at all, or play their game, a knee to the face or elbow to the head will weaken them greatly ;)

  • @neutrino78x First try to side step to get out of the path. If you are late, you need to sprawl. There are various hand positions that set up different counter attacks. If they do pick up a single leg, you can push the head down and away while striking. The key thing is that these all require A LOT of practice!

  • @neutrino78x Also Id like to add something Allot of people overlook. Stepping to the side and if they have any hair grab it for a "hair pull takedown".

  • @vamtheanomaly Yes, very effective.

  • @shulom1 Sifu Thompson is something else! He is very skilled and very tough!

  • @shulom1 Yes, I am very lucky to have her. She is an exceptional person.

  • @shulom1 Thank you, Paul and I go way, way back!

  • the head kick was the best

  • @godawar That was a great kick! - Sarah trained specifically for the test for months. She practiced the head kick at home, but never in class so nobody would expect it. Pretty sneaky!

  • @BurtonRichardson , Wow ,Thats great sifu Richardson . She must have absorb all your teaching . . to strike the opening at a blinding speed....

  • @PitchAmis They were defintely using more than 50%. Our skilled female fighters can handle unskilled guys who are bigger and stronger. The idea is to optimize the fighting skill of everyone involved.

  • Sifu Burton

Great work with your crew, they are incredible and only reflect a great teacher.

    She's a killer

    Rich (NYC)

  • She is a killer! I am very fortunate to have such dedicated students.

  • I love the footwork. It drives me crazy when I see MA practitioners that have the mobility of Frankenstein.=^) Awesome vid!

  • Very impressive. Her knife work is ridiculously fast. Her test aint easy either. Her clinch round is with Brad who is awesome at the clinch and her last round is with a BJJ purple belt who outweighs her by alot!(Shelton is a ground wizard). This shows her heart and determination in very tough situations. (Grappling with Shelton after you just did 6 rounds would not be fun for anyone). Great job Sarah.

  • I agree Sarah has a lot of heart and is very skilled. I love watching Burton's students in action. He creates good martial artists and instills great character into them. I also have some of Burton's DVD's. Anyone wanting to pick up some great self defense techniques should buy them. Again, congratulations to Sarah and hope to see Burton create more instructors to make JKDU even more popular.

  • where's the JKD at?

  • Sparring in all the ranges, including groin strikes, against an uncooperative opponent. That is JKD training! The actual techniques applied will vary depending upon the individual's personal expression.

  • Mr. Richardson has it down pat. He obviously asked questions and did some soul searching and came up with real and truthful answers.

  • Thank you for your comment. LOTS of soul searching and hard sparring.

  • I can DIG IT! That girl's good!!

  • IMPRESSIVE, Sarah...In all the rounds, and I especially loved that head kick to Creighton during the kickboxing round :) Also, your reputation preceded you and the test confirmed: you have mastered the tao of the groin shot. Congratulations!

    Aloha,

    Lou Faralan

  • For those who don't know, the last comment was left by Grandmaster Vince Maglinti, Godson of the legendary Floro Villabrille. Now that is a compliment to Sarah's achievement! Maraming salamat po.

  • "MAGNIFICIENT" awesome skills in all your performances .. Congradulation and well deserved on your certifications to its Instructor Rank ..

    With the greatest respects always,

    Vince Maglinti Sr.

  • Félicitations à Sarah, bon boulot !

  • Yes, a fantastic job in all the ranges. She showed great skill, and then great heart when the going got tough. Outstanding performance!

  • Great job, Sarah!!! Congratulations!

    Cheers!

    Patrick
